Episode 5

After calming down and the panic attack passing, Benicio thanked Adrian once again and decided not to immediately reveal that he had gotten the job. It would be unfair to the next candidate and didn't make sense to put them through an interview when he had already made his decision. After all, the next candidate could have an even better resume than Adrian's.

"Thank you again for what you did here. We still have one more candidate to interview, but I will give the answer about who I chose as my assistant later today," Benicio said, reaching out his hand towards Adrian.

"No need to thank me, sir. I will eagerly await the decision," Adrian replied, taking Benicio's hand.

"One thing, if possible. Don't mention to anyone what happened here. Very few people know about it," Benicio discreetly requested.

"Don't worry, I have no reason to share something so personal. If you ever need someone to talk to, someone who understands what you're going through, your company has my number," Adrian answered with a smile.

After saying goodbye, Adrian left the office, leaving Benicio to reflect on what had happened. The businessman not only pondered on the potential of the previous candidate, but also on how that encounter had calmed him and left him somewhat restless. Although he had seen Adrian on the ground after the accident and at the hospital, the experience in the office had been different.

Benicio called in the next candidate, conducted the interview, but at times, his mind still wandered, thinking about the previous candidate. After the interview, Benicio provided the same information that he would be informed about the final decision.

Benicio's choice was already clear. The three candidates had good resumes, and he decided to hire them all, but Adrian would fill the position of his assistant.

After the interview, Adrian had lunch outside and returned home. He decided to wait for the result with his grandmother, who had always supported him. As soon as he arrived, Adrian shared how the interview had gone and his grandmother comforted him.

"Try to relax a little, my son. I am sure you did well. You are a good young man, and I believe good things are coming your way."

"I need to learn to be as optimistic as you, grandma," Adrian kissed his grandmother's forehead.

After taking a shower and putting on more casual clothes, Adrian was about to leave the room when he received a phone call. He saw that it was the same number that had called before and suspected it was from the company.

"Hello."

"Is this Mr. Adrian?"

"Yes, it's him. Who's calling?" Adrian pretended not to know.

"This is from the Thompson Group. I am calling about the interview you had today. I would like to inform you that you passed. If possible, we would like you to start tomorrow. Bring all the necessary documentation for employment registration."

"Thank you very much... I will be there tomorrow," Adrian was overjoyed with happiness.

After hanging up the phone, he rushed to share the news with Mrs. Marcelina. His optimism had paid off, as he had gotten the job he had desired so much. His grandmother was also happy and congratulated him. Adrian felt calmer after receiving that phone call, and things seemed to finally be falling into place for him.

At night, Adrian received a call from his friend Eli. The two had been friends since high school, and Eli knew that Adrian was going through some problems and had an interview that day.

"So, buddy, how did it go?" Eli asked enthusiastically.

"I finally did it. You have no idea the relief I felt when they told me I passed."

"Then let's go out to celebrate," Eli spoke excitedly.

"I'd better not, Eli. I start tomorrow, and I think it's best to get a good night's sleep," Adrian was hesitant.

"Just don't drink too much. Let's have some fun. You've been so tense lately, and it's all because of the job hunt. You deserve it. I promise we'll be back early."

Adrian reconsidered what Eli had said and realized that he had been dedicating himself to the job search for too long without any time for leisure. He deserved a break and accepted the invitation.

— Alright, but it's your fault if I wake up with a hangover tomorrow. When I get my first paycheck, I'll buy you a drink.

Eli agreed and stopped by Adrian's house to pick him up. They went to a bar that Eli knew and wanted to take his friend to celebrate. They arrived and sat at a table. The place was lively, with music and movement.

That night, Benicio went out with his best friend, Danilo. After the office crisis episode, he was determined to go out and distract himself, and he always relied on his friend in times like these.

"If Carla finds out we're here, she'll have a fit," Danilo warned him about his fiancee.

"Are you worried about that?" Benicio questioned.

"Not at all. She's your fiancee anyways," Danilo shrugged.

They both smiled, and that atmosphere was exactly what Benicio needed. They entered the place and sat down. While looking around, Benicio noticed Adrian at one of the tables. Adrian was smiling and seemed comfortable with the person next to him, something Benicio hadn't seen before. However, seeing the man next to him so close and intimate was bothering him. He thought it best to avoid staring, as he knew he didn't have the right to feel jealous of his new employee.
