Episode 9

💥 Alessia…

"Who is she?" Stephy enquired as we watched the interloper alight from my brother's car. There's an air of annoyance yet confusion about her; not that her discomfort delights me, but she deserves it. My brother is head-over-heels for her while she torments him, prancing around, dating other fools.

“I don’t know her name, but if my brother brought her over, she must be…”

I know who she is. She’s the woman my brother saved from being murdered, the one our father is insisting we look after. I wonder about the secrets she shelters and why our father would request something so ludicrous from us. He isn’t one to protect others, only family; that damned Smith family honor code.

“Hey, you, stop!” I yelled out to her as she had gotten far ahead. She turned to face me as I finished speaking.

“Are you talking to me?” she asked.

‘Clearly, who else would I be addressing here?’

“Yes, you. Remember me? I was with Aless when he rescued you from that man trying to kill you with his weapon.” She just looked at me for a moment, saying nothing.

I try to be cordial, but there's something about her I find utterly disagreeable.

‘Who on earth is this woman?’

“So you do remember me. Alessia, right?” she finally responded, reciprocating the smile I’d given her previously, her teeth white and immaculate. It made me wonder how they'd look stained red… Should I persuade my parents to hire her as a nanny for my siblings?

“Yes, that’s me. How do you know my name?” I don’t recall ever introducing myself.

“Your father, Mr. Kevin Smith – he informed me,” she explained. “He said his children would take care of me, so I know your name for that reason.”

‘Me, a nanny to her? No, I don’t babysit; I just eliminate.’

“Oh, what’s your name? You know mine, but I don’t know yours.”

“That’s true. My name is Daniela,” she said.

“I think we could become great friends,” I offered earnestly, but at that exact moment, I felt a shove from behind that nearly took me off balance—thankfully, I have good equilibrium.

“Haha, as if, Sister. A beauty like her can’t be friends with a horror like you,” quipped Robin, his mouth as enormous as ever.

I wonder if it can open any wider; I'd like to test it, as there’s a pocket knife in my backpack and it wouldn't be too difficult to try. Men today are so weak, after all.

My inner thoughts are positively giddy at the idea of him dripping in blood, hearing his pleading shrieks as I skin him alive slowly, painfully.

Robin, the university director's son, acts as if he’s a god, untouchable and sovereign—unaware that I could eternally immortalize him far better than he imagines. Besides, he’s Stephy's boyfriend's best friend.

“I apologize, Robin. I know I’m unworthy of anyone's company. I just wanted to know what it's like to have friends. Nobody wants to be with me.” My head hung low as I said this.

“Of course nobody wants to be friends with a mediocre nun like you, right, new girl?” Robin smirked, draping his arms around Daniela's shoulders.

“Why are you speaking to her like that?” She shrugged Robin’s arm off her shoulders.

“Because, babe, a beauty like you can’t be friends with the dregs of the university. Just look at her; they say looks are the window to the soul, but this nun is too puritanical. She doesn’t suit you,” he said, scissoring his gaze up and down my entirety, from toes to head.

“Who are you calling dregs?” Aless interjected from behind me.

“I… nobody, friend,” Robin stammered, clearly fearful—and I don’t blame him. My brother is the football team’s captain; for some inexplicable reason, he cherishes that sport as much as painting on his canvases. Football is a front for him to pummel fools with impunity. Carrying a well-muscled build, thanks to constant exercise without being grotesquely bulky and bearing our father’s youthful likeness, he’s a handsome sight. It's only natural to fear a muscular, attractive man standing at 1.96 meters tall—yes, my brother is quite tall.

“Respect my sister, or I’ll knock your teeth out. Plus, you’re no friend of mine,” Alessandro didn’t mince words. He approached Robin, gave him a few soft pats on the face, then turned to Daniela. “Let’s go.” He took Stephy’s hand and started walking away from us.

“Isn’t she with Dario?” Robin questioned.

“Maybe your friend just wasn’t that satisfying…” I clammed up as I saw his withering glare. He came close, took hold of my hand, and dragged me away from Daniela.

“Hey, you brute, let go…” I yelled. “Where are you dragging me, you imbecile?” My voice was annoyed, yet I wasn’t truly upset; this could prove to be entertaining.

He pulled me to one of the back classrooms currently under renovation and thus disused.

He opened the door and shoved me inside.

“What do you want?” I asked, leaning against the wall.

“What do I want?” he moved in, cornering me against the wall as if to flaunt dominance or to intimidate me.

I burst into unstoppable laughter—this was more amusing than I anticipated.

“Are you going to kiss me? I’d advise against it; your breath reeked. Haven’t you heard of toothbrushes? I can buy you one if you like,” I taunted with a smirk.
