Precisely at ten in the morning, Bara had just arrived at his friend Panji's company.
Immediately afterward, Bara walked towards the interior of the company, after parking his motorcycle in the designated motorcycle area.
Now Bara stood before the lobby doors, and unexpectedly, his path was obstructed by a guard typically stationed near the entrance.
"Wait! Who are you? You are not permitted to enter this office!" the guard's declaration ignited Bara's fury.
"Do you not remember who I am? I am Bara. A close friend of the owner of this company. I often visit here, so it's impossible you don't recognize me! Stupid guard."
"I really don't know who you are! So better you don't enter this office. Because our CEO doesn't want to see you."
"Damn it! I refuse to heed your words. Step aside now, or I will ask Panji to fire you, miserable guard."
"No way! I will not move from this door, because these are the boss's orders."
"Fine, if you won't listen to me, then feel this!"
Thud…
With swift movement, Bara delivered a kick right in the guard's sensitive spot, causing him to collapse on the floor, grappling with intense pain.
Seeing the guard writhed in agony, Bara quickly dashed into Panji's office. The other employees just watched, not daring to block Bara's ascent into the elevator.
Now, with a face full of rage, Bara intended to demand from his friend Panji the dismissal of the insolent guard.
"Damn it! Watch how I will fire you all if you dare to obstruct my arrival," Bara yelled in anger.
After taking the elevator to the top floor, Bara had arrived at the CEO's special room.
Without knocking, Bara entered, and as the door flung wide open.
There was Panji, his friend, seated comfortably in his executive chair, legs propped up on the desk…
Bara stood hands-on-hips and glared at his friend.
"You bastard, Panji! Did you not see I was expelled by your security guard outside? Does he not recognize who I am, Panji?" Bara asked with a piercing gaze.
To Bara's rage, Panji remained silent, offering only a thin, mocking smile, akin to someone jeering.
Bara, offended by his friend's attitude, stepped forward with a disgusted click of his tongue.
"Are you deaf or what? Why are you just sitting there smiling? Normally, you greet me with great respect and heed my words, but now, you smirk as though mocking me. What's wrong with you, Panji?" Bara asked, bewildered.
Panji just laughed quietly, seemingly mocking Bara's words...
"Do you not realize, Bara? Now leave my office! I don't have time to talk with you."
Bara felt a surge of adrenaline; his heart raced...
What did Panji mean by his words? Did Panji have amnesia, forgetting who Bara was?
"Stop joking, Panji. This is no time for jests. I came here specifically to ask for your help. Surely, you must be willing to help me?"
"Who's joking, Bara? Can't you see my face is tired of seeing you in my office? How dare you ask for my help! Just so you know, Bara. We're no longer friends as of last night. I've cut our acquaintance. So leave now, don't come back to my company."
"What do you mean, Panji? Have you heard rumors about me?"
"Yes. I've heard, Bara! That you are not the legitimate heir to the Abraham family fortune. You are not Mr. Abraham's biological child. You were just switched at the hospital. We've all heard that rumor, Bara, and I no longer wish to associate with you."
Bara's heart felt squeezed. How could his best friend, whom he saw as a brother, scorn and evict him so cruelly?
Enraged, Bara lunged at Panji, still seated, pushing the chair that rolled back into the wall from Bara's shove.
Bara gripped Panji's throat tightly, seething with anger towards the despicable man.
"Let me go! What are you doing, damned Bara?" Panji yelled, struggling.
"Scoundrel, Panji! You are ungrateful. You forget the good I've done for you because you heard I'm not Mr. Abraham's blood--where's your brain, you bastard! You're truly vile, Panji."
Thump… thump…
"Aargh... stop, let go...!" Panji cried for help as both men were now on the floor, Bara delivering punches down on the vile man.
"Deserve death, Panji! Ungrateful man, you forget all I've done. Just so you know, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't be successful like you are now. I'll see your business bankrupt, Panji!" Bara shouted as he kept landing solid punches and Panji, refusing to surrender, fought back. They continued exchanging blows.
Eventually, five guards arrived to break up the fight.
Bara was restrained by four guards, preventing him from moving freely.
"You're a detestable man, Panji! You've abandoned me in my time of need. You're like a bean that forgets its shell. Just wait, I'll pay you back for this!"
"Scoff! Say what you will, now you're a nobody, Bara. You're just a penniless man without a job. I've heard about you, from your paid woman last night. Now get out of my office, I won't associate with a poor man like you. A piece of trash," Panji sneered disapprovingly, gesturing the guards to remove Bara immediately...
"Make sure this poor man doesn't enter my luxurious office again."
"Right away, Sir." was the collective response, then they forcibly pulled away Bara, tightly gripped among the four of them.
Resigned and with no resistance, Bara left the office with seething revenge in his heart.
"I'll avenge this betrayal, Panji. You may smile now, but once my punishment is served. You'll be the first I'll reduce to dust—wait for my revenge," Bara vowed silently. Now, truly discarded by the very people who once revered him in his wealthy youth...
His father was right: the sincerity of people is seen when you fall and become poor...
