...Kevin:...
Another week has passed, and I've seen Mateo more often. We don't talk much, and his gaze, while a bit warmer, isn't as I'd like it to be. We haven't really chatted, just exchanged a few words, but I've noticed him paying more attention when I'm training. Estefania went on a business trip that day and I haven't seen her. I don't know, maybe it's the jealousy of seeing my man close to someone else that's making me overthink things. Yeah, that must be it.
These days I've asked my dad, Will, to teach me a little about spells and such. I want to learn more. For now, I only know how to mask my scent, and that interests me the most because that way I could, you know, blend in with the warriors unnoticed and spy on him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a stalker, but I like seeing my man walk in.
I already learned to do a few other things besides that. My father also taught me to use my magic for attacks and protection.
The training grounds for those spells are in an open field. Many warriors come to watch us train since they're not very used to seeing that, and what they have seen is only my dad doing it, which isn't very fun.
Mateo comes to see me too, and I like that even more. I'm trying to improve, even though Edgar always scolds me, saying:
Edgar: Dude, it's okay that you want to put effort into training to be the best, but I'd like it if you did it because you want to improve yourself, not for others to see you. Besides, you always have to be yourself, and if others don't like the way you are, then they don't deserve your attention, okay?
Kevin: Dude, thanks, but why are you telling me this?
Edgar: Because I care about you, and I want to see that spark you have always shining, not destroyed by people who don't deserve it.
Kevin: You always have the right words to advise me. Thanks, dude.
We enter the mansion, and I see my beautiful delta entering my brother's office, so I tell Edgar:
Kevin: Go wash your hands for dinner. I'll be right back, okay?
He nods and leaves. I sneak closer until I'm near my brother's office. Luckily, my delta didn't close the door properly, so I manage to hear:
Mateo: Dude, my heat is coming in three days, so I won't be able to attend the training sessions.
Leonardo: Okay, let me see how I can arrange things with Fred because my family has a trip to Italy. It's Uncle Lucas's birthday.
Mateo: Seriously? And everyone's going?
Leonardo: Yes, everyone. I'm staying here with Fred because we have a lot of work. Maybe I'll just go on the day of the party to spend a little time with them.
Mateo: And when is everyone leaving?
Leonardo: Tomorrow.
It's true, tomorrow is the trip to Italy, and if I don't go, maybe this is my chance to be with him.
Link:
Iker: What do you think, brother?
Kevin: What if we take advantage of the family's trip and don't go? We can tell Dad that we have a school project to work on, and they won't suspect anything.
Iker: But everyone's going, even Edgar and his mom.
Kevin: Yes, but maybe this is our chance to be with our delta. Besides, they say the heat is more painful when you've found your mate, and I don't want him to suffer. I want to give myself to him.
Iker: I want to be his too. I want him.
Kevin: Then let's do it.
Iker: Well, Uncle Lucas will be sad not to see us, but I want to be with my mate.

With that in mind, we went to have dinner.
That night, I told my parents that I couldn't go because of a project I had and that the economics professor was even stricter than the previous one, which wasn't a lie.
Not wanting to force me, they let me stay.
The first step was taken; now only the second one remained, and that was to get my brother Leonardo to let me out for 5 days: 3 days for Mateo's heat, one to spend with him, and the other to rest and clean his scent off me. Not that I don't like it—I love his scent—but I shouldn't leave any trace of it, or my parents will kill me. Now, if he marks me, things will be different, but I'll think about what to do if that happens. Meanwhile, I need to rest.
I'm not going to tell Mateo anything. I want it to be a surprise. Besides, it's my first time, and I don't want him to be scared.
The next day, I get up and have breakfast with the family. A while later, we say goodbye to them. I didn't see Mateo today because I wanted him to think that I left with them, even though Leonardo wasn't very convinced about me staying.
Leonardo: So, what are you going to do now, shorty?
Kevin: Me? Nothing. I don't know what you're talking about.
Leonardo: Be careful not to get into mischief, and go to your room to study. Very important associates are coming today, and I have to attend to them.
Kevin: Okay, brother. Where the captain commands, the sailor has no choice. See you later.
I run to my room, happy. The first step is taken; only the second one remains, and it's what I have to plan very well.
With that in mind, I go up to my room and pack a bag with three changes of clothes. I don't think I'll need much clothes. We'll see. I start making progress on the project until almost nightfall. I wanted to have everything ready so I could leave, although that left me less time to ask my brother for permission to go out, even though I still don't know what I'm going to tell him.
I take a shower and put on my pajamas when there's a knock at the door.
Kevin: Yeah, come in.
Leonardo: Brother, let's have dinner. Too much studying will do you harm.
Kevin: Sure, I'm coming, big brother.
I'll think about what to say tomorrow.
