MAXIMILIANO
This woman had character; no one had ever dared to speak to me like that before. Perhaps it was because she didn't know me, but soon she would know who I was.
"Max, are you sure about this?" Joshua asked me, concerned.
"Absolutely. I will help her seek revenge, and she will help me get what I want."
"And where is Sabrina?" he said, somewhat indignant.
"That's your problem, dear friend. I haven't seen that woman before."
"She's much prettier and curvier than your future wife," he sarcastically remarked.
"If I want her for a night, I'll call her later. For now, you take care of getting rid of her. The last thing I want is a crazy woman opposing the wedding," I said, amused, though Joshua didn't find it funny at all.
The priest entered and looked around for the bride.
"She'll be here in a moment, Father. She's... getting ready," I replied.
"Very well, because I don't think I can handle another snub. It broke my heart to see that young girl cry," the priest said.
Suddenly, she made her entrance, leaving everyone speechless.
She had torn her dress, removing one of the sleeves and the hideous train it had. Despite being ripped, it suited her style far better than the awful matronly dress she had a few minutes ago. She let her hair down from the bun and tied it up in a high ponytail. And it seemed as if she had never shed a tear for any idiot.
"I am ready," she announced when she reached the altar.
The priest studied her for a few minutes, then began the ceremony.
"Mr. Maximiliano Singer, do you accept Miss..." the priest paused, waiting for her to say her name since he had Sabrina Dun's name.
"Victoria Lotton," she firmly said.
"To love and to cherish, until death do you part?"
"I accept!" I exclaimed.
"Victoria Lotton, do you accept Mr. Maximiliano Singer, to love and to cherish until death do you part?"
She remained silent for a moment, and I felt she was hesitating. This time it wouldn't be me being left at the altar.
"Darling!" I called her attention.
"Yes, I accept," she finally said.
"You may kiss the bride," the priest pronounced as the culmination of the ceremony.
I approached her slowly, not wanting her to hit me, and cautiously planted a kiss very close to her mouth. I felt her tensing at the touch.
VICTORIA
I couldn't believe it; I was married. But there would be no honeymoon, no reception. We were only going to have a business meeting.
"I'll go to my house to change into something more comfortable for the discussion," I said.
"No, darling, we have to travel right away. We'll come for your things later," he replied.
"But I need to change. I can't leave like this," I pointed at my torn wedding dress.
"You can buy something on the way," he retorted, grabbing me by the arm and dragging me to the car.
"At least let me say goodbye to my aunt."
"We don't have time," he growled.
"I told you I'm going to say goodbye to my aunt, whether you like it or not. If not, you won't get me in that car even if I'm dead," I said, trying to intimidate him.
He smiled and let go of me.
"You have three minutes," he said firmly.
"My dear, are you sure about what you've done?" my aunt asked anxiously.
"Yes, Aunt. Everything will be fine. I'll do my best to come visit or have you visit me. I love you," I said, hugging her.
I walked back to the car where my now-husband Maximiliano and his lawyer were waiting. I got into the car in complete silence.
"So, Victoria, right?" my husband said.
"Yes, nice to meet you, Maximiliano," I replied with a touch of bitterness.
"Maximo is my father; I'm Maximiliano. Don't forget, darling, because we are now husband and wife," he said, threateningly.
I felt upset and uncomfortable in this attire. I didn't understand why he couldn't let me get my things.
"We'll go to your house to retrieve your passport and any essentials you need," he said, trying to sound flexible.
"Can I take some clothes?" I asked.
"You can change if you wish, but your belongings stay here. I'll arrange to have them picked up later."
"I could pack quickly," I said, trying to convince him.
"No, I told you only your documents and anything you consider important," he warned me. "You'll only have 10 minutes. If not, I'll personally come and get you, and trust me, you won't like it."
I felt my blood boiling inside me, but still tried to calm down. After all, it was better than nothing. I pointed out the direction to my house and they took me there. I quickly went inside and the first thing I did was grab a small bag. I put my documents, some jewelry that belonged to my mother, a picture of my parents, and as quickly as I could, I changed my clothes. When I looked at the clock again, I only had one minute left to leave.
I rushed down the stairs and before I could exit, Maximiliano was coming in.
"I'm ready now," I informed him. He left without saying a word and got back into the car.
"Are we going to fly to your house?" I asked.
"I have some matters to take care of before returning, so we'll travel a bit more in the car, and then we'll go back to Miami," he informed me.
I decided to remain silent for the rest of the journey, thinking about what had happened for Luis Fernando to leave me at the altar, despite his professed love for me.
"Victoria," Maximiliano grumbled beside me.
"What?" I nervously asked.
"I've been trying to get your attention for 5 minutes. What are you thinking about? Are you still dwelling on the idiot who left you standing in a wedding dress?"
"No, I... I was just thinking about how I can make him pay," I replied.
He looked at me, knowing I was lying, but he didn't say anything.
"Would you like to discuss some points of the contract?" he asked.
"Sure, that would be fine," he handed me a pen to write on the contract.
"I'll have to be married until you receive your inheritance, right?" I asked.
"Correct," he answered curtly.
"In front of your family, partners, the press, or the general public, we should behave like a normal married couple, but we'll lead separate lives, right?"
"Yes, you'll have your room and I'll have mine, unless you'd like to share the same room?" he said with a cunning smile.
"That sounds okay to me," I assured him.
"You'll have your independent activities, but when I require your company, you must attend immediately, especially if it's for business or involving my father," he said sternly.
"I want to work in your company!" I blurted out.
He looked at me wide-eyed and I could sense the tension beside me.
"Why would you want that?" he queried.
"I'm an independent woman, I don't want to depend on your money at this point. I want to earn it through my own efforts," I explained.
He stayed silent for a couple of minutes, then glanced at his lawyer and back at me.
"We'll think about it," he finally said.
"Does that mean no?" I asked.
"That means 'maybe,' but don't get too excited," he retorted.
"Very well," I continued, "I'll receive an annual sum of 5 million dollars. I want that money to be placed in my aunt's account."
"Why does your aunt have to handle your money?" he asked again, perplexed.
"My aunt will expand the workshop we have. I won't need anything else besides the salary for my work in the company," I replied.
"So, you're assuming that you'll work in the company?!" he responded ironically.
"Yes, I don't beg, so don't make me request it directly from your father, because I think he'd be thrilled to hear about this great deal we're making!" I said threateningly.
"Fine, you'll have a position in my company, but not in my family's," he stated.
What did he mean by his own company? Were there more companies besides the one he was going to inherit? Well, whatever the case, the important thing was to have an income for my clothes and necessities. I wanted to cause him as little trouble as possible and depend on his money as little as possible.
MAXIMILIANO
I couldn't believe the character of this woman, but there was something about her that I liked. She was just as dominant as me and wouldn't be easily broken. She would do whatever it took to get what she wanted. She was very similar to me. Perhaps I could have my sweet revenge with her. After all, she was cunning and a woman like her deserved respect and should never be underestimated.
I think I had chosen the wrong business. This woman could bring me complications, although her thirst for revenge was and would be her weak point. As long as I could control and manipulate her by helping her seek revenge, everything would be fine.
"If that's all, I believe Joshua can draft a new contract for us to sign."
"Mmm... I think... I think it's fine," she nervously said.
"Is there anything else?"
"Well, there's one point where you mention an heir."
I let out a dry laugh.
"Yes, that's true. I don't think it's necessary, but in that case, you'll have to give me a child."
"Does that mean we have to...?" I saw her face turn completely red with embarrassment.
"If you don't want to, I can arrange for artificial insemination. But if my father deems it necessary, you should start considering becoming a mother."
She remained silent, avoiding my gaze and staring out the window.
I couldn't deny it; she was very beautiful. The white cocktail dress she wore made her look charming, youthful, and even though it was informal, she exuded a unique elegance. I could get lost in her skin, in those beautiful green eyes, in those lips. I started imagining Victoria naked, but instead, I saw flashes of last night's memories – those lips, those little hands that touched my bare chest – and once again, I felt the need for that woman.
I wanted to have her again, I desired her in my arms. I had to find her, apologize, and make up for taking her virginity.
