A Stepping Stone

Yesterday day was a major pain. But for some reason, I don't mind. I know, I might die but still I want to continue fighting. After all, If I survive I'll become stronger.

But enough about that. At night I may be a monster hunter, but by day I'm still your average highschool student.

“ USER LOUIS MILLS... ”

“ ugh... Can you just call me Louis ”

“ VERY WELL. LOUIS ”

“ that's much better ”

“ LOUIS... ”

“ it's Friday, so I can fight to my heart's content this weekend ”

On that Friday morning I continued my daily routine like nothing had happened. Did some minor chores, took a bath and made breakfast. I was hurt pretty bad but I managed to patch myself up with the first aid kit I had. And for some reason even after I ate breakfast I was still hungry... Oh well, I'll grab something on the way to school.

“ LOUIS ”

“ not now... ”

“ LOUIS ”

“ I'm trying to think here ”

“ uhh... ” I said

As I raised my head, looking forward I saw a car. It was already too close for comfort, touching my knees in fact. At that moment as if I had done it before. By pure reflex, I quickly put out my hands on the car's bummer, and lifted my body up, like I was jumping with my hands. In that split second I was airborne long enough for the car to pass, before landing on my feet.

As I turned around I saw people clapping.

“ what the hell. I almost died and they're clapping ”

Meanwhile unknowingly to me one of my classmates had watched the whole drama play out.

“ dude that was awesome, you rock” I could hear the crowd saying.

Ding ding ding ding. Ding ding ding ding

At school I'm pretty much what you'd call a loser, but being a loser can have it's perks like: not being bothered during school hours.

“ If the world was a game I'd definitely an npc ” I thought to myself while resting my head on my desk.

“ hey ” I heard someone say while hitting my desk

“ uh what is it ” I replied

“ um ”

“ look girl. Do you need something or not ”

“ tch... ” she replied before walking away

“ what's her deal ” I thought to myself.

Couldn't i get some quality me time. I mean was that still too much to ask for. Anyway I'm more excited about the whole system thing

“ system ” I said out loud. Only to find the entire class staring at me

“ YES, LOUIS ”

“ give me a comprehensive knowledge about everything ”

YOU MAY ALSO BE GIVEN QUESTS WHICH NAY ENTAIL THE USE OF PURE LOGIC TO ENSURE YOU DON'T BECOME SOME MINDLESS BRUTE ”

“ is it just me or are you gloating ”

“ I AN DOING NOTHING OF THE SORT ”

“ I not mad or anything... ”

“ WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO CONTINUE ”

“ yeah... Sure ”

“ IN SUMMERY. THE DUNGEONS THE MONSTERS AND EVEN MY EXISTENCE ARE NOTHING BUT A MEANS TO AN END. A STEPPING STONE, IF YOU MAY”

“ you say your nothing but a stepping stone, but what do you lead to ”

“ SOON THIS WORLD IS GOING TO BE ENVELOPED IN CHAOS. AND I TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN CREATING THE UNTIMATE HUMAN WHO WILL LEAD THE REMINANTS OF HUMANITY TO SALVATION ”

“ I see... But it all makes me wonder, just who the hell it was that created you ”

“ don't get too close, his madness may be contagious... Look at him whispering to himself like that... Weirdo... Creep... ” my classmates said but I just shrugged it off with a smile on my face while thinking

“ I can't wait to hit the dungeons ”
