"What? You mean you went to my in-laws' house?" Satria asked in surprise when Mr. Agung revealed that he had just paid a visit to Satria's in-laws.
Satria was not yet ready for his in-laws to find out who he really was. Especially his arrogant and money-grubbing brothers-in-law, who were presently employees at his company. Only Beni, who had always been kind to Satria, was the exception.
"Yes, sir. I met your mother-in-law, and she mistook me for a debt collector," Mr. Agung informed him.
Indra, who overheard the conversation, could barely contain his laughter, choosing not to laugh out loud considering Mr. Agung was older than he was. Satria was no longer surprised by Mr. Agung's stories about his mother-in-law; he knew all too well what she was like.
"What did you need to find me at home for, Mr. Agung?" Satria asked, redirecting the conversation.
"Well... The lady of the house instructed me to deliver these documents and cards to Mrs. Satria. I tried calling you earlier, but your cell phone was off, so I had to deliver them personally, you know how she is once she gives an order," Mr. Agung explained seriously.
The documents Mr. Agung brought were for the ownership of a boutique and salon. The boutique and salon had been operating for two years. Satria's grandmother had built them as a wedding gift for Dinda and Satria.
"Is all this from grandmother, for Dinda? When did grandmother start this business?" Satria asked, shocked, as he was unaware of his grandmother's business ventures in the beauty industry that appealed to women.
"When she found out you were getting married, she immediately started the business, intending to gift it to her grand-daughter-in-law as a wedding present. It's clear now who the owner is—it's under Mrs. Satria's name, and the credit and black cards are also for your wife," Mr. Agung detailed.
Satria had no idea his grandmother had prepared all of this well in advance, including the ownership papers of the two businesses bearing Dinda's name.
*How on earth did grandmother manage all these requirements? She truly is remarkable\,* Satria mused internally.
Once Mr. Agung's business was concluded, he hastily said his goodbyes. When he opened the door to leave, it turned out Beni was outside, waiting to see Indra. Beni entered after Indra permitted it.
"Oh, Satria, you're here?" Beni asked, surprised to see Satria in Indra's office.
"Yes, I needed to discuss something with Mr. Indra; he's a friend of mine," Satria replied, still choosing to lie.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I need to speak with Mr. Indra. There are some documents he needs to review," Beni said politely.
Fundamentally, Beni was a good person, speaking only when necessary. Satria nodded and allowed Beni to have his conversation with Indra. Beni and Indra quickly finished their work discussion, after which Beni excused himself.
---
Three days passed.
Dinda and Satria planned to move, but not to the main house. They were relocating to a residence Satria had purchased close to the principal family home inhabited by the grandmother.
"Where exactly do you guys plan to move to?" Rudi queried, seeing Satria and Dinda packing.
They carried no valuables, just their clothes. The rest of the household items, Dinda had willingly given away to the neighbors, with the fridge and TV requested by Mrs. Rahayu.
"We're moving to the Indah Island Housing estate," Satria disclosed the name of their new residence.
Everyone at Dinda's home was dumbfounded upon hearing Satria mention the housing complex where they would reside. The Indah Island estate was known to be an elite neighborhood frequented by the wealthy and businesspeople.
"You must be dreaming! That's an elite neighborhood," Sarah mocked, sneering at Dinda and Satria.
"Could it be you are envious because we are moving there? Besides, Satria bought that house outright. If you don't believe it, you are welcome to come and see for yourselves," Dinda retorted, endeavouring to be honest.
Hahahaaaaaa...
Dinda's siblings laughed uproariously, convinced that Satria and Dinda had lost their minds. Nonetheless, they agreed to follow Dinda's invitation to the house in question.
"Alright, we'll come with you," Sarah agreed, supported by everyone else.
"Why don't you all come along to see Satria and Dinda's palace? We call it a palace, but that's just because of the estate's elite name. It's probably just a shabby house on the outskirts," Reno added sarcastically.
"I'll stay home; I trust Satria and Dinda. If the rest of you want to go, go ahead, and Mother, you can join them if you wish," Mr. Karim stated.
In the end, everyone proceeded to Dinda's new home. Dinda and Satria drove their car; Reno and Rudi each drove their own vehicles. Rena and Mrs. Rahayu joined Rudi's car, while Beni and his children accompanied Reno. Reno and Rudi's children seldom left the house, even for a visit to their grandparents.
Upon arriving at the lavish two-story house, all of Dinda's family members marveled at the home awaiting them.
"Is this your boss' house, Satria?" Rudi asked, gazing in awe at the house before him.
"Think what you will, but the fact remains that Dinda and I will live here. Would you like to come in? Don't worry; I won't ask you to take off your shoes or sandals," Satria taunted, recalling how he had been scolded for not removing his sandals when visiting Rudi's house in the past.
"Conceited! Now that you're a driver allowed to live in your employer's house, you're putting on airs. To brag about being a driver, when a sedentary office job gives you a fortune without effort," Rudi boasted of his status.
"Boasting about your office job that you hang onto by doing nothing. True pride comes from earning honestly through hard work," Satria responded, casting a disdainful look at his brother-in-law.
Rudi clenched his fists, almost hitting Satria but holding back when Beni intervened. Beni wanted to avoid a scene and the risk of being ejected by the complex's security, given that two guards had been watching them since they arrived.
"There's no need for a scene, else we might be thrown out. Look, the guards have been staring this way for a while. If Mr. Rudi feels no remorse, why get angry?" Beni's rhetorical question made Rudi feel cornered.
"He insulted me!" Rudi sought justification.
"Enough bickering, let's head home. Why bother visiting this place? They're but living in their employer's place. I refuse to believe that house was bought by Satria in cash. He can't even afford regular meals, let alone buy a home outright. Dinda, remember I will still urge you to demand a divorce if Satria can't make you happy. Tono is all prepped up to replace him," Mrs. Rahayu's words caught Satria off guard.
Thump...
Satria had thought his mother-in-law's intentions were just teasing, but she was serious about matching Dinda with Tono and pushing for a divorce.
