Episode 8

On the Other Side of the World

Valeria Ugarte is a young and determined worker in life, at only 21 years old, she is already a Veterinarian. While doing this, she worked like crazy to save and establish her own small clinic. Her mother is a very jovial woman, and even though Vale, as they call her, is her adoptive daughter, Leonilda or Loni adores her as if she had come from her own womb. Loni, as the neighbors call her, has been in poor health these past years and has not been able to support her daughter alone. Diabetes has been consuming her relentlessly, and the treatment is expensive. She doesn't have insurance, so things have gone from bad to worse.

Vale has established her clinic with great effort, and she already has clients from when she worked as an assistant in clinics for less than ideal wages. But every penny counted at that time.

One Monday, Vale goes to her clinic, as happy as always. She had been able to rest more peacefully over the weekend since she didn't have any hospitalized patients. She treated the kittens and puppies with difficult diseases for days in her clinic, which was equipped just as she had imagined.

As the young girl approached the area, she saw with surprise that there was machinery, a gathered crowd. Everyone was shouting, and some were crying. It was then that she saw the harsh scene: enormous machinery had demolished the entire block, and where her beloved clinic was, there were only rubble and remnants of her materials.

Vale almost fainted. All her work, her savings since she was 15 years old, working like an animal, enduring bad attitudes, exploitative bosses, harassing supervisors, insults, and so much more had disappeared. All her efforts were reduced to rubble.

After the shock, Vale became furious. Who was the rotten scoundrel who had done this? And she went towards the contractor in a state of overflowing anger.

"Who is your boss? Who gave the order for this? I'm going to sue you if you don't tell me who the hell you work for!" Vale was like a wild beast, and the man, who measured almost two meters and looked like a large gray bear standing on his two legs, looked at her without knowing what to do. The little girl who was no more than 1.60 meters tall was truly intimidating.

"Miss, calm down. We are contractors, and we have nothing to do with this. We have all the permits, and the party that bought the entire block is the Wolf Metal consortium. It's a multinational company that deals with all types of weapons, and the president is Osiris Triente. If you can find him, you should take it up with him," the man apologized with a gesture and continued with his work.

However, Vale wanted to kill this Osiris guy. Who the hell names themselves Osiris, like the god of resurrection? She wondered irritably.

That afternoon, at Wolf Metal, the beautiful and indignant Valeria walked into the reception and saw that to enter, you had to at least be dressed in Armani. All those people seemed to have come out of a fashion magazine, and here she was in her ripped jeans, Acme canvas shoes, and a plain hoodie. So, it was going to be complicated. She decided to stay in the reception for a while, as if she were looking at brochures of the company's services. She observed the approximate entry method, so she decided to give it a try. She had encountered even more despicable people in her life.

Vale waited for the receptionist to take out one of those president cards to hand it to a lady who wanted to pass. With the agility of a cat, Vale took the card and sprinted to the elevator.

She swiped the card, and immediately the doors closed and the elevator went up. But Vale knows she's not safe yet, and she must be quick when she gets out. As soon as the elevator doors opened, she was propelled with the support of the wall, zipping out like lightning. The guards who were waiting for her couldn't catch her, and the reception was alerted to the presence of a suspicious intruder.

Vale ran down the hallway, and there it was, a door that said "presidency." She lunged toward it, but before she could reach it, two guards blocked her way. They were enormous, but Vale had one advantage over them - she was small and agile. She effortlessly slid between the legs of the slower guard, making her way to the other side and into the office beyond. Inside, she saw a large table with seven men stretched out, but the one at the head of the table seemed even more stretched out than the rest. That must be the infamous Osiris. Vale couldn't help but notice that he was incredibly handsome, though he must be older than her. Shaking off her mental distraction, she quickly ran and effortlessly leapt onto the table, barely making a sound and leaving everyone in awe.
