Episode 7

After returning to the mafia, they had to report what happened to the boss. Marco arrives at the office door, and before entering with Amai, he says:

Marco: “Amai, be careful what you say to the boss, he can get heated quickly.”

Amai nods “yes,” and they enter:

Marco: “Excuse me, boss, I came to report what happened.”

CEO: “Go ahead.”

Marco: “It all went as you said, sir. He really didn't care about the mafia; he took advantage of his father being sick, thinking that the mafia would be fragile, but he was wrong. We killed him and threw him in the well and destroyed the evidence we left behind.”

CEO: “I see, very good. And Amai? How did he do, Marco?”

Marco: “He did well, seems like he has a knack for this; he saved me at the last second. A thug grabbed me from behind, but Amai helped me, despite disobeying my order, because before, when we went to get the weapons, he was fixated on one, and I didn't let him take it, but he took it secretly, and it was with that that he saved me. Despite lacking some things, he's much better than many here, boss.”

CEO: “I understand… good that he is being helpful, I think trading your father's debts for you was the right choice.”

Amai: “Actually… the farmer, before he died, told me that I looked like someone, and since he was a client here, I thought if you might know this person?”

CEO: “Hmm… I don't know this person.”

Marco: “May we leave, boss?”

CEO: “You may go.”

So, Amai and Marco left his office, while the CEO went to the huge window in his room and said:

CEO: “He… really reminds me of you… Nori!”

Amai and Marco return to the room:

Amai: “Today was so tiring, but it was also very interesting; I'm going to take a shower.”

Marco: “I'll go get us something to eat.”

Amai: “Okay, I'll wait for you.”

Marco leaves, and Amai goes to take his shower. While Amai was showering, he thought:

Amai: “Ever since I arrived here, unusual things have been happening. I remembered that I did taekwondo as a child, something I didn't even remember, and it only came to mind when I was fighting the commander.”

Amai finishes his shower, and when he leaves, Marco is already there:

Amai: “Oh, you're back already?”

Marco: “I went to a convenience store nearby.”

Amai: “What did you bring to eat?”

Marco: “I brought these snacks and juice.”

When Amai looks at the snack again, a memory comes to mind, “A woman, whose face he couldn’t see, was taking him to eat these snacks with another child at a convenience store.”

Marco: “Amai? Amai???”

Amai returns to the present:

Amai: “Huh? Who was that boy?”

Marco: “What boy, man?”

Amai: “Never mind, let's eat.”

Then the two eat the snacks and go to bed. While lying down, Amai thought about these old memories from when he was a child, and at the same time, how his father was doing:

Amai: “My mother died when I was 6 years old. I don't remember much about her, but I always look up at the sky and ask her to protect me. Come to think of it, I never asked my father much about my mother. I grew up knowing that she died in an accident, and that's it.”

Amai ends up falling asleep from thinking about it so much.

THE NEXT DAY…

Marco wakes up and sees Amai awake:

Marco: “You're already awake? Seems like you're adapting quickly.”

Amai: “I have to, right?”

Amai: “What's our mission for today?”

Marco: “Today I'm doing a solo mission; the boss didn't say anything about you.”

Amai: “But whyyy?” And he throws himself on the bed:

Amai: “Why did I wake up early then?”

Marco: “Boy, there’s still training, don't forget. While you’re not on another mission, you can become a successful subordinate if you train hard.”

Amai: “Really?”

Marco: “Well, your day is set, I'm gonna go earn mine.”

Amai: “You better come back alive because if not, I get the room all to myself, hehe.”

Marco gives a little smile and leaves.

Amai: “Let's see, it seems like I have a new training today. Swimming, I don't know how to swim, now what? For now, let’s focus on the first step, getting to training.”

Amai leaves the room and goes to the training area. Arriving there, the pool was huge, and deep, he couldn’t see the bottom.

Amai: “Sir, what do I have to do here?”

Trainer: “The same as everyone else is doing.”

Everyone was jumping and swimming to see who could get to the other side the fastest.

Amai: “Trainer, but I don't know how to swi-”

Before Amai could finish his sentence, the trainer pushed him into the pool.

Amai started flailing like a cat who doesn’t like water. Since he was close to the edge, he decided to do something risky. He dove straight down until his feet touched the bottom and pushed off to gain momentum and try to grab the edge of the pool. He managed to grab the edge and get out of the pool:

Amai: “Were you trying to kill me?”

Trainer: “Only the strong survive here. There will be cases where you’ll need to swim on missions, for example, if you have to escape through the forest and come across a cliff that leads straight into the sea, or a river, I don't know, the only way to survive would be to jump.”

Amai, coughing from all the water he swallowed:

Amai: “Cough, cough, that doesn't make sense!”

Trainer: “When you're on a mission, nothing makes sense, and nothing is the way you want it; there will always be something unpredictable.”

Then the trainer walks away from Amai and goes to help another swimmer.

Amai: “He's right; if I want to be an elite subordinate, I have to understand that.”

Amai then sits on the floor and observes the swimmers training. Amai thinks, “If I watch how they do it, I might learn something.”

So, he keeps watching them.

MOMENTS LATER…

Trainer: “Lunchtime, let’s all go to the cafeteria.”

The trainer approaches Amai:

Trainer: “Let’s have lunch.”

Amai: “I’m not hungry, thank you. You can go without me.”

The trainer doesn’t think twice and leaves.

Amai: “Now’s my chance to practice what I learned from watching them.”

Amai gets up, strikes a pose, and starts running to jump into the pool. When it’s time to jump, he stops:

Amai: “Why is jumping so scary?”

Amai was afraid to jump, so whenever it was time to jump, he would freeze.

Suddenly, the boss was walking by and saw Amai training but afraid to jump. He stops and starts observing him:

Boss: “Hmm, he won’t jump. He’ll keep avoiding it and won’t face his fears.”

Then he leaves. When the boss takes two steps, he hears the sound of water “splash.”

Boss: “Huh, did he really jump?”

The boss goes back to see if he actually jumped, and he actually jumped:

Boss: “This kid is crazy.”

Then the boss sees Amai struggling and drowning. The boss takes out his cell phone and jumps into the pool to save Amai:

Boss: “Are you okay?…”
