Part 5 "THE SOLDIER'S LAST KISS"

I watched my wife put our children to bed.

She looks happy as she combs our dauther's hair with her fingers.

"Mom, can you tell me how you and dad met?" the melodious tone of our daughter.

My wife smiled and she looked at the ceiling.

"I met him when we were still in high school. He's fourth year while I am still first year," she uttered.

"The age gap between you and dad is huge, mom. Age really doesn’t matter," our dauther's answer.

"I used to be bullied at school because I was a weird person. But your dad always saves me from bullies, the day he saved me he was like a hero to me," she laughed at her story.

"He's a good man. He looks like your prince charming armor," my dauther said happily.

"At first I thought I was the only one he was saving but there were many of us. I thought, he only became a hero to me but I found out that he was everyone's hero. Ten years later, we met again. I became a doctor while he became a soldier. He courted me until he became my husband. We love each other so you two came into our lives. We were happy when you came, I became a good mother and he also became a good father. One night he came home wounded, I was angry with him and I told him not to be a soldier anymore because I didn’t want to lose him. But he just answered me and he said 'MY DREAM IS TO SAVE PEOPLE, MY DREAM IS TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY.' And I remember my dream was also to save people, and what I hoped to happen, I married someone with a passion. A few months later, he was assigned to a province for a mission. He kissed me on the lips and before he left, he said something to me and he said

'JOHANA, WHEN I DIE DON'T CRY.' Do you think that was really your soldier father's last kiss to me?" She asked and when she looked at it, our daughter was sound asleep.

She smiled and she adjusted the blanket. "Two years ago before you died, darling. But I can’t believe that was the last time you kissed me. You told me not to cry but I'm here, I am crying now," she said sadly as her tears slowly trickled down her cheeks.

I want to wipe away her tears but I can't ..... because I'm just a soul now.

I am here as a spirit to kiss her one last time.

I asked God, that before I left this world I asked if I could kiss my wife at least for the last time.

"I love you so much, darling." I said while my tears flowed and I knew she couldn't see or hear me but I approached her and hugged her.

This is my last time as a spirit here on this earth, because in the two years I have been here on this world, I have understood and accepted my death.

I kissed her on the lips and before I stood up I kissed her on the cheek, even though she didn't know atleast I kissed her one last time.

When I looked at my foot I was slowly disappearing so I stood up properly and saluted her.

"Don't cry my love, because I am a soldier born to die."
