-Colonel, 1930, 3rd October-

It was a Tuesday morning, which to my horror, meant my first day in a new school.

I hoped our teacher wasn't as nasty and horrid as Mr. Will, he would 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 punish us, and for the smallest things as well. He loved seeing us wince with the pain of several hard smacks on our backs with the cane. Charlotte, my older sister never got smacked, it was only me and Clarence who got the smacks out of the family. I'm the youngest, Charlotte is the middle, and Clarence is the oldest. Being the youngest really isn't the best, I get teased by Clarence all the time - and for Charlotte, she's the worst. She's just stuck up and rude, but she sticks up for me when she gets the chance.

Back to topic, our teachers' name was Mr. James, he was absolutely terrible. Can't stand him, worse than Mr. William. Don't know why, but he always targeted me, thankfully Clarence was always there to stand up for me, but I wish he wasn't. He would get ruler to the knuckles, 10 times, his hand would always go bright red - he never winced, nor made a sound, he was brave, and proud, I was proud of him, he was strong.

I got sat next to a girl, her name was Molly. She was very pretty, and kind. The eldest in the class she was, Ms. Luis told me my boot laces were untied, she said to tie my laces. I tried, but I couldn't. It was embarrassing - I saw Thomas snickering with his group of friends. Mr. James noticed, but didn't do anything. Molly bent down and tied my laces, I wiped my teary eyes and smiled. She didn't look at me, all her focus on my laces. After, we locked eyes, and she smiled at me, I felt I had a friend, a good, good, friend.

At small play, I untied my laces, and tried myself, after a few attempts, I got it. Molly grinned at me from afar, but I didn't get the chance to smile back because she was crowded by giggling girls. I wish I could talk to her, to start a conversation with her, but she was obviously always getting side tracked.

After school, I would go home to Joey, and Mother, Charlotte and our dog, Tim. Clarence would always be walking with me, and soon enough, Molly joined in. She became our friend, our best friend, she always came over for dinner, sometimes secretly. Her parents were extremely strict, only let her go out for 8 hours a day - 9am till 4pm. It was sad to see Molly go, we all liked having her over. She came over at half eleven though, less time with us. Us three would go poaching on the Colonels' land. It was a secret, of course, illegal, we did it without his permission. He had the best, salmon was our greatest find. We never ever got caught, that was until a month after, it went terribly wrong. Molly caught a fever and stayed in bed, we went over to her house to see what was up. We knocked several times before her parents opened up. They seemed incredibly irritated, they said, "Molly's ill, now get lost you two, she doesn't want to see you."

Of course we knew that wasn't true, she needed me and Clarence. Why wouldn't she like to see us? So, Clarence and I went marching down to the Colonels' land, and set up our area. I was the type of person who fell asleep if bored. I got bored and fell asleep, which was a bad mistake.

I woke up to the feeling of being dragged, and the sound of someone cursing at me and Clarence, and a dog gnarling angrily, defensively. I opened my blurry eyes and realized it was the Colonels' guard dragging me, my arm hurt, i cane to my senses that the stupid dog had bit me..
