Episode 11

ALANA

I can no longer stand Mr. Ice in his overprotective role, he doesn't let me go anywhere alone. He assigns me a shadow named Leo; I call him Mr. Ice Two because he's just as cold as my dearest husband, or even worse if that's possible. It has been a week since the unpleasant visit from Fabian Rodriguez, and I hope to never see him again. My icy husband suggested that I see a psychologist because I have been feeling somewhat sensitive since that day at the office. My body trembles at the mere thought of living in that house again. Christopher and Chris hug me to sleep and I feel safe, although for the past two nights, my little one said he would no longer sleep with us because he is a big boy and wants a little sibling. I wonder where he got those ideas, although I strongly suspect it was my dearest mother-in-law who told him that since she has been visiting our house quite often lately. I wonder where she leaves my father-in-law and what her intentions are. Although I can imagine them, Christopher says I should ignore her and that she will get tired of trying to bring us closer together. According to him, that's how he has survived his mother. So, I followed his advice and didn't pay any attention to her.

My friend Carmen always comes to visit me, and together we play with my little one in the pool or in the vast garden. We also have movie nights since the mansion has a private cinema room, and I love it. Even though I've only just started at university, I enjoy going there very much. I have crossed paths a couple of times with my sister Lucia; she greets me, and I can see a sadness in her eyes. I don't know what's happening with her, but today I am determined to find out. I haven't approached her because she also has bodyguards, which seems strange to me. But today, I will find out why she acts this way and why such great sorrow is evident in her eyes.

"Are you sure about doing this?" Carmen, my accomplice, asks.

"Yes, something is wrong with her and I want to find out what it is," I responded confidently.

"Alright, I'll distract her bodyguard, but if he takes advantage of me, it'll be your fault," says my friend, and I look at her as if she doesn't know that the poor bodyguard is the one at risk, and he's not bad looking at all.

Carmen starts doing her job, and when I see that she successfully captures the attention of my sister's bodyguard, I take Lucia into the bathroom, surprising her with my action.

"What's wrong with you, Alana? Are you crazy?" she asks, astonished.

"No, I want to know what's wrong with you," I ask as I lock the door and make sure nobody else is there.

"Nothing is wrong with me," she responds, somewhat dejected.

"I know you, Lucia. You can fool our parents and friends, but not me. I know every single one of your gestures, although we only spoke once when we were kids. I saw you grow up, and every one of your gestures is ingrained in my mind. Now, tell me what's happening," I say, and she looks at me, tears streaming down her face.

"My parents want to force me to marry an older man, but I don't want to," she says, crying. Instinctively, I hugged her.

"Why? Who is this man?" I ask, worried.

"They say they can't survive solely on the grandfather's allowance, and a friend of mom's offered them a millionaire deal if I married him. That man is forty years old and disgusting, Alana. I refused, but they didn't care, so they hired that man to monitor me until the wedding, which will take place in a couple of days," she says, still with tears in her eyes.

"You are of legal age; they can't force you. You're 18 years old," I said, looking at her.

"If I don't do it, they'll throw me out on the street, and you know we have no family to take me in," she says sadly.

"You're coming with me," I say firmly.

"What about your husband?" she asks, concerned.

"Well, he'll have to accept it. Or I'll take you to the apartment our grandfather left me. But if you're sure you no longer want to live with them, let's go right now," I say, looking into her eyes.

"They'll get angry and come looking for us," she says, scared.

"I promise you, I will help you hide and you can study online for a while, this university allows it. Or do you prefer to marry that man?" I asked.

"No, I'll go with you. But what about the bodyguard?" she asked, and I smiled.

"Carmen will take care of that. That's the advantage of having an attractive and young bodyguard," I said, taking out my cellphone.

📲 "We want to leave without being seen. Can you manage that?" I typed and waited for her response, which didn't take long.

📲 "You can go, don't worry about me. This Greek god is about to give me the best night of my life, or so I hope," the audacious one replied.

📲 "Alright, good luck and take care. I don't want to become an aunt just yet," I wrote.

📲 "Don't worry, there's no party without a hat. I love you, and don't interrupt anymore," I responded and saved the message.

"Ready, let's go," I said and we ran to the car where the driver and Leo were waiting.

"Let's go to the mansion," I said as we got into the car, and they obeyed.

"Leo, do you know if my husband is already at the mansion?" I asked.

"No, ma'am. He went to pick up two important people at the airport and they will go to the mansion afterwards," the cold Leo replied.

"Great, and do you at least know who the guests are?" I asked because he hadn't told me anything.

"No, ma'am," he said, and I looked at my nervous sister.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine," I said, taking her sweaty hands.

Upon arriving at the mansion, I asked her to turn off her cellphone. If that man really wants to marry her, he might track her. As soon as I can, I'll buy her a new cellphone. Now, I have to wait for my icy husband. I hope he's in a good mood and willing to help me. Lucía and I stayed in the guest room for a while. My little one arrived and I introduced him to his Aunt Lucía. Just like Carmen, he fell in love with my little one and showered him with kisses. I heard the sound of a car and looked out the window to see my beloved icy man. He stepped out of the car with a grim expression, accompanied by two other men.

"Take care of your aunt, I need to talk to your dad," I told my little one, getting down to his level.

"Yes, Mommy, I'll take care of her, don't worry," he said happily, and I walked away with my heart racing. I only pray that he supports me in this.
