Listening to what that man and his wife were doing to their own daughter filled me with rage. If it weren't for Alana, I would have killed that man right there, but she asked me not to dirty my hands. I pushed the old man out of my office and handed him over to security to be escorted out of the company. I don't want him near Alana or my son. When we arrived at the mansion, Alana was more sentimental than usual. I didn't want to leave her alone; I felt the need to protect her with my life. After reading a story together to our son, we went to our bedroom to prepare for sleep. Of course, I held her in my arms, as I do every night since we got married. Alana has suffered so much, and now that I know it, I see her differently. I need to make my brother Cristobal and my friend Ian come back; they will help me uncover every dirty secret of that family. I cannot allow them to come near Alana, and for that, I must have all their information. I cannot be caught off guard; I must protect Alana. Throughout the night, I thought about how to protect Alana, while she slept on my chest. She is truly beautiful, and if she weren't a child, I would have tried to conquer her. But that cannot be; I won't attempt anything with her. I don't want us to get hurt in this marriage. I don't want it to end badly, and I don't want my son to pay the price for it. That's why we can only be friends. When feelings get involved, something always goes wrong. I don't know why Alana is stirring something inside me, and I cannot allow it. After thinking so much, I finally managed to rest, but I didn't sleep much, as I was awakened by a small earthquake.

"Dad, wake up! We're ready for school, and you have to go to work," Chris says, jumping on the bed.

"I'm already awake, champ. I'll get ready now. Where is your mom?" I asked, not seeing her.

"She's done with breakfast. She asked me to wake you up before we leave for school," he says.

"I'll take you guys. Tell your mom to wait for me downstairs," I said as I walked towards the bathroom.

"Sure, dad," he runs away, and I enter the bathroom. I quickly shower to wake up, get ready, and come out. When I arrive at the dining room, Alana has finished breakfast.

"Good morning. I'll have some coffee, and then we can leave," I tell her.

"Good morning, but aren't you going to have breakfast?" she asks.

"No, I have breakfast at the office," I drink my coffee, and we leave. We drop off our son at school and continue on our way to the university.

"Alana, I want to tell you that starting tomorrow, you'll have a bodyguard," I said, and she looked at me.

"Don't you think it's too much?" she asks, looking at me.

"No, I don't think so. If your father had found you alone, you would be at his house now, and that's not what you want, right?" I ask her seriously.

"Well, no. But I don't want someone following me everywhere," she says, a bit sad.

"I'm sorry, but the decision has been made. I promised your grandfather I would protect you, and I will," I said as I parked the car at the university entrance.

"Fine. See you," she says sadly, and gets out. I don't know why seeing her sad puts me in a bad mood, but it's for her protection.

I head to the office, but when I arrive, I can't concentrate. I need to know everything about that family. So, I decide to call my brother.

📱 "My dear brother Christopher, what brings about the miracle of your call, Mr. Ferrer?" my brother foolishly answers.

📱 "I need you to come back and bring Ian with you. I need help with a matter concerning my wife," I go straight to the point.

📱 "Oh, my poor brother can't handle his wife? Hahaha, don't tell me you're losing your touch, brother," the clown says.

📱 "Enough with your foolishness. This is serious. I need you both here," I say seriously.

📱 "Okay, from your voice, I can see it's serious. I'll leave as soon as possible. I'll tell Ian," my brother says.

📱 "Make it as fast as possible," I request.

📱 "As you wish, sir," my brother responds, and hangs up.

I need to know soon about that family, I also want to know about their biological mother, why she abandoned her from one day to the next after taking care of her until she turned four, it doesn't make sense, there's something hidden here and I will discover it sooner or later, I just hope nothing bad happens before I uncover it. I don't want to see Alana and my son suffer, they've already had enough with what Alana went through with her family and my son with his mother's abandonment and my lack of affection. It's time for them to be happy, they deserve it.
