Chapter 16

    The journey ahead didn't give us any problems at hand, luckily we didn't encounter thieves and bandits.

    The one that we miraculously encounter is but a wild beasts roaming around. Yes, a beast that reminds me of a bear's head and a wolf's body. Something like I've never seen before, yet I've known about it for some time. 

    I read from history books about the existence of demonic beasts which had been influenced by the abnormalities of this world's present, some said, it was a sign that the sleeping demon is finally awakened and their demonic presence affects beasts behaviors and appearances. 

    While others proclaim that this is a disease only beasts are affected. The belief of magic and science is sometimes different in theory, but I agree with both in a definition of what they said. 

    Both of their theories have the same meaning, as much as they refuse to admit. The demonic beasts are diseased, that's true, however, the cause of this disease came from the awakening of the demon (clan) or such in a way I described.

    The books stated that the awakening of the demon lord is coming in handy, that is the reason some said that the demon clan is reviving from death. 

    This world had fought against demons, unlike my former world, the demon lord was defeated by the goddess that has given us strength in battles... However, that tale about the goddess defeating the demon lord was much more likely but a children's story and has no proof of its existence.

    In this world, only a hunch that appears to be valid, same as true to my former world. This world has a calling for an ability or magic, the belief of having magic is the proof of having demon lord existence valid. Compared to my world, abilities are valid as a curse for us human beings. 

    However, in this world, magic is applicable but only to those few. 

    Here... A light magic user (light mage) is important to an empire or kingdom. Why? The light mage has the ability to cure, heal and eradicate future diseases, or incurable pandemics that science can't cover up. 

    A light mage is prioritized at all cause, with its healing abilities to cure and fix the army, one battle will turn to its favor when having a light mage to its disposal.

    There are also elemental magics, however, like light mage, it is very rare by most, cause not everyone is capable of manifesting magic. Unless of course you will pray for the devil's mercy, they might give you an Artificial Heart.

    It is inhumane but can manifest in our body, unless of course we die from the after effects, that means we aren't capable of wielding magic. Now you know why mage is rarely to be seen in this world. 

    My former world as well... I went through an artificial magic transplant, that is why, I know things... 

    So about the beast, we encounter it as we passed through [ Teanight Forest ], and they are about five demonic beasts roaming around, it can also sense human flesh that's why we got attacked unexpectedly.

    Anna and I went into hiding but with them unable to make a scratch on the demonic beast it was disappointing to watch, Anna was shaking in fear that I can understand. Demonic Beast kills whenever they sense human flesh, they don't give mercy and never did they tirelessly chase after their victims.

    The shortest route to the port was recommended by Eclise, one of my escorts. I thought he knew about this place more than I do but in the end, I just discovered how regretful I am to trust a an idiotic man like him to recommend a route.

    Jeez! Should I have first asked how he knew about this route first, now we are stuck because of him! This will delay us further to our destination, and the demonic beasts look so fierce for their own good. 

    It's like watching a grown man playing childrens swordplay. It's disgusting! 

    "Anna, take this and protect yourself while I'm gone, " I give her a piece of knife I took from the training field without anyone's notice. 

    She gave me a stern look and she scanned the knife, then she looked at me frightened. "No, milady! You should stay here with me, where are you going? I'm coming--- "

    "You cannot fight in a battle you are not meant to stand, please Anna, take this and protect yourself from any danger while I'm gone, I need to help those fools from dying, " she shakes her head unable to let me off, she tightened the grip on my hands and she closed her eyes.

    Giving a close sigh, I patted her shoulders. "Don't worry, I'm more capable than you have thought of me, please, " I begged and when I begged again, she ended up nodding silently and letting my hands go.

    "Promise me, come back alive! "

    That's what she said before I left the place where we had been hiding . Of course, I didn't recklessly attack, I first went to the nearby wagons where we put our supplies and searched for weapons. Wooden swords are unacceptable, because of my age and my strength. I cannot fight in this height and in this size while being portrayed as a 10-years-old.

    Furthermore, this is the reason why I tortured my body in secret to train and exercise alone while father was leaving the day, giving me time to train this weak body of mine to survive any weight of weapons of the size I needed to carry. 

    This wagon is filled with weapon supplies and food supplies, so it was not difficult to find one weapon suitable for me. I grabbed the sword and scanned the weight, and it's good because it is not heavy. Rapier is not that much heavier than a dug weapon which makes it heavier than my weight.

    Rapier is a perfect sword for me, although I still like eastern style swords, samurai swords and katana, but this is enough to work for me, I am not picky in weapons. Unless there is a blade, I can work with it even if a useless wooden sword can serve its final worth.

    I smiled in reassurance before I went off the wagon. The fire on the forest is spreading, maybe created by the demonic beast?No, it’s not like I care about it. I see smoke coming from the sky, so I track down the location where they are fighting.

    The swords handle covered me from the attack of the demonic beast, then I used rapier to dodge its attack from left to right, the demonic beast weighted was heavy so his movements is also getting slower than before, I can sense the beast from getting tired now that he had fought me in battle. 

    My hands shook in the vibration of his hands clashing with the rapier, so I took a breath and pushed it away from us, much more 'throw him away' is the right word for it. This is the last demonic beast I'm going to crash this day, unfortunately, it's tougher than I had imagined.

    "Milady! " Eclise called but I didn't have time to turn around, the demonic beast had recovered from his injury and now running towards us. 

    I breathed deeply and clashed with him like a tornado to push him back further from me and my knight escort. I then swung the rapier to its foot which didn't cause any damage because of its thick stone body armor.

    I noticed that the surrounding, the trees and everything was destroyed. I've been pushing the demonic back slowly and surely so the forest has been destroyed by it. Also, the defeated demonic beast's body had scattered around and he's the only one alive.

    God, he's too thick for his own good. He covered himself with stone armor that my rapier can't get through, I can't yet to alter and see its weakness that's why I'm struggling. However, I barely noticed that my stamina had never been tired all this time. 

    In my former life, one of my magic abilities is that I cannot feel tired once I start fighting, my body won't be exhausted even though I fought for 20 minutes. This ability has helped me in my battles. 

    It can't be, right? It's a artificial magic, once the body dies, so it's artificial magic, so having to say that I possessed this is impossible! 

    I shocked my head and focused myself within the demonic beasts roars. 

    "Milady, look out! " 

    My body immediately dodged a stone that came flying to my way, I didn't notice that, could the demonic beast have the ability to throw things? Furthermore, I didn't waste anymore time and clashed with him one more time. 

    Yet this time, my hands got injured and numbed from the repeated clashings. I was thrown back, and ended up falling on the ground.

    "Milady! " I hear calls when my eyes become blurry, I can see the blue sky, although I cannot see it clearly, my mind is flush with the memories I have back in my former world, happy memories that don't exist and sad memories that I cannot comprehend. 

    I soaked myself with my heavy breath and smile. As I can hear the voices of the knights calling out my name, and the earthquake of the ground as I can sense the demonic beasts from coming, my laugh becomes louder and I hold the ground. 

    I can fill it.... The remaining magic I had left, the artificial magic within me, and myself who enjoys anarchy. These feelings that I once forgot, the ability, the magic created from sacrifices and my memories since the day I became Seira Latina Crambell.

    How will I forget myself and live as a lady? I cannot... The battlefield is calling out my name... [Battle Reaper, Shinigami of the east, take this and protect those you have loved, this is your last mercy from us...]
