"You've been jogging for almost three hours, that's unfair for your body, here, have some water."
Nora handed a bottle of mineral water to Auriane after helping her with a white cotton towel that she used to dry her sweaty face. However she still felt that her body was too sticky with the sweat that rolled down her body.
She couldn't take much of Nora's worried complaints to thought, as her mind kept wondering about. Besides, her mind had never stopped wondering about since her reborn, she seems to be preoccupied with many issues and several questions remained unanswered in her mind. Each floating memories tend to give her a head ache, but it was exactly this head ache that made her reminded herbthat she needed to be stronger. Not only did she need to be mentally strong to defend against the scheming White's and her father. But few of her memories, though painful reminded her that she had to be physically strong as well.
Although in her past life, order to survive in the cruel mafia world she had learned some defense tricks, she hadn't laid a strong foundation in combat and her stamina could barely keep her breath stable. So gaining more strength was absolutely imperative, but Nora probably wouldn't understand it, so she could only get worried when seeing her thirteen year old kid sister come back drenched in sweat.
She had left the house early at 6:00am and had only come back at exactly 7:50am, practically absorbing the freezing cold and morning dew with her feeble body. Nora sighed when she looked at her skinny sister who's sport wear had become baggy on her, leaving enough space for another additional Auriane which probably would still fit to leaving a free space.
Nora sighed
"It's my fault that I didn't take care of you, if I ..."
Auriane cut Nora off as soon as she realized her regrets and pitiful look. How could she not know what Nora was about to she didn't need two lives to know her sister's earnest thoughts, but she indeed needed two lives to be able to tell who to cherish and who to despise. She despised the White's to the core and only cherished her sister.
If it hadn't been for her running about the streets begging for a doctor to save her when she had caught a cold, no one would know that Auriane White had once existed. Her name would have probably been forgotten with time and her death celebrated with the brightest fire work by Stella.
Her father had never paid attention to her existence, giving the pretentious step mother an unyielding authority to stomp over her and treat her as an outcast right from birth.
Her mother had fallen ill soon after her birth and only survived for eight to ten consecutive days to admire her little baby's face and barely watch her open her clear ever green eyes that had once elated with her innocent smile.
' The first time you were placed in mother's arms, you smiled so brightly that anyone who saw you felt warmth in their heart. It was such a heartfelt moment, that even mother who's frail body was giving away couldn't help but carry you longer even though she was exhausted.'
Nora had once told her and apart from the few descriptions of her mother, she only knew her mother through the last picture that had been left behind. It was barely a square picture who's image and colours were slowly fading away, but the dazzling smile of her mother was still clearly visible.
She was a tall brunette, who's beauty had the power to charm the wind and invoke the sun to pour above her. She heard many times from her sister that she looked exactly as the young maiden her mother had once been. However, apart from the beautiful features and dainty appearance, her bright copper hair and ever green eyes differed from her lovely black curls and coffee brown eyes. Her father neither had the rest of her features.
But it didn't matter who the rest of her features came from. Her mother's foster family sold her to the Whites for merely three million dollars, cutting all ties with her mother, but barely treating her as a merchandise. Now she was death, she definitely had nothing to do with the money mongers, only Nora was her only family and the only reason why she had to live on.
"...Sister, there's no need to worry about me, I'm not so frail as to pass out in the middle of no where after a few laps in the early rising day."
Nora smiled band ruffled Auriane's head which became slightly messy. However its exquisite bright copper hair texture gave off the image of a transparent glass that had been filled to the brim with whiskey and a few ice cubes slowly melting in it. The feeling that it gave at a touch was soft and pleasant, even if she barely took time to care for it.
"I'm not worried that you might pass out from working out, neither that you might get suppressed by Stella. The confrontations you put yesterday was enough to set my heart half at ease."
To be precise Nora was not completely at ease and it was comprehensive. Living with a family Iike that of the White's, life and death was constantly being weighed. Even the air around the house was cold and threatening. Even she felt pressure lodging with the same people who caused he doom. However, that was the only home she had for the moment.
"Father is not back, so Stella is not much a trouble after yesterday. But I can't guarantee a good fortune once he's back, it is just like calm before the storm."
Nora explained, glancing at her sister who had always feared their father, at the mention of his name she would start shivering. Her body responds always proved how scared she was about Alfred. However, Nora was unable to detect any hint of fear in her after mentioning her worst nightmare.
She used to be extremely scared of Alfred, but Auriane that stood in front ofher didn't seem bothered at all as she gulped down the last drop of mineral water.
Her father was indeed a nightmare in her pastlife and her body always protested when the cold blooded father was mentioned. He barely spent time at home because of his business trips and numerous conference, but once he came back. His high pitch voice and cold aura was enough to make her break in cold sweat.
The biased Mr .White had never spared her any glance, but joined hands with Stella to make her life miserable. He only had his son and daughter in the eyes, and for her herself, she was nothing but an eyesore.
A bastard that was readily prepared for him to lash out whips on to vent his frustrations. Few of the whips he had lashed on her body were barely fading away from the previous beating.
