She Only Had One Family

"Don't move, I need to disinfect your wound, just how are you taking care of yourself?"

   Nora sat on the little mahogany bed, with a fluffy mattress; trying to clean an injury that had been hidden by Auriane's bright copper hair. She would have forgotten about it if Nora hadn't caught a glimpse of it.

She had been so engrossed in saving her sister that she forgot about the pain caused due to her fall from the tree.

"You shouldn't neglect such injuries, what if it got infected."

"Then it was worth letting it get infected, but I would have regretted if I came late. At that time when Aunt Stella brought those neighbors she didn't only intend to kick you out, she wanted to ruin your reputation."

Nora paused for a while, but she didn't say anything because she didn't need to. Even if Auriane hadn't reminded her she wouldn't have been oblivious about it. She knew from the start that Stella had never acknowledged her presence in the White's residence. But she even acknowledged it less when Nora resisted her justly, leaving no reason to blame her.

How wouldn't she know that her step mother had been setting all types of chase plan on her. Maybe she failed today because of an unexpected event called Auriane. However, Stella wasn't someone who gave up so easily, she would probably find other methods.

Maybe her next move might be fatal, but Nora wasn't scared for herself, she was afraid that Auriane would be the one suffering. Now that she challenged Stella, Auriane was bound to become an enemy of hers.

Seeing that her sister hadn't said a word but she was rather emerged in her thoughts, Auriane could guess what was in her mind. In her past life her sister cared a lot about her, nothing was more important than her in the eyes of her sister.

But because of Angel's influence, Auriane had never been able to realize how much Nora had sacrificed for her. Bearing Stella's abuse and ill treatment, becoming nothing but Cindy's brain to help in her exams and assignments. Nora never once had a time for herself, neither did she have a childhood, because before she could know what it felt like to walk on her own without the support of a parent, a three month baby was placed in her arms.

Stella never once took care of Auriane as she tried to make everyone believe, not even once did she lift her even if she slipped and fell from the couch. The little baby that Auriane was at that time had to rely on the four year Nora for everything.

If it hadn't been for Nora's efforts, perhaps the existence of Auriane White would have been nothing but mere history. However, at the end, Nora was unfairly killed in her past life. Breathing her last breath, Nora still cared about her, leaving her last economy in her hand.

But in this life Auriane was determined to give her sister the best life ever, maybe now she was penniless without any qualifications, but in the future she would stand high and her sister by her side.

"Nora!", Nora was startled by Auriane's sudden reaction in grabbing her wrist. Her hand was stopped in the air the moment she was about to clean her forehead.

"Nora, I ...I'm sorry, I was really mean to you in the past, you did so much for me, but ..."

"Silly girl, why are you apologizing, you didn't do anything wrong. I understand that you were disappointed with me. As a sister I wasn't even able to protect you and when you needed me the most, I left for the capital city..."

"But, I shouldn't have blamed you for that, the central City is a lovely place and it has a lot of junior high schools and several senior high schools but the schools in tbe capital city are more amazing with a lot of advantages that the central City can't still compare with. Besides the best school is in the capital and you even received an admission, I was being selfish by trying to stop you from going."

   Not only was she selfish, but she was stupid when she tried to stop Nora from going to the capital city to enroll in senior highschool. She had listened to Angel and almost ruined her sister's future.

The advice she received from Angel was probably an order from Stella, because Angel wouldn't be the one to profit from it, but the aunty and nice could take advantage of it. They knew that Nora would listen to her and wouldn't bare to leave for the capital. However, their plans changed and Nora still went away.

But it was still another advantage to create more discord between her and her sister. Either way, their decision would still become an advantage for them, which proved how scheming Stella and her disciples were.

"Maybe I should have made the choice to stay.", Nora broke the silence among them, she kept aside the first aid box. Her expression turned gloomy, but she still forced a smile.

"Maybe I shouldn't have left you, the capital city was a good place, but I came back with another worry for you. Are you mad at me?"

Even if Nora didn't mention it, Auriane could understand that she was talking about the the little creature growing in her. Her voice was trembling, but she didn't have any hint of hate when she thought about the feotus.

Other girls who ended up with a pregnancy from rape would despise the feotus in their abdomen and choose abortion as a solution. But that wasn't the case with Nora, she didn't hate the baby, but she was just afraid that she wouldn't be able to raise a child properly.

"Sister, you raised me by yourself, and this time I'll help you raise my niece or nephew."

Auriane didn't question her sister about the baby, she didn't need to watch her carefully to know that behind her fear she was elated. She never had the intention of being pregnant at that age, in such a circumstance and certainly not for a stranger. But now that the baby was on its way, who as she to interrupt?

But that wasn't their worry, she raised Auriane even at her young age, though their ages were slightly close, Auriane was not only a kid sister for her, she was all her life. 

"Auriane, Stella isn't someone to be trifled with. Today you humiliated her, she definitely wouldn't let go. In the past you were able to live a smooth because..."

"...I acted as an obedient puppet!"

   Auriane cut Nora off, completing the sentence that had to balance on her lips. But Nora didn't need anyone to remind her how her life had been when she was a puppet. Her life wasn't smooth at all, it was just a time bomb attached to her body, torturing her after every fatal tick. 

How could she go back to a life of a dog, and end up as nothing more but a brush to draw a clean path for Angel and make life smoother for the waved. To be exact she was nothing more but the hand that drew a better fate for the Whites, once they no longer needed her, they just had to toss her away.

"Nora, such a life can't be considered smooth, we were born free, shouldn't we decide on our life, why should we let others decide our fate for us?"

  Now that she was reborn how could shefollowe thesame path that led to her ruin. 'Impossible!' 

As Auriane was deep in her thoughts she felt a warm pair of hand landing gently above her head and the gentle smile of her sister could only warm her heart. In this world where there was only hate, jealousy and evil schemes, there was still someone who loved her unconditionally.

"I'm glad, my little sister has grown up, so I can rest assured."

   The warm touch didn't only end up warming the top of her bright copper hair. Her words also touched Auriane deeply, making her to forget about revenge. At that moment she only wanted to live the life she had lost with her sister, go to places and do things that they hadn't been able to do in her past life. 

In this life she had only one family...
