Unfairly Condemned

No, it was certainly not just an impression, because the smile that drew Auriane's little lips proved it all. The little brat had suddenly become wise and her words were as sharp as a spear. She hadn't realized it till now, but her words seemed to carry either poison or a trap, leaving others the only option to either die or get trapped in her world.

"You're certainly filial,then you can tell us how sister got involved with a man in your line of sight and the careful inspection of the school."

Cindy found herself in another dilemma, one was a poisonous pond and the other was a trap waiting for her. If she said it had indeed happen in school, then wouldn't it mean she was lying. Their school was a prestigious one, if parents linked Nora's incident with the school, further investigation would be made and not only would her schemes be revealed, but the school might blame her for slander. The level of inspection in school was way too strict for any intimate approach between students, so it was obvious that Nora didn't get involved with any one from school.

  And she couldn't say that it happened on their way back from the capital, that would only mean she was part of the adulterous scene. She definitely couldn't admit that she was the witness, then she could only implicate herself as an unconscious witness. Then she was left with no other choice but to jump into the pond and play an innocent victim about to drown.

"I remember, junior cousin and I had been invited by friends to celebrate your graduation. We merried the whole night and but I passed out because of my low alcohol tolerance."

"At that time Nora had been chatting with few boys that I vaguely recall...Nora, could it be that at that moment, actually you... This, I knew that we shouldn't have gone to that party, but you insisted so much...sniff, it's all my fault."

   Cindy didn't finish her words in one breath, but it was obvious that she was hinting to the fact that Nora actually went far with the other guys when she passed out. Hearing this, Nora couldn't keep quiet anymore when she watched Cindy's fake tears.

How could she accept such a shameless respond from the one whom she protected. She was obviously the one that insisted on joining in the party and had forcefully pulled her along with her.

"Cindy, I might be quiet, but I'm not deaf!"

   Everyone was startled by Nora's sudden respond, after keeping quiet the whole time. She had listened to her sister who defended her and even when Cindy at times tried to twist the story and behave innocent, she didn't interrupt. 

She had no intention to interrupt because she had enjoyed the feeling of being defended by her sister, but as a sister how could she sit still and watch others bully her sister. Auriane was smart and she had defeated Stella and Cindy like a professional. But at the end she was still a child who could easily be fooled by Cindy, just because she wasn't a witness if that horrible night.

That same night that destroyed her life because she decided to answer to Cindy's request after being pressurized by her. As for what happened during the merry moment, it was obviously Cindy who spent a lot of time chatting with other men.

As for her, she barely gulped down a glass of soda a glass of soda that led to a blackout. The only memories she had after were the blurry view of a man that lay above her and the excruciating pain she had felt from his rough penetration. His face and features were completely unknown to her. 

Just because she wanted to please the wrong person, she lost her purity to a stranger.

"How could you say such things without shame, I only went to that party because you forced me to accompany you. If I hadn't gone, then ..."

"How dare you!"

   Stella once again stepped in, she couldn't sit behind and watch how the situation progressed. The silent neighbors who hadn't missed a single step started to have pity for Nora's tears. It was also clear from their expression that doubts had began to form in their heart.

Stella didn't like the direction at which the story was getting to and if it continued like that, Auriane would gain a success. She had already brought so many people as witness, if they really left with a image of her as an evil step mother, she would definitely lose face.

"How dare you implicate my niece in this, you shameless girl. It was fine to celebrate as teenagers, no one asked you to flirt with wild men. What am I supposed to do if others knew that my step daughter used the excuse of a party to sleep with men."

"Which family would rest assured to send their children to the capital to study. Won't they fear that those children would follow your shameless example. You really disappoint me!"

  Each words were directed to not only tarnish Nora's image, but Stella made use of the neighbors's children to evoke more hate and despise from them. Afterall, who wouldn't be scared to send their children to the capital with fear of Nora's situation catching up with their children.

She had once been a role model of every child in the little village, but now that she had done something so shameful. The neighbors obviously feared that their children might learn from her.

''Right, we can't let our children to be influenced by her."

"...Sigh the girl was such a virtuous child in the past, I even adviced my daughters to take her as a role model, now I regret..."

"...how would we have known that such a lovely girl could do such a thing..."

       Absolutely outrageous!

Auriane was infuriated by the neighbors who kept slinging mud at her sister. This same people had watched her and her sister grow up. They were present when their father abandoned their mother for a second wife. They were effectively present when they lost their mother and had to struggle to live. They watched Nora and knew her, but just the few words that Stella had said convinced them that Nora was a bad person. 

No body gave her sister the benefit of doubt, like hungry lions they were ready to pounce on her with insults. And like sheep that walked in group, they jumped wherever Stella Allan told them to jump. Auriane gave a sigh of disappointment when she realized the situation. In this life she really couldn't rely on any body to survive the cruel world. The people that smiled with you today would be the same people throwing stones on you the next day.

' No one was to be trusted.'

"We really can't let her stay here and influence our children."

"Yes exactly."

   Stella smiled, because even after the sudden turn of situation, her goal had been reached. How could a little girl that was born be able to compete with her?

"Did you hear that, Auriane. The decision was made by the villagers, your sister is to be blamed."

"Right, aunty blames sister because she believed that she sold herself. But what if my sister is innocent and she was actually the victim, won't you feel guilty for being unfair towards her. How would you face my late mother in this home which once belonged to her."

Though Aurian's words rang a bell in the mind of the villagers who were present and caused them to look at each other. It wasn't enough to convince them of their injustice towards Nora, but it made them think twice. They still weren't convinced that they had done something bad to owe apologies to a girl who sold her body to a man and now carried his child.

"Hmph, I'm not a vicious person I'll definitely not blame an innocent girl, especially a girl who was forcefully violated. But what proves does she have to say that she was actually violated."

   Stella was arrogant, she didn't believe that Auriane actually had proves, all the proves should have been destroyed in her hands.

The hospital that took care of Nora after the rape had detailed documents, but she had already destroyed it. With the distance from the capital to their little village, no one would pay attention to the rest.

"Then would aunt apologize to sister if I provide a solid prove?"

Stella would have confidently agreed to the simple request, but she felt uneasy, so uneasy that her lips became heavy at an instant.
