Episode 6

Meanwhile, Camila interrogates Nina upon seeing her talking to Max.

"What did that braggart want? He should stay away. Didn't he say he wanted nothing to do with you?" Camila grumbled, making Nina laugh.

"He just wants to erase that image I have of him. He's trying to play the nice guy, but I know he's just another jerk in this life, nothing special and certainly not an outstanding man," Nina said as she took a few rolls.

Not far away, Alexander listened to their conversation, raising an eyebrow. It seemed that Nina had fallen out of love with his brother abruptly and painfully, as there was no trace of the admiration she once felt for him.

"Max, come here, I want to talk to you," Alexander called his brother. Something had happened between them, and his brother's need to see her had to have a reason.

"Alexander, I'm not in the mood for jokes, seriously, I'm not in the mood," Max replied irritably. He couldn't digest Nina's audacity.

"What happened with Nina? She has a terrible opinion of you. To her, you're just another jerk, nothing special. When did you stop being the apple of her eye?" Alexander was a little annoyed. He had the notion that they would eventually get along because Nina was a gem.

"How do you know that? Did she tell you? Did she mention what happened at your wedding?" Max asked expectantly. At least it seemed she was willing to talk about that night.

"No, she was talking to Camila and referred to you in a derogatory way. What happened at my wedding? What did you do?" Alexander looked at him reproachfully, which was unusual for his usually kind and fun-loving brother.

Max sighed and told him what had happened, including the details with Celia, leaving his brother speechless.

"You had to sleep with her sister? Weren't there hundreds of women that night? She confesses her love for you, and you sleep with her sister right in front of her. She was just a girl, you could've shown a little pity," Alexander looked at him with reproach while Max simply nodded. His brother was right, but before they could continue, they were called to dinner, so they went to the table.

Brenda, upon seeing Nina and Max talking, had the ill-conceived idea of seating them together, while Lucia, Max's mother, was captivated by Nina. She hadn't seen her in years and thought she looked more beautiful than ever. So, she helped Brenda with her plan, which would trigger a negative reaction from Nina.

When she went to take her seat, she noticed there was only one spot next to Max, furrowing her brow. Camila saw this and immediately called her.

"Nina, come sit here. Lucas wants to talk to you. I'll sit there," Camila hurriedly took a seat next to Max, while Nina didn't need to be told twice.

Max frowned. Nina didn't even want to sit next to him, leaving everyone bewildered. Nina used to be infatuated with Max, and now he seemed like a pest to her.

Celia felt sad. Nina seemed to want nothing to do with that matter, so it was best to let it go. Someday she would get over it.

As they dined, they asked Nina about her studies, and she spoke enthusiastically. She had been doing great.

Alicia, Alex's wife, decided to ask a more personal question.

"Nina, you have become more beautiful. You must have a boyfriend or many suitors," she said, glancing at Max.

"Actually, I do have a boyfriend, but he was busy and couldn't come with me," Nina said unabashedly, leaving everyone speechless.

"What do you mean you have a boyfriend? You didn't tell me about this," Brenda said somewhat affected. She knew nothing about Nina's life during these four years.

"I didn't think it was important. It's not like we talked about marriage or anything like that. We're just dating for now, but we have no plans," she said indifferently as Max stared at her without blinking.

Lucia, Max's mother, decided to speak up.

"Well, if it's just a relationship without plans, then he's not the right one. I would like Max to settle down and get married already. You and my Max would make a lovely couple," Lucia said joyfully, while Nina smiled at her.

I believe the perfect couple at this table is Celia and Max; it seems like they are meant for each other," Camila said, looking at Nina to prevent her from getting upset by the comment.

"Aunt Lucia, don't mind her. We all know I have nothing to do with Max. It would actually be great if Nina and Max have a future together; they would be a match made in heaven," Celia said, a little nervously, trying to shift the focus to Nina and Max to escape the situation.
