Episode 5

Meanwhile, at the table, Nina and her friends were starting a drinking competition. Nina laughed as she challenged her friends, while they were confident that they would have to take a drunk Nina home.

The rounds began and the tequila shots filled and emptied quickly. Camila tried to keep up with the pace, Hanna and Mariel were already drunk and almost asleep, Lucas was very intoxicated, and Sebastián was putting up a fight but was about to give in. Meanwhile, Nina seemed as if she had been drinking water all this time.

Sebastián couldn't resist and fell, his face hitting the table, while Nina burst into a loud laughter. Max looked at her with a furrowed brow, not understanding how Nina was so good at drinking. He didn't like that. "What has she been doing abroad all this time?" he wondered as he watched her without blinking.

On the other hand, Nina just rummaged in Lucas' pocket and found his wallet. She paid the bill and then asked the guards to help her with her friends. Several taxis parked, and a slightly less intoxicated Camila took Hana and Mariel, while another taxi took Lucas and Sebastián. Nina simply turned around and walked to her vehicle, seemingly unaffected by the alcohol.

As she was about to get in, a familiar voice suddenly called her, causing her to turn.

"Hello, Nina. Long time no see," Max said, approaching with his hands in his pockets.

Nina turned and looked at him like any other person, without a trace of surprise or any emotions.

"Jefe Cannat, how have you been?" Nina said as she turned to her car, seeming uninterested in the response and merely extending a courtesy.

"Good, I didn't know you were in town, I would have picked you up," Max said as Nina turned around with a furrowed brow.

"Why would you do that? Jefe Cannat, I believe that would be an excessive gesture for a girl who plays with dolls. You should be attending to more important matters," Nina turned slightly annoyed, despising hypocritical people who pretended to be considerate and kind.

"Nina, about that, I wanted..." Nina wouldn't allow him to speak further; it was something she had worked hard to forget, and now it was just a bear in her life.

"It's not important, just a ridiculous and sappy girl who fell for a man unable to zip up his pants. That's normal, and I'm not the only one who has been through something like that. Now I'm leaving, have a good night, Jefe Cannat," Nina got into her car and drove away, leaving Max in a deafening silence.

Leonel approached his friend, watching the car disappear.

"For heaven's sake, she's beautiful. Celia isn't even a fingernail compared to Nina's beauty. I think you've messed up, Max," Leonel said without taking his eyes off the fading vehicle, while Max could only sigh. He thought it would be easier, but Nina has changed too much, clearly having no respect for him.

The next day, Nina sorted out her paperwork to return to university, while her mother, with Celia's help, organized a dinner in her honor since she was leaving the following day. As expected, the Cannat family was invited, and Celia called Camila to invite her friends. It would be a dinner with close family and friends.

When Nina returned, her mother asked her to get ready as there would be a dinner in her honor since she was leaving the next day.

Nina nodded, knowing what was about to happen, but she didn't care. It's better to satisfy their curiosity.

The guests arrived, and Nina descended in an outfit similar to what she had worn during the day, except she wasn't wearing any makeup, putting her mother in a precarious situation. Gone was her glamorous and delicate daughter.

Max arrived and went to greet her.

"Hello Nina, we meet again," he said with a smile as Nina nodded, expressionless, and said nothing more than looking at him.

"Jefe Cannat, we meet again," she said sarcastically, her words dripping with sarcasm.

"Nina, you don't have to call me that formally, just call me Max like before," Maximiliano was beginning to get irritated with her behavior.

"I would never be so disrespectful to my elders. There are generational gaps that should not be crossed," Nina said calmly, while Max wanted to spit blood (Is she calling me old?) Max thought indignantly.

"You used to claim to love this elder," Max was furious, he wouldn't allow this girl to treat him like that.

"I was young and ignorant. Now I know that there are boundaries that should not be crossed, especially in the name of a childish love. As you once said, I should forget what I said at that party to spare myself the embarrassment. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to talk to my friends," Nina waved her hand impolitely and went to talk to Camila and Lucas, who had just arrived.

Max clenched his teeth; he was so agitated that he wanted to spank her for being so audacious and childish.
