Episode 11

Leona

When I saw that huge black wolf leap and stop in the middle of the street, right in front of us, I shuddered. I was certain it was Condor, and he wasn't there without a reason; he was surely coming to take me. His eyes blazed like fire as he gazed at me, and I glanced at the grass-lined sides of the road, mentally mapping an escape route.

Thankfully, there was no confrontation, and now I'm here sitting next to him, pretending to enjoy the scenery, when his masculine, woodsy scent, blended with the smell of the forest he crossed to find me, invades my nostrils and stirs my libido. What is this feeling?

I spent five months with a human who had a penchant for more violent sexual practices and never once did I take pleasure or get aroused by it, but just being near him and inhaling this provocative scent has me wet already. My wolf is restless, and I don't understand why.

"Settle down, Leona! What's with the sudden heat?" I scolded myself.

"It's because he's come after us, and his wolf is brimming with intentions." I replied to my inner wolf.

"Now you're accepting him? Why, you traitor?" I continued the inner dialogue.

"Calm down and enjoy it; we're starting a new life, but there's a fight ahead, so savor the moment while you can."

She simply went silent and didn't respond further. The mischief-maker.

"What's wrong, your wolf isn't happy with something?" Condor asked.

"How did you know?"

"It's because Fred, my wolf, is going crazy wanting to do things with her." He laughed at his brazen words.

"Yeah, Leona is restless too, but don't forget I just gave birth to our pup three days ago."

"No worries, we know how to control ourselves, and we're eager to meet her. Whom does she look like?"

"A knee..."

"Don't be cruel, Luna. Sorry, but the little one is truly beautiful," Jade said.

"Sorry, your arrival was so sudden, I forgot to introduce them. This is Calil, from the Razor Claws Pack, and his mate Jade. She's a witch, the daughter of the sorcerer controlling the pack and responsible for the pups' abduction."

"And you're just telling me this now, while I'm driving?"

"Quit the theatrics! They escaped and sought me out; they’ll help us defeat that evil," I asserted angrily.

"We need to talk; I also have some important information. Why did you go back to that house?"

"Because I needed to retrieve my things and gather some information."

"I can't believe you risked going back there after everything."

"You mean after you killed my husbands."

"He had you hanging from chains with god knows what else he planned to do to you. You should be thankful instead of complaining."

"I'm not complaining, and you know nothing about why I was in that predicament or my suspicions about him. Dammit!"

I turned away to once again contemplate nature; we were nearing our destination, and I didn’t want to argue with this irrational brute. He pulled the car up in front of the house, led by Calil's directions, and I got out quickly as soon as he turned off the engine, hearing my baby's cries.

I rushed inside the house to find her in Drucila's arms, who was trying to get her to take the bottle.

"Good you're here, Luna, she wouldn't take the nipple of the bottle at all."

I took her in my arms and, sensing the smell of milk, she quieted down and rubbed her face against mine, searching for my breast. As I was about to open my blouse to bare my chest, the large hand of a certain Alpha grabbed me and yanked me upstairs.

"Not in front of other males. Only I can see my female's breasts."

"Asssshhhh! You ignorant brute, let me go!" I shouted, startling my baby who began to cry anew.

He moved down the hallway and went straight into my room, how he knew which it was, I have no idea. He released me and locked the door. I rushed to sit on the bed to quiet the little screaming mouth. I laid her on the bed and quickly removed my top and the pads, left in just my nursing bra provided by Drucila.

Once settled and nursing strongly, she calmed down, and Condor approached, placing a pillow under my arm for support and sitting on the other side. As I least expected, he bent down and began sucking on my other breast, drinking the milk that was leaking.

"What are you doing; have you lost your mind?"

Both he and the infant stopped nursing and looked at me, then he looked at his daughter, and she at him; it seemed as if they recognized each other. Then the most beautiful thing happened – she smiled at him. He seemed to be enchanted by her smile, nearly drooling, but she turned back to her meal, and he imitated her, and with that, I fell silent.

That was too much for me; feeling satisfied, I commanded him to stop:

"Enough, Condor, it's empty, get off my breast!" I tried to speak without shouting.

He let go and, facing me, remained staring at my face. Then he turned to his daughter who was still nursing.

"She's beautiful. What name have you given her?"

"Valentina, but I haven't managed to call her that yet."

"Then may I suggest another?"

"What would it be?"

"Sofia. My paternal grandmother's name. She was the finest Luna our pack ever had. Smart as well as strong and fierce."

"Fine, it will be Sofia Valentina. When she grows up, she can choose which she prefers to be called."

He looked at me, and without being able to stop it, I was kissed. It was not a harsh kiss, but one of recognition, tender and soft, and it ended quickly, leaving me wanting more. But as I looked at him, I felt insecure; his expression was stern, and his forehead creased. What could have happened? Did he not enjoy my kiss?

"You can't stay away from us; you'll have to come with me to the Moonflower Pack, and I won’t take no for an answer."

"You don't know anything about my life or this place, and you certainly don't own me to force me to go wherever you wish."

"I’ve told you, there’s no argument about this, you have two days to tell me everything, and then we decide if they'll join us or stay, but you and our daughter will definitely come with me."

He stood up and left the room, giving me no chance to respond, and how did I feel? Flustered and furious, but I tried to calm down for Sofia's sake and after she finished nursing, I'd sort this out.
