Lora was speechless.
"Mind your own business, we don't have any relations."
Didn't she save a fastidious man? Lora glared at him grumpily.
Evan smiled silently and found his strange emotion ridiculous. He let go of Lora and stood up.
"What's your name?"
Lora cautiously tooka step back, "Why?"
Displeased with her avoidance, Evan slightly bent down. His tall figure pressed dovwn, overshadowing Lora.
The air about the man was so awful that she flinched and replied obediently, "Lora Wood."
Only then did Evan straighten up, nod his head, and look down at her from the commanding height.
"I'll remember."
His husky voice was slow and joyful, but he spoke somewhat solemnly as if he bore her in his heart, which made Lora upset.
Evan took off a ring from his little finger and handed it to Lora.
As she looked at him in confusion, the man presented the ring closer.
"A gift for your help. You can find me with it, and I will grant your every request."
If an insider saw the ring, they would faint with excitement. This was the greatest token given by the Scott family, the most powerful family in North City.
More than a ring, it stood for paramount status, power, and wealth.
After a simple glance, Lora waved her hand, "I don't want it. Just don't tell anyone that I saved you."
Evan found the disdain on the girl's face both funny and annoying. Grabbing her hand, he directly put the ring on the girl.
Since it was too big for her little finger, he put it on her index finger. Before Lora could take it off, he crooked her fingers into a fist and then let go.
"Wear it and don't take it off!"The man's eyes looked solemn, and he spoke in a commanding tone. It seemed that the man often gave orders like a superior, and his overbearing air prevailed.
Before Lora could figure out what was going on, she heard herself reply.
"Oh."
Evan nodded in satisfaction, turned around, and walked out of the cave without another word.
Until the tall figure reached the entrance, Lora finally came to her senses. Out of instinct, she chased after the man, "Are you leaving?"
Evan didn't look back, and his figure disappeared quickly.
Lora somehow felt lost. She only learned that his nickname was Cowboy and didn't really know his real name. On a second thought, she didn't think they would meet again. Tossing her head, she soothed Gray and then hurried down the mountain.
When she returned home, Elsa's fever still hadn't subsided. People from the Wood family were very anxious and didn't believe her grandmother's leechcraft. They clamored to send for a doctor from the town.
Not interested, Lora rolled her eyes and entered her room.
On a drip, Elsa was bedridden for three days. After she recovered, she refused to stay in this horrible place any longer and clamored to leave.
The night before her departure, Lora insisted on sleeping with her grandma. Like old times when she was little, she grabbed the old woman's hand and begged her repeatedly.
"Grandma, go to North City with me. If you are not by my side, I will miss you. If you don't want to stay at Wood's house, I can arrange a residence for you."
