Episode 2

I am home after a long day of work. I sit in the living room to have a hibiscus tea when I hear the mansion's door open and someone enters. I turn my head and see my sister collapsing in tears with a suitcase. I approach to console her, but she yells at me to stay away and not touch her. I maintain a safe distance until she calms down and she starts to tell me.

Anna: I'm pregnant, Anny. I'm going to have a child with Franco Manccino, and the worst part is that he's dead because of me.

Anny: Calm down, Anna. What do you mean he's dead and it's your fault? Come, sit down, have some tea, and let's talk.

Anny was a smart woman, and Mrs. Mónica suggested that she should consider going away and buying a farm where her sister couldn't find her when she ran out of money. Anny could start over there. Mrs. Mónica offered her help, saying that she would go with her even if Anny couldn't pay her. Anny had done a lot for her and her family. They embraced, but Mrs. Mónica asked if Anny had any enemies. Anny smiled and said she didn't, except maybe her sister, who had had so many boyfriends. She didn't want any misunderstandings since, despite that, Anny was still a virgin. They both burst into laughter.

Anny dedicated herself to the company so much that she forgot to have friends and boyfriends. At her age, she still maintained her purity, which was both incredible and true. Sometimes, we focus on growing economically and preparing ourselves to create what we now call our empire. However, Anny missed out on those years and now she had to sell all those efforts and leave them in someone else's hands. But that didn't matter to her; they already had a plan. Now, her priority was someone's life who had already won her heart, even though they were not present. In her mind, she kept repeating, "I don't have a life. You are my life..."

Meanwhile, in Italy.

Franco's and Nicoletta's bodies were buried side by side. Both families had lost their children. Santino and his parents went home, and Santino's mother was given a sedative.

I arrived home and helped my parents to bed; they were exhausted and unwell. I sat on the couch and poured two glasses of whisky, one for him and one for me. I placed his glass in front of him, saying, "Cheers, brother. I promise to find your son or daughter. They will lack nothing; it's the only thing you've left us. My parents will be happy to know that. But for now, I will dedicate myself to finding her. I don't know much about Anna. I know she is from the United States, but I don't know many details about her. Not even her last name. If she has siblings or who her parents are. I know I will find her; with money, anything is possible. However, I will wait a few months because your departure has deeply affected my parents."

I finished my whisky, went to my room, prepared the bathtub with warm water, and immersed myself in it to think. I don't know in what conditions Anny and my brother were left, but if she refuses to give me my nephew or niece, I will be obliged to marry her and bring her here to Italy with my parents. That will make them happy. All I can say is that I am willing to give my life for my brother's child. That's all he left us. I know that she will have her price because she is a vain woman.
