“You don’t need to give me your answer now” he immediately said, “I can give you time”
“Oh” I dropped my head, looking to the ground. I can hold it no more, my heart is beating too fast. I take a glimpse of Ross, he just looked back without showing any expression.
At the same time, people start to line up. We stood up quickly and follow the queue. On the way down, we didn’t speak a word. I look at Ross behind me, then Freya and Jimmy in front of me, still talking happily.

We’re leaving Kendrick’s mansion.
Ross hasn’t speak anything since that morning, he looks like having plenties of thoughts inside his head. At some time he frowned, I wonder what is inside his mind. He switched the gears as he clears his throat, that’s when I know he is going to say something.
“Then.. what is probably your answer?” he asked slowly. I don’t need to ask him how could he knew about it since Kendrick was so obvious earlier.

“I mean, I was just curious” he said with a shrug.
I didn’t say anything, I was still shock. I mean, I have never had a boyfriend before means Kendrick will be the first.
“You.. don’t need to answer me. I mean it’s okay for you to think, since.. it was your first time right?”
“Yes” throwing my head to the window. Should I ask him about it?
“Ross?”
“What do you think about relationship?”
Ross took a short glimpse of me before saying “I… have never been in a relationship before” then he clears his throat to such awkward confession.
“Oh?” I can’t believe he’s really gay.
I snorted a laugh, it still sounds ridiculous.
“What are you laughing at?” he doesn’t seem offended at all, but confused.
“So...” I’ve been questioning about this for so long, “Is.. it because you are .....g-gay?” struggling to finish the g word. Ross eyes popped up wide, he looked at me with his deadliest glare.
I collapsed onto the seat, dropping my shoulders and say, “Oh.. I’m wrong, sorry” stop laughing, or smiling, or.. I’ll be killed slowly by that glare. Dude, he’s sometimes so scary.
“Aish, how could you think about that?” he speaks with exasperation grunt. “Nevermind” he said with a sigh.
Then after a while, he clears his throat again, “Do -do you want to know why?” taking a short glance of me.
I’ve been curious about his personal life so long, if he does open up himself then I’ll be grateful.
“Yes! Of course!” I nodded in excitement.
He scoffed, “I have a crush”, then he gave me a glare “to a GIRL” pressing his voice while saying the gender.
“She is an introverted girl” he said, “And she is just an ordinary school girl”
“Oh? Is she from your Korean school?”
“No, we are at the same class since middle school”
“Our classmates?”
“Do you need to know that detail, huh? Jinjja (really)”
“Oh, okay I’ll stop asking”
“I first thought you are calm and quiet but you are actually so talkative”
I chuckled, but tends to get more curious, so I try to make him talk about it more “Then?”
“We are not going to date” he added, “Because we are destined... to not.. going to date”
He exhales a harsh breath.
“Why?” is the first word came from my mouth.
“Because we are destined to be, I told you right?” he clicked his tongue “Jinjja (really)”
Ross continues “She’s the only reason why I stay single”
I quirked an eyebrow, still waiting for his continuous response, but he doesn’t say anything about it. His poise expressed dignity.
Urghh.. Ross, why don’t you just talk to me about it? I’m rooting for your love story too... Hmm.. Does that mean he hasn’t move on?
“Arrived” Ross lurched his car at the car port. I saw mom waving her hand to us in front of the house.
“You guys have fun?”
“Yes mom” I answered. Ross gives mom a hug.
Inside the house.
“We are going to have dinner tonight at Pastasciutta Restaurant” said mom.
We nod our heads, then Ross asks “What time, mom?”
She rolled her eyes up, means she’s thinking, “At 7”
Mom then said again “So you don’t need to prepare anything for dinner later, okay Ross?”
Ross nods understand.
PING
I saw Freya’s text popped up from the screen.
Freya: Are you okay, sist? You look upset.
Right, I and Kendrick were too obvious earlier. It’s too awkward to talk, so I keep quiet.
Me: I’m okay..
Freya: I know what happened there, just tell me what you think.
Me: Yes…
Freya: You like him, why don’t you just say yes?
Yes, I do like Kendrick a lot. I’ve never been in relationship before and I am also not ready to tell my mom about this.
Me: I know, Freya. But I’ve never been in relationship before...
Freya: Just take it easy.
Me: What do you mean?
Freya: If you like him, then accept him.
Me: I know, I just need more time to think.
Freya: Then, take your time. If you need someone to talk to, then I am ready to listen. You know that?
Me: I know. Thanks Freya. Have you got home safe? (smirking emoji)
Freya: I had a good day with you guys plus inside a car with Jimmy, hehe. Gotta get going. I need to teach my brother math, BYE!
Freya has a brother? I don’t know she has a brother, it must be her little brother.
“LUNCH IS READY!” I heard a woman’s voice echoing from the hall. It is my mom while yelling for lunch or dinner.
Lunch served on the table. Mom and Mr.Park seated on the dining table as Ross just appeared from the hallway with his casual sweatshirt and training pants.
Mushroom soup, bitter greens with tomatoes the size of peas, rare roast beef slices as thin as paper, noodles in a green sauce, cheese that served with sweet blue grapes. I feel like eating on a King’s dining table.
“Mom? Is there any event today?”
Plus we are going out for a fancy dinner tonight.
Mom nods her head and smiles widely, she tilted her head looking at Mr.Park.
“It’s his birthday” Ross cut in, to stop them from smiling to each other for too long.
“Oh?”
I rose from the chair and hug Mr.Park.
“Happy birthday, dad!”
“Thanks, pretty” he said with gentle taps on my back.
I think I should buy him a present. I look at Ross and he did the same, I know he reads my mind very well. But, Ross doesn’t seem to be very happy, from his expression he seems kinda upset. Usually he smiles a lot to me.
Then, at last after our lunch.
Mom brought the fresh, warm bread to her nose, inhaling deeply. It smelled rich, promising a delightful taste. Picking up a knife, she applied copious amounts of thick, creamy yellow butter. She spooned out a dollop of sweet, tangy blackberry jelly, then slathered the sweet mixture onto the spongy white bread. The pleasant smoothness of the butter blended perfectly with the bitter-sweet taste of black berries.
Ross took out 4 plates of blueberry waffle, served them on the dining table. He leaned forward and whispered to my ear, “Let’s go to mall after lunch”
