Episode 5

Livius continues with his training and that takes away time for him to go to the palace, but this time the Duke has asked him to accompany him because the prince wishes to see him. Livius, reluctantly, must go; he doesn't know how his father would react if he refused to go knowing that the prince is the one who sent for him.

Upon arriving, they are shown into a room. Upon entering, the Duke bows before the emperor who was there. Livius imitates his father. The emperor motions for them to sit down.

"Young Stefan, I heard you had been ill. I hope you are feeling better."

"I am well, Your Majesty. Thank you for your concern."

"Duke, I am sorry that my son is bothering you in this way, but it seems he is quite fond of young Stefan."

"Do not worry, Your Majesty. Livius is better; it's just that he has been very busy with his training."

"Training? For what?"

"He is learning the art of the sword."

"Perfect. It is good that he learns. I am sure he will be a great alpha."

Livius tightens his lips upon hearing that word. He momentarily forgets that in this place, a man's greatest pride is to be an alpha.

"He is my heir, so he is destined to be a dominant alpha."

《I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I am an omega》

Livius had this brief thought, although he would have liked to say it out loud. While the two men talk about how Livius will be the heir of the Stefans and will proudly serve the next emperor, the door opens a little and it is Maximilian who motions for him to come with him. The emperor, seeing this, nods to Livius to go. He would have preferred to stay, but he has no choice, he cannot act rudely before the emperor.

"Hi, Livi. I thought I wouldn't see you anymore. I don't like that you are so distant."

"I'm sorry, but I have to study and train twice as hard to make myself strong."

"But you will be without the need for much. I heard it just now, they say that you will be a dominant alpha, like me."

Livius stops upon hearing him.

"I don't care about alpha, beta or omega; anyone can be strong if they set their mind to it. Belittling others just because of their gender is foolish."

"Mom told me that omegas are the lowest in society."

"Your mother doesn't know anything."

Livius walks a little faster. What an empress, to despise her subjects.

"Wait, Livi, why are you getting mad?"

Livius stops abruptly, and the prince collides with him, causing them both to fall.

"Livi... I'm sorry, I didn't want..."

"Be more careful..."

Livius complains because he has a scratch on his hand. Now it will hurt when he practices swordsmanship. Maximilian grabs his hand.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry, Livi. Come on, I'll take you to the doctor."

"It's okay, it's just a scratch. I just have to wash it."

Livius looks all around and sees a fountain. There, he places his hand under the running water and washes it, but the prince appears worried.

"Mom says that even if it's a small wound, it needs to be treated."

"I'll do it at home."

The two boys continue walking to the stable, which is where Maximilian takes Livius to show him the little colt his father has given him. It was a white one.

"Dad says it will be big by the time I'm old enough to learn."

"I suppose. It's pretty. I wish I could have one..."

"You can ask your dad to give you one, so we can learn together."

Livius was petting the little colt, but he stops. Unfortunately for him, there is no such opportunity. He is barely trying to find a solution to the isolation he will have in his house. For now, although everyone is good to him, in a year, everyone will forget the affection they say they have for him.

"Yes, I will."

It's best not to say anything because otherwise, he would surely insist on telling him why it will be impossible to have a horse of his own. Later, the two boys say goodbye. Livius gets into the carriage with his father, while Maximilian waves goodbye with one hand while the other is held by the emperor.

"Dad...Livi...I think Livi doesn't like me anymore."

"That's not true. He's just changed a little, but there's no way he doesn't like you. You are a good friend."

"Really? Dad, when I grow up, can I marry Livi?"

"His sister is pretty, so he will be like your brother."

"No, I don't like his sister."

"If he is an alpha, maybe you can, but if he turns out to be an omega or a beta, forget about seeing him again."

The empress had arrived where father and son were chatting.

"Empress, do not say such things to the child."

"Your Majesty, I am only speaking the truth. An alpha must be with an alpha. That boy is very thin and sickly; it makes me think he is a beta, or worse, an omega."

"You cannot say that, and do not say anything else. The boy's father is my friend; I do not want you to offend them."

"Maximilian, if that boy is an omega, you will never see him again."

"But Mother...Livi is my friend."

"Enough, Empress. Son, go play."

"But Dad, I don't want to stop seeing Livi."

"I know. Go play, don't worry."

The little boy walks away somewhat dejected, while the emperor scolds his wife for the cruel words she said to his son.
