9 pm, 30th August 2022. Texas airport

It was a 14 hour journey but because of the time difference between China and the U.S, Luo Xiyuan still managed to land in Texas at 9 pm.

Once he was out of the airport and took his cellphone out, his phone was ringing, but the caller's name made him frown.

It was - Zhao Ning.

Normally during her birthdays her schedule is always packed with various activities. There is no way she would call for no important reason and so he anxiously picked up the call.

"You picked the call so quickly?", Zhao Ning's voice sounded calmly.

Listening to her normal voice soothed his anxiousness.. anyways if she was free, they can actually meet today.. Before he could ask further, she spoke up.

"Luo Xiyuan.. didn't you ask me, at 28, whether I'll dare to ride the bus alone?"

He could feel his heart beat faster.

"Well I'm doing it now", she laughed.

He didn't understand what was going on, but the anxiety crept up again.

"Where are you now?", he tried to ask calmly.

"In a bus"

"Who is with you"

"No one", she chuckled.

"Where is Wang Haoyu?", Luo Xiyuan questioned.

"I don't know. He.. left", she said calmly.

It was only getting confusing. Wasn't she just fine last night? What could've happened in this time, he had no idea. But he had to ensure her safety now.

"Okay so where is your bus headed?", Luo Xiyuan asked.

"I.. don't know? I just walked across the bus stop and saw a bus, and then got on it. Don't worry I'll just get off whenever I feel like. I have enough money", she replied.

"Zhao Ning, are you drunk?", Luo Xiyuan asked.

He couldn't think of any other possibility for the prim and proper Mrs. Perfect Zhao Ning to be in her current condition.

"Do I sound like I'm drunk?", She asked.

No, she sounded very sober and that was the scariest part of all.

"You don't sound like you're drunk but whatever you're talking about makes me feel like you are drunk.", He said.

At that time, he heard a unique noise coming over the other side of the phone, it was two other passengers talking to themselves

"Can we get to Hotel Indigo through this bus?"

"Yes, this is the only bus in route"

He immediately asked his assistant to check and track the details.

"What happened", he asked with concern.

"I.. don't know", she replied.

He took a deep breath. Seems like things weren't as simple as he thought it to be.

"Hey Zhao Ning, did Wang Haoyu bully you?", He asked seriously.

Hearing his tone and the question, Zhao Ning immediately broke into laughter. He hasn't changed at all in all these years. Whenever she feels sad and tells him that she isn't feeling too well the first thing he asks is "Does someone bully you?"

"Why are you laughing? You know you can count on me. I can make his life tough and make him apologise to you if he mistreats you.", He said seriously.

"You do know you're talking about my husband right?", Zhao Ning asked, amused. What gave him so many ideas? At least according to the outside world, her relationship with Wang Haoyu has never been bad.

"So what if he's your husband? If he mistreats you, he will get what he deserves!", He said.

What if he's your husband..

Right.. he was just a part of her life.. Why was she so foolish as to try and please him in every way.. she lost her originality while trying to be the best version of herself that would suit him and in the process she not only lost herself, she also lost him. Now all he wants from her is to follow his arrangements, which she obviously isn't happy about.

So what if he was her husband? It was still her life. She wasn't weak.

She might be a coward but she ain't stupid.

She thought being the best partner to him will give her the happy married life she wished for and she tried only to fail, only to be ridiculed and now finally to be humiliated.

She asked, her voice heavy, "You are so far away in Beijing, how will you teach him a lesson in Texas?"

"If that's the only problem", his voice kept getting lower, "I can solve that"

"How?", She asked, her mind blank.

"Turn around"

The moment she turned around, she was greeted with that ever familiar face that grew a bit unfamiliar over the years.

The one before her was her competitor and friend from Junior high to Senior high and then to the University, the only one who can make her do stuff that she would never dare to - the one who is so full of surprises - Luo Xiyuan.

"Xiyuan?", She called out, with doubt.

She really thought her eyes were playing tricks on her.

"So, time to teach Wang Haoyu a lesson?", He asked with a smile.

She immediately broke into tears.
