Tamayo's Wedding

A/N: IDK what the Sengoku era looks like and Google is not helping, I mean... it's helping but I would like to go into the details. Because I always like to make the reader feel like they are actually living in that era.

You wake up suddenly, and the birds are chirping outside. As usual, you are too lazy to wake up early. Besides, it's dark outside and it's cozy under the blanket you think to yourself.

You tossed and turned for some time, unable to sleep. There were noises out that made it impossible to sleep, so you get out shivering and quickly put on your long haori, taking a look at your surroundings as you always did, it was a simple, spacious room with luxurious, old-styled furnishings and wall hangings.

You fold your Futon and keep it away. You open the shoji and look outside, yawning. But something else was about it that made it unique today.

Tents and pillars were established and the garden was filled with more and more flowers. Everything was decorated.

It was so beautiful. You walked into the lawn and sat down near a pond with a sakura tree over it. It was s-

You heard footsteps.

A moment later an elderly woman came towards you with her hands full of colorful clothes, you stood up

"Mizuki! You woke up just in time!! Go give this to your sister for me, will you?" she asked.

Without even waiting for your response, she burdened you with the traditional uchikake and some pieces of jewelry, and an enormous headset.

Tamayo was getting married.

"Fine. W-Where is she?" you tried to sound as much as casual.

"You don't know? She's obviously in her room, are you stupid or what?" the lady scolded.

"Oh, I thought that she would be in getting ready in the garden," you said and immediately you cursed yourself for doing so.

This lady was already strict with you, and you just made her angrier.

A garden, seriously??

"No- she changed her plans, she thought that her future husband will see her there," she said curtly, you couldn't believe that that lame guess of yours worked.

"Mizuki, your elder sister is getting married and, It's time for you to get married too, your dad and I already chose a groom for you,"

"WHAT?!?!?!" you yelled. You just came here. You can't get married already!

"But mom!!!" you started to complain.

"You are going to meet the groom day after tomorrow!! Mizuki,

You know that we always wanted to get you and your sister married since you both were 13 years old, You can't break a tradition that has been followed for ages!! You are being nothing but a burden on both of us!! And don't start about that Yorrichi as an excuse, I called the guards back, they'll be no longer searching for him!!"

You thought of marriage with a horrified look on your face.

"He comes from a noble family and that guy is really capable and one of the most attractive men in the whole of our kingdom" her tone and behavior towards you took a 180-degree turn.

"What is his name?"

You tried to give up, there was no way a teenager can face this family...a family of royal doctors.

"I forgot...now go help your sister with these clothes," she said as she applied black paint to her teeth. you went off to Tamayo's room.

You remembered that nobles blackened their teeth in ancient times.

You weren't sure where you were going because you were busy recovering from what your mother gave you, then automatically you ended up in front of a room with colorful flowered shoji designs.

You slid open the door and saw Tamayo sitting in the middle surrounded by your four friends.

She looks pretty....except for the blackened teeth, of course, you thought, staring at a beautiful young girl of 16, she looked just like you, except for the eyes, her eyes were purple and big while yours were red and almond-shaped...

She turned around and noticed you "Mizuki! You bought my uchikake!! Thank you so much" she exclaimed in an angelic voice.

"Welcome, and change quickly, I will put the makeup on for you," you said handing uchikake to Kura, and giving some jewelry to Aika, Chiyo, and Naoki... while they were at it, Tamayo was bored and asked you

"Did mom and dad tell you that your marriage is fixed with a nobleman?"

"Hmmm," you didn't feel like saying anything.

"Don't be too sad, he is one of the best guys in our whole kingdom." She said cheerfully," and the most handsome ones too," she winked.

"Why do you all keep saying that???" you asked, annoyed.

"How old is he?" you asked

"Who?"

"T- That nobleman" you didn't feel right about this marriage.

"He's probably in his mid-twenties" she responded, "why?"

You felt uneasy. He was at least 10 years older than you, you heard that age doesn't matter but it's the medieval Japan we're talking about.

After Tamayo gets ready, you do her makeup but she is too excited that she ruined her make-up two times already.

Then you do the makeup for other girls and women from the bridal party, you were known for your beauty, doing makeup.

was so tiring till the time it was your turn to be dressed up, you just wanted to go in your everyday clothes. So getting ready took an hour and when you reached they just started doing the rituals,

The wedding continued till the afternoon, Tamayo looked pretty as a picture and her husband looked like her knight in shining armor.

You were so bored because your mom just came up to you only to introduce boys but was pretty glad when Naoki, took you by the hand after you signaled her to save you.

After the wedding, you bid your elder sister goodbye, she was going sentimental and you hated it because 1. You hated to see her cry. 2. You didn't care much about emotions, that's why your mum called you an empty shell.

After Tamayo's departure, you felt sad...but hey, she said she'll be visiting soon.

After finishing your meal, you took a walk outside to relieve you of the sadness. You wandered off to a beautiful crystal clear lake on the outskirts of the kingdom; the full moon was shining bright and was reflected on the water which was moving a little because of the light breeze. The leaves of the Sakura tree above you were swaying gently with the breeze.

Feeling relaxed, you sit down beneath the tree and rest your head against its trunk, and you were feeling sleepy

The moon was so beautiful tonight. But you were feeling sleepy-

You were playing with Yorrichi and Michikatsu, well talking more like,

"Brother, what do you want to be when you grow up," yorrichi asked.

"When I grow up, I will be the greatest samurai in the world!!" Michikatsu exclaimed, flexing his muscles.

"Then I will be the second greatest samurai in the world, I will always follow your lead." he smiled; Michikatsu looked a little taken aback at his brother's remark. He snapped back to reality after yorrichi asked you what you wanted to be

"Me? I don't know...maybe a doctor?" you were uncertain about his one

"A doctor!? That's good!! We also need a doctor to cure innocent people if any get hurt," both the twins exclaimed at the same time.

"Really?" you asked. blushing. "I always thought I was useless"

"You come from a good family of doctors," yorrichi said. which made you go redder and you turned your head and covered it with your kimono's long sleeves like you were straightening your hair

Your father was in charge of taking care of your yorrichi mother, but he couldn't find a cure for her illness. And she died afterward,

You couldn't face yorrichi and Michikatsu till a week; they kept knocking at your shoji.

But everything was changed after their mother died due to the disease,

You met Michikatsu but still couldn't face Yorrichi because you liked him a lot. You just couldn't think of his face which mostly had an angelic smile, and was covered in tears. All because of your fault. You accidentally knocked down a dose of medicine meant to be for her, your father thought it was a cat.

After you heard from Michikatsu about their mother's tragic disease and why yorrichi stuck to her all the time made tears come to your eyes again,

"Where is he?" you asked tearily, hoping to tell him the truth and apologize.

"He ran away" came the astonishing reply.

"Ran away?" you could only echo.

You felt something hot trickle down your eyes. You just realized that you were crying. Michikatsu just put a comforting arm around you, still, you cried on and on, who knew if you'll ever see him again?

You tried moving a little bit.

But you couldn't.

It felt like you were trapped in an uncomfortable position. In a panic, you opened your eyes

The first thing you realized was that you were moving, not on your own but someone was carrying you.

1) half the time Mizuki didn't know what she was doing, her mind was just giving her instructions on how to move and talk. She was too numb from the excitement and nervousness of the wedding.

2) Mizuki has red eyes because, in her childhood, she ate lots of daifuku mochi, raw meat, apples (her favorite fruit), and spicy food.

3) It is a rumor that Tamayo is 4'11, she is 5'4.

4) Mizuki and Tamayo are some of the most beautiful girls in the kingdom, Mizuki is a rebel so many don't like her attitude.

5) Mizuki has a scary death stare.

6) The lake and the sakura tree spot were Mizuki's favorite, it's deep inside a forest just behind her house.

7) Yorrichi also liked Mizuki. He was hesitating to leave just because of Mizuki

8) Mizuki won't allow anyone to blacken her teeth. The teeth are blackened because the white changes it's color to yellow, but black won't, this relates to noble, who will only serve one master, and that is the king. Peasants didn't color their teeth black, as they changed masters due to certain reasons.
