Ch.4

"Hey Yanxiao, are you here?" You said looking around. Shortly after, Yanxiao then appeared. "Ah, [y/n]! What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to make almond tofu, is that okay with you?" You said while scratching the back of your head. Yanxiao seemed confused but then nodded as a response. "Can you wait for a little bit? I have some dishes that I need to finish first.."

"It's fine, I'll make the almond tofu myself. I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you"

"You know how to make almond tofu?" he asked in which you nodded. Yanxiao kept quiet for some time before assuring you that you weren't disturbing him. You clearly saw that wasn't the case but decided to keep silent.

"Do you need help with making it?"

"No, instead can you bring me the ingredients? thank you for the offer though." You said hoping you didn't sound bossy. Yanxiao then nodded and gave you the ingredients.

Some time later, you finished making the dish. You then went to the upper rooftop in hopes of making up with the man.

"Hello? Are you there??" You said while looking around, unfortunately for you it seems like the man was no longer on the rooftop. "guess I'll leave it here.." you said to yourself while looking for a place to put it down.

You saw a stool and decided to place the food in there, you then went downstairs to help on preparing the food.

Not long after, a certain man appeared. "She finally left.." the man said before approaching the food that was placed on the stool. "Almond tofu? It looks different than usual.." with that, the man took a bite out of it, surprised by how amazing it taste.

"It also taste different than the ones I ate the other times.."

"Woah dude! Be careful, the food almost spilled, that'll be such a waste if that happens." You said shaking your head. You glanced at the man who has on the floor with a surprised look on his face.

"What?" You asked, hoping to get a reaction from him.

"What.. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" The man then screamed, you were taken aback by his sudden voice. You couldn't help but laugh "pfft.. hey don't take it seriously, although I never knew you'd fall for it."

"Fall for it?" You nodded in response. "Even though I couldn't sense you anywhere, my guts was telling me you were here. Hence I planned on luring you out by placing the food and seeing myself out." You smiled before continuing,

"I also didn't know that a yaksha get startled that easily. You've been battling for years, so I thought you'd be unfazed by it." you said while placing the food down and extending your hand to help him stand. The man's mind was a mess, but one thing was certainly bugging him.

"did I really just lowered my guard to this mere mortal? that's impractical. No way!"

He seemed to be lost in his thoughts so you tried calling out to him, but was met with his cold glare. "How do you know I'm a yaksha?" he said while standing up, ignoring your hand that you offered for him to use.

He then stood up crossing his arms over his chest, waiting for you answer. Seeing him glare at you, you couldn't help but sigh.

"That night." The man could only raise his eyebrow, seemingly confused by your answer. "is this guy dumb? woah he must be. So he's a beauty with no brain."

You sigh before continuing, "That night you suddenly disappeared. No humans would be able to do that, I thought it was a dream but seeing the preys that I caught, it's clearly not."

"That's not enough reason for you to know that I'm a yaksha."

"Even you disappearing?"

"Many scholar and vision holders know how to teleport. But majority of them think it's just a floating gimmick from the past."

"I said the word 'disappearing' not 'teleporting'.

The rooftop was soon filled with silence. But it got broken by you. "And besides, that diamond shaped thing on your forehead, care to explain that?" You said pointing at his temple.

"It's.. just a birthmark.." The man said looking away from you.

"Ahhh.. yeahhh.. I see.." You said clearly not convinced by his answer.

You sigh, placing your hand on your hips. "Well then, what about that tattoo on your arm? That's a vermilion bird isn't? One of the things the vermilion represents is the direction of the south. Coincidentally, liyue harbor is located at the south."

"Someone who appear and disappear at will, has a vermilion bird tattoo, protects the liyue citizens, and has a diamond shaped 'birthmark' on his forehead, a birthmark that represents a yaksha.."

You then approached him, leaning your face infront of his, your hands that was once on your hips were now on your back, you then tilted your head and said, "are you sure you're not a yaksha?"

Soon after you saw the man's eyebrow meeting together, you laughed, making him look at you and ask, "what?" he said frown never leaving his face.

"Oh nothing, you just look cute when you frown" you said wiping the nonexistent tears in your eyes. "Anyway, I'm sorry for startling you like that, here have this almond tofu." You said lifting up the food and bringing it up to him.

The man refused, but one can clearly see the desperation to eat it, you laughed, "come on, just eat it. I made it for you."

What you said seemed to catch his attention. "You.. made it?" the man said wide eyed. Seeing his expression made you satisfied.

"Yes, I made it. So finish it up. It's bad manners to not finish what you took a bite from you know, especially when it's made for you."

You heard the man scoff, "So you're saying it's bad manners to refuse what you don't want to eat?" he said raising his eyebrows.

"He has a point, but in this situation, that's not the case."

"Well.. you're right." You heard him scoff once again, making you look at him. "But you want to eat it, don't you? So why would you refuse?" his smirk are now replaced with a frown.

You then sigh. "Come on, please?" You said with pleading eyes. There was a moment of silence, the two of you staring at each other.

You heard the man groan. "Give it to me, I'll eat it." The man said while looking away at you, extending his hand while the other one is behind his neck.

His actions surprised you, making you stare. The man noticed this and looked at you. "Are you going to give it or not?" you snapped out of your thoughts and gave the food to him.

"r-right.. here, enjoy it. I'll go downstairs as to not disturb you." You said handing it over to him. You then walked your way to the stairs, but was stopped by the voice of the man.

"..Xiao"

You looked back, confused by what he said. The man saw your expression and couldn't help but sigh. "Xiao." "Xiao is.. my name." He said looking at you.

Seeing that you kept silent, he continued. "And this.. almond tofu.." he looked away at you once again, pursing his lips before continuing. "it.."

You couldn't help but just stare. Stare at him. Stare at the flustered mess infront of you. Seeing that you weren't saying anything and just kept on staring, his eyebrows met, pursing his lips harder, and flushed even more.

"it.. IT TASTE SO BAD!" Xiao said while looking at you. You were about to say something, but the man disappeared before you could do so.

As if on cue, you heard Goldet calling out for you. Hence you decided to go back and see Goldet.

...I know making almond tofu isn't that quick so go with the flow for now fjuwidjs...

...The chapter might also be shorter than usual. I write 2k words per chapter, but I only managed to write 1.3k so I'm sorry about that🙇‍♀️...
