Episode 9

"Is your work complete? If so, leave this room promptly," declared Rayden, his speech strained but his intent clear. He wanted this woman out of his space immediately.

Throughout the exchange, Rayden hardly glanced at the woman, deliberately averting his gaze. He preferred not to subject his eyes to the distress of beholding an unattractive woman.

"Pardon me, Sir, could you open your mouth?" retorted Disha, disregarding his wish for her to depart; instead, she commanded Rayden to open wide.

The order irked Rayden, though he understood this woman was merely fulfilling her duties.

Compelled by necessity, Rayden turned to face her and indeed opened his mouth. Disha proceeded to inspect its interior promptly.

She observed a tongue still coated in white.

At such proximity, Rayden could scrutinize this woman more closely, her face reminding him of someone from his past.

His heart skipped – thumped conspicuously, its rhythm discernable by the perceptive Disha. Yet, she remained focused on her examination.

"I apologize, Sir, I will need to touch your face," Disha announced once more.

Meanwhile, Rayden was rendered speechless, lost in memories of a young girl named Aresha who had passed away.

The longer he examined this woman, the more she evoked memories of the girl. His gaze lowered from her face to her identification card, where he read a name that disappointed him.

Disha.

*She is not Aresha*\, Rayden reflected silently.

He remained still as Disha widened one of their eyes for examination, shining a small flashlight.

With the examination concluded, Disha prepared to take her leave.

"The examination is complete, Sir, I'll take my leave now," Disha declared respectfully, bowing her head slightly.

"Fetch food and drink for my woman, and be sure to deliver it here yourself," Rayden commanded, an order that perplexed both Samuel and Tamara.

To them, the directive seemed like just an excuse to have the plain nurse return.

Samuel and Tamara knew Rayden well, familiar with his every move and its meaning.

"Certainly, Sir," Disha complied, accustomed to treatment that regarded her less as a nurse or doctor and more as an office girl.

After Disha's exit, Tamara rose, approached Rayden, and perched on the edge of his bed.

"Are you interested in that woman? Why request her return?" Tamara inquired, searching for answers. Rayden had never been one to commit, indulging in relationships with women who pleased him until they made demands, at which point he'd promptly end the affair.

Thus Tamara remained his friend, harboring deep desires to claim him for herself.

Despite Rayden's dalliances with other women, Tamara stayed, conscious of his tendency to pursue only the beautiful, not plain caregivers like Disha.

"There's no particular intent—just felt like teasing her a bit," Rayden replied, a mischievous grin playing on his lips—a grin that signaled his intent to toy with women.

Tamara exhaled, relieved.

Yet Samuel, observing his master, harbored suspicions.

*Surely there's something more*\, Samuel mused internally.

Before long, Disha returned with a tray bearing food and drink for Tamara.

She arranged everything on the table, and as Disha moved, Rayden watched her intently, silent in his scrutiny.

Each time he beheld her in this manner, it was as if he saw his beloved within the figure of this unassuming woman.
