Episode 8

"Ahem!" Samuel cleared his throat, to signal the two people on the bed to cease their endeavors. Sure enough, a single cough from Samuel caused Tamara to cease embracing Rayden and stand upright once again.

The beautiful woman even tucked her hair behind her ear to tidy it up again. Then, she turned to look at Samuel, noticing he was now standing with a woman wearing a doctor's coat.

Tamara's eyes widened as she observed the doctor's appearance. How could there be a woman so out-of-date in this era? Still wearing round glasses and with her hair neatly braided.

*Good heavens\, has nobody told her that fashion is so antiquated?* Tamara thought. But she chose not to care and remained indifferent.

Rayden felt just as uncomfortable as Tamara upon seeing the woman's appearance. How could someone like her be a doctor in such a renowned hospital?

"My apologies, sir. Nurse Disha will examine you now," said Samuel. Initially, he had his doubts about Disha's medical abilities. However, having observed her work for some time, his views had shifted.

He now entrusted Disha with the task, confident she could aid the gentleman's recovery. After all, Disha was just an assistant to Anna; Samuel had no reason to worry she would do anything excessive.

*Oh\, just a nurse*\, thought Tamara.

"Hmm," Rayden grunted shortly, speaking being a struggle for him, which was why he kept his response brief. He wished this homely woman would finish her job and leave the room as quickly as possible.

"Excuse me, Miss," Disha said, bowing her head respectfully toward Tamara.

The beautiful woman then moved aside, preferring to sit on the available sofa while continuing to observe the plain-looking nurse at work. Tamara even noticed the nameplate worn by the nurse, bearing just the name Disha.

This signified the woman's ordinary background, lacking a prominent family surname.

"Excuse me, sir. I must touch your hand," Disha announced beforehand.

"Hmm, Ouch! Why does it hurt so much?" complained Rayden, his outburst prompting Tamara to stand up and Samuel to approach Disha.

"What are you doing?" asked Samuel, his eyes sharp with intimidation.

Yet Disha hadn't done anything out of the ordinary, merely touching a point on Rayden's finger. She was confident the pain reached his dislocated joint, but not enough to elicit such yelling from him.

Any explanation would seem like nonsense, so Disha simply chose to apologize.

"I'm sorry, sir. I will be more careful," Disha replied, bowing her head deeper this time.

As the sharp gazes shifted away from her, she returned to her task of examining Rayden's condition.

Disha had received information from Darco about who Rayden Carter was. The eldest of the Carter family and currently serving as CEO of Carter Kingdom.

Evidently, the tradition in the Carter family was for CEOs to wear those distinctive gold cufflinks. They served as a symbol of the lineage's position in the family's business.

If her family's sworn enemy was part of the Carters, then it was likely that Rayden's grandfather was the man in question. However, according to the information Disha had, Rayden's grandfather had passed away and was not recorded as having any connection with her family.

Despite the cluttered thoughts occupying her mind, Disha continued to perform her duties diligently.

Her attention, however, was soon drawn to two bouquets of flowers on the bedside table.

The only way to learn more about the cufflinks was to get closer to this man.

To capitalize on Rayden's playboy tendencies.

*I must become the third flower there\,* thought Disha.
