The General Is To Evil
01
Tang Li hugged his knees as he sat on the grassy floor of his cell, feeling particularly wronged.
He was innocent. When he first left, he was completely blameless and only wanted to make a name for himself in the Jianghu. Who could have thought he would meet a senior brother from his sect that he knew? They both chatted and stayed together for several days until his senior brother left for another mission.
Tang Li didn’t know whether it was an accident or something, but it was only after he left the city did he realise that the travel documents in his hands belonged to his senior brother.
The customs officer at the city gates glanced at his documents and looked at him in astonishment, “You are really daring.”
Tang Li stared at him innocently with wide eyes, “Ah?”
The custom officer shouted, “Guards! Take him away!”
Before Tang Li could react, he was captured by the guards and taken away, one guard on each of his side. Amidst the chaos, he caught a glimpse of an arrest warrant poster on the city walls. The person on the wanted posters was actually his senior brother!
Tang Li cried, “Wait a minute! I’m innocent! I accidentally took…”
Then, he was knocked out with a chop behind his neck.

Tang Li stayed inside the cell for an entire day. Apart from the people who delivered his meals and water, he saw no one else. Moreover, his jailer was like a mute person, no matter what he spoke, he showed no reaction.
Just as Tang Li was about to lose hope, he abruptly heard footsteps. He threw himself against the bars and looked out to see a young jailer walking over, surrounded by a group of guards.
Tang Li hurriedly shook the bars and shouted, “General! I’m innocent!”
That person wore a red robe and silver armour. His eyes were as cold as frost; and beneath those gloomy eyes, there was light. When the man swept a glance over him, Tang Li’s heart trembled, and he inexplicably shivered.
The general turned to look at Tang Li. “Hm?”
Tang Li froze before meekly replying, “I’m innocent. I accidentally took someone else’s travel documents and was arrested.”
The general remained expressionless. “Innocent?”
Tang Li nodded vigorously, “En, en!”
The general stared at him for sometime before revealing a smile that gave Tang Li goosebumps. “Are you saying our government is useless and subverting the truth? Abusing our position for personal gains, going against the law and arresting the wrong person?”
The steward beside him quickly lowered his head and began to write in his book.
Tang Li shook his head vigorously. “I didn’t say that. I only said you’ve arrested the wrong person.”
The general’s face remained cold. “You didn’t say it. But, you are clearly implying this .”
Tang Li felt wronged. “I really didn’t!”
The general narrowed his eyes. “Spreading lies and slandering the government. Your sentence will be doubled.”
Tang Li froze. “…Wtf?”
The general laughed coldly. “Wtf? Use of obscene language to insult an officer. Your sentence will be doubled again.”
The steward continued to write everything down with a grin.
Tang Li held onto the bars and shook it violently. He began to cry pitifully and explained, “How can you do this? I never insulted you. This is just my way of speaking. Don’t you also normally say it…?”
The general raised a hand and touched Tang Li’s fingers wrapped around the bars and said again, “For disrespecting an officer, your sentence has just been tripled.”
The steward continued to write while nodding his head.
Tang Li was left dumbfounded. After some time, he retracted his hands and silently retreated into a corner.
****, there’s something wrong with this man!

Although Tang Li no longer dared to speak, the general seemed to have no intention of letting him off. Standing outside the cell with his arms crossed, he touched his chin meaningfully.
The person standing beside him inched closer, sounding like a lackey, “Officer Li, your subordinate thinks this ruffian is extremely cunning. First, he said he was innocent, then he began to insult the government. After some time, he even started to touch you, Officer Li, inappropriately. He clearly shows no remorse. We must definitely stay alert.”
The general nodded. “You’re right.”
As for the dangerous ruffian, Tang Li, he was curled up in a corner, stomping the grass grievously.
Another soldier added, “I heard this ruffian is extremely elusive. He’s able to conceal himself and infiltrate any place. There’s no evil he has not committed. This subordinate is afraid he may attempt an escape.”
The general clapped his hands. “Guards!”
Tang Li jumped in fright, thinking he was about to be dragged out and executed.
The general’s expression was extremely stern. “Escort him to the Tian Ce manor. I’ll personally take charge of him.”
Tang Li had just released a breath when he saw the general’s hawk-like eyes and suddenly had a bad feeling. “Can I stay here?”
The general snapped, “Impudence!”
Tang Li: “Alright, alright. I was impudent.”
The general: “For disregarding the law, your sentence will be…”
Tang Li: “Stop! I’ll listen to you. No matter whether you want to skin me or kill me!”
The officer looked at him coldly and suddenly did a self-introduction, “My name is Li Xin Wu.”
Tang Li became confused. “Oh, I’m called Tang Li.”
The general laughed coldly, “I never asked. Guards, take him away.”
Tang Li stomped on the grass indignantly.
