Episode 9

Meanwhile, Roger arrives home slightly upset with that mysterious lady. Who was she? Why was she so intriguing? Why did so much pain reflect in her eyes? These were the questions that crossed Roger's mind as he sipped a glass of wine in his study.

"What are you thinking about, Roger?"

Roger was startled by the sudden entrance of the feminine silhouette.

"Don't you know how to knock?" Roger said, placing his wine glass on the table.

"Hmm, let me think... No!" she replied, settling into the chair opposite Roger.

"Tell me what you want. I'm not in the mood," Roger said.

"Hey, you just arrived and that's how you treat your sister? How rude of you," Clarisse said, pouting.

"I'm sorry, Clarisse. It's just that I had a long night and I'm really exhausted. Stop making that face."

"Have you been fooling around with another one of those slippery women you're always with? Didn't you enjoy the encounter? Hahaha."

"It's not about that, Clarisse. I wasn't with any girl. Stop imagining things."

"Then, who's putting my brother in a bad mood? I don't think it's work-related, you always have everything under control."

"I won't tell you. Stop being nosy and go to sleep."

"Hey, don't be like that. I just want to know why you're in a bad mood."

"Ugh, tell me exactly what you want to know," Roger replied.

"I want to know who you were thinking about and why you're in such a bad mood when you think about it."

Clarisse is Roger's younger sister. She takes care of every detail concerning her brother since they are orphans and only have each other. Clarisse can be a bit intrusive when it comes to Roger's personal life, but he ends up telling her everything because, beyond being siblings, they are also friends.

"Well, I..."

"Just say it already, Roger. Why beat around the bush?" Clarisse interrupted.

"I'm thinking about a girl! Are you satisfied now?"

Upon hearing this, Clarisse burst into laughter. To her, it was absurd or unusual for her brother to think about girls. He wasn't the type of man who spent late nights or short moments thinking about any girl; in fact, it was quite the opposite. If he wanted someone, he easily got them, as no woman could resist him.

"You see? That's why I didn't want to tell you anything," Roger frowned in annoyance at Clarisse's mockery.

"I'm sorry, little brother. It's just that what you just said is so funny to me. Were you joking? I can't believe a playboy like you would waste time thinking about skirts," Clarisse said, wiping away a tear from laughing.

"It's not a joke, and you know what? I'd rather go to sleep now. I won't have this conversation with you anymore."

"Okay, okay, don't get angry. I just didn't think it was serious. But why are you upset about thinking about her?"

"It's because... I helped her, but she didn't want to give me her name. It seems she was in a painful situation at that moment."

"And that's why you're like this? You're so dramatic, Roger. You only saw her once, and you don't even know if you'll see her again. I didn't think I had such a capricious brother, to be honest."

"Maybe you're right. I guess I'm being dramatic. Let's just go to sleep; I feel really tired."

"Okay, if you say so. I know you're saying it to avoid talking about it, but I understand. I won't bother you anymore. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Roger doesn't like admitting when someone truly catches his attention since it's not a common occurrence for him. He usually spends a night of pleasure with easy girls until he's satisfied. And if he likes a challenging girl, he makes her surrender. In other words, he's an irresistible man. His anger stems from Antonella showing no interest in him whatsoever, to the point of not even wanting to reveal her name. He doesn't like the feeling of being interested in someone if that person doesn't reciprocate.

THE NEXT DAY

Antonella wakes up to the sunlight streaming through her window. She realizes she never changed out of the wet dress she wore last night. She scratches her head and checks the time; it's still early to go to the company...

He gets up and removes the sheets to put on new ones, then goes to the bathroom and looks at himself in the mirror; his eyes were swollen and his face was full of marks from the beatings he received from his father...

He couldn't go to work with such a miserable appearance, he let out a deep sigh, touching his face where he was hit...

He looked truly terrible, it wasn't her; you could notice that one of her cheeks was slightly swollen from the punch her father gave her...

She didn't even have the strength to cry, she just felt deeply wounded inside without any desire to live, like a living dead...

She remembered everything that happened that dark night and felt her heart ache. It was something that marked her life forever; she never expected to go through such betrayal from the man she loved with an open heart...

It's sad to remember those happy moments you shared with someone you believed loved you. It hurts to know that those moments will never return.
