Welcome to the family!

I drink up the last of my coffee, and place my mug on the table. I grab my brief-case and my wife-Gem helps me with my tie and coat. " Sugar-Cube be prepared and well rested for tonight." I flirt with my wife. I see the red in her cheeks and kiss them. " I meant for...the gala.'' I said knowing well that my previous statement was ambiguous.

'' Darling stop doing that,'' she says with a pout. ''Oh, so you prefer us doing THAT instead?'' I tease her  her further already missing her blush. '' Hubby! Stop it,'' she yelled, amused. '' if you sort out Sarah for tonight I'll think about it.'' She's got me hard right now.'' You're not the only one who can do that. Sort yourself out before you go to work.'' She points to my very private region.

I'm already late for work, but I sort myself out anyway. I am the CEO of Jade Enterprises. I grabbed my lunch and kiss both my wife, and sister on the cheek before I left to my car.

As I drove to work, I remember that night again. The night I lost my mother- the very same night I became a brother. Mom passed away due to child birth. After she passed on I promised to look after my baby sister. It wasn't easy for Dad who was looking after Sarah and mourning for Mom. I suggested that Gem and I  would take care of her since we didn't have kids already. Gem is really compassionate and loving. I'm so lucky to have her as my wife, she instantly agreed.

I remember our wedding night when I promised her a big family with many children.

I bumped into a teenage boy. he had a school uniform on. I got out to see if he was okay. The kid just laid there in a state of shock. I knelt down. '' Kid are you okay?'' he was injured- his knee looked like it was dislocated. I carried him to the back seat. I think I'll just postpone and cancel my work today.

On the way to the hospital to the hospital, I learnt quite a few things from the kid. He's 15 turning 16 and he's not in a healthy foster care home. His parents died when he was seven; his name is Jake McMode. He enjoys new things, quite the risk taker with spirit for adventure.

At the hospital-the Doctor informed me that Jake would have to use crutches for the next 6-8 weeks. Only his leg was affected, nothing else. I felt guilty - can you blame me- I bumped a kid. I called Jason to  help my lawyer arrange some paper work to make Gem and I , Jake's legal guardian as well as to postpone everything I had to take of for tomorrow. I brought Jake home and placed his in one of the spare rooms. I made sure the crutches and the wheel chair were near the bed.

Then I looked all over the house even asking the maids where Gem was. I found her in the pool,  with Sarah's bottom in the water.

''Hey,'' I sighed as I sat down next to the pool. '' You're early, wanna join us?'' Gem asked, smiling at me. '' Gem, I need to talk to you about something...'' I took a deep breath and explained to Gem, she listened attentively and smiled when I finished. ''Darling you did the right thing. Now help me out so I can make a welcoming home dinner.''

She said passing Sarah, who was half wet, to me. '' You're not angry?'' I asked, hugging my baby sister as I gave my hand to Gem to get out. '' Nope. I love having children in the house, sometimes I get lonely.'' she says with a sad smile.

A few hours later when Jake woke up it was time for dinner. I helped his to the bathroom and back and got him some of my clothes to wear. I navigated him with the wheelchair to the dinning table. Gem handed Sarah to me and hugged Jake as a welcome.

''Welcome to the family!'' Gem was super excited and Jake's nervousness faded as the atmosphere became chilled and relaxed. Gem took the honour of introducing Jake to his eleven months old aunt.

Jake was comfortable with our family. Gem went to put Sarah to sleep while I accompanied Jake to his room.

'' Um...Sir when can I go back to school?'' he asked. '' Call me Kamren. We can discuss that in the morning, until then  I'll wait for your decision on whether you wish to be home schooled or go to a private school...''
