The days passed quickly, time went by even faster when she was doing something. That week, she had gone out for lunch with her friends twice, talked to her daughters. Ava was happy with her job, her ideas were paying off.
Alexander Cavelli had an excellent talent for writing and expressing his ideas.
Susan wandered around her house, it was too big for her, but she couldn't get rid of her daughters' house. Maybe some changes wouldn't hurt.
Changing the decoration or even building a smaller annex for herself and leaving that part for her daughters.
The point is that she had always been devoted to her daughters and husband.
Today she realized that she had done nothing for herself, to work or have any activity outside her family that would serve her personal development.
And today she found herself alone, her daughters no longer needed her as before, and her husband, who always needed her at home, paradoxically had left her for a woman totally different from what he wanted and always expected from her.
For days, she wandered around her house looking for the changes she would make.
That morning, when checking the mail, she saw that the invitation to Steve's daughter's wedding had arrived, addressed to her and her daughters. Ava was good friends with Rose.
Susan looked at the date, she would talk to Ava about it, and there came a new problem.
She had known Steve for over 27 years, she had seen his daughter grow up, how many times Rose had stayed overnight at that house. But Steve was David's partner, it was logical to assume that he would go to the party with Chloe. Was she prepared to go through such a moment? Because sharing an elevator for a few seconds was one thing, but sharing a wedding party was completely impossible. If only ten years had passed.
Susan smiled at that thought, she knew she would have to share certain moments of her daughters' lives with David, graduation, marriage, and she would have to tolerate Chloe. After all, she wasn't the main responsible, Chloe was only guilty of being interested in a committed man. David was the only one responsible, he broke his marital vows and brought that woman into their lives.
She looked at the wedding invitation once again, the wedding would take place in ten days, she would talk to Ava.
The next day, Ava called her mother.
"Darling, it's so good to hear from you. You know, I watched the series, my heart skipped a beat when I saw your name in the credits. I'm so proud of you, my girl. How you chase your dreams, I love you so much."
"Mom, you're going to make me cry. I love you too. Let's change the subject because I'm at work and I don't want to cry. How is everything over there?"
Alexander Cavelli listened to Ava's conversation. She was a bright and beautiful young girl, but for some reason, she didn't attract him sexually, as Jennifer did.
He got lost in his memories, thinking about Jennifer.
"You know, I wanted to ask you if you're going to Rose's wedding. It's in ten days," Susan informed.
"Exactly ten days, my boss is going to New York because it's his son's birthday on that date, and I was thinking of going to visit my boyfriend. I haven't seen him in weeks and I miss him like crazy," Ava said. Would it be wrong if I don't go to the wedding?
"Of course not, dear."
"Are you planning to go, Mom?" Ava asked.
"Actually, Joanne invited me to attend an exhibition in New York, by a French friend of hers, and I was thinking of staying a few days, doing some shopping, and seeing a Broadway show," Susan replied.
"That sounds great, Mom. I love knowing that you're doing well and have plans. I'll figure out something with Rose."
"I'll help you with that. How about I buy a beautiful gift and bring it to her, and apologize for not attending?"
"You're the best mom, and I'm so lucky."
"I'm even luckier to have wonderful daughters."
"I have to get back to work. I love you, I'll call you in a few days," Ava said.
"Love you, take care," Susan replied.
Ava ended the call, she couldn't help but smile. She was happy that her mother was moving on with her life.
"Everything alright?" Alexander asked.
"Better impossible, let's get back to work and write the ending," Ava responded.
Alexander smiled; Ava was excellent at her job. He knew she would be a great writer.
In his office, David Cooper continued to contemplate the note that Chloe had shown him.
"David! What are you thinking about?" Steve asked.
"Susan, I bumped into her at the restaurant the other night. Didn't you see her?" David asked.
"No, I didn't see her. How is she? We sent her the invitation to Rose's wedding, along with your daughters. I hope you don't mind," Steve replied.
"Of course not, it'll be a bit awkward. But I must give Chloe her place; going without Susan is not an option. Besides, I don't think Susan will mind considering she's parading around with a guy; in fact, she was with him at the restaurant," David explained.
"That's a good thing; it means she has accepted her divorce," Steve acknowledged.
"Yes, but he seems like an adventurer. I'm worried he might take advantage of her and steal her inheritance, so I've requested information about him," David shared.
"Are you worried that he might take advantage of her or that he might be interested in her?" Steve questioned.
"What are you saying, man? The only woman who matters to me is Chloe," David replied.
Just as promised, Susan bought the gift and took it to Rose's house.
After offering apologies on Ava's behalf,
Susan had tea with Steve's wife.
And finally, the big day arrived. Susan came down from her room, took her small suitcase, and headed to the airport.
New York, here I come!"
