• Example: Korean rock music, Hip Hop, and electronic music.

• K-pop or Korean Pop is the internationally popular, aesthetic-driven, style-bending, trendsetting, music genre of the 21st century.

• Originating in South Korea, K-pop draws influence from a range of genres like pop, experimental, rock, hip-hop, R&B, electronic, and dance.

• There are massive girl groups like Girls Generation who produce straightforward pop hits.

Aahi: And what is a K-pop group?

• Ofcourse if you're still completely new to K-pop music, then think of pop bands such as One Direction and Fifth Harmony in the west, they're close to the concept of idols.

Unlike other musical genres, contemporary K-pop start can be pinpointed to a certain date: April 11th of 1992, when the groups Seo Taiji and Boys performed their music on TV for the first time.

They were active in the mid-1990s and were known for experimenting with different music genres.

For example, they were the pioneers of integrating rap into K-pop.

The very first group in K-Pop to exist was H.O.T., which debuted in 1996.

The group has been credited as the group that started the Korean pop culture.

And with the emergence of BoA and TVXQ on the scene in 2003, the popularity of K-pop truly soared.
