Episode 10

Upon arriving at the hospital, Dimas immediately sought out Riko and Satrio, who were certainly still in the emergency room (ER). After searching for Riko, Dimas eventually found him.

Dimas quickly walked over to where Riko was sitting in a chair by the gurney. Dimas could see that Satrio had an IV in his arm. It appeared that Satrio had already received treatment.

"Dimas, you're here? How's the house? Is Pak Wongso going to take care of it?" Riko asked upon noticing Dimas standing next to Satrio's gurney. Riko had been lost in thought, hence he hadn't realized Dimas’s presence earlier.

Dimas nodded in reply. "You can see them, Rik, so do you also know what really happened to Satrio?" Dimas asked, hoping to find out more.

Riko was taken aback by Dimas's question. If only Riko knew what had happened to Satrio, he would have told Dimas already.

Riko shook his head weakly in response to Dimas’s question. He was also perplexed by his waning sensitivity. Perhaps later Riko would ask his grandfather, who could also see beings from the other realm.

"I feel really weird, Dim. My sensitivity towards them seems to have diminished. I can't even foresee what really happened to Satrio," Riko confided, sharing his inner turmoil.

Dimas raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "So, you usually can know and see? Have you ever communicated with restless spirits before?" Dimas asked, becoming interested in the topic.

"That’s just it. Ever since I stayed at that official residence, I've become less perceptive. I can see, but I can't look into their past anymore," Riko replied, puzzled by his fading sensitivity to the supernatural.

Dimas furrowed his brow in confusion, not understanding such matters. "Could something be blocking you, perhaps?" Dimas suggested, seeking clarification.

Riko shook his head faintly and said, "I don't know. I'll have to ask my grandfather. He knows all about what I'm experiencing," Riko concluded. Dimas nodded and decided not to delve too deep.

Before long, Satrio regained consciousness and opened his eyes. On awakening, Satrio started and sat up abruptly, as if frightened. "It’s okay, Riko, it’s me, Dimas," Dimas said, trying to soothe him.

Satrio looked around fearfully. Dimas moved closer to provide comfort, "Don’t worry, Sat. You’re safe here."

After hearing Dimas’s words, Satrio gradually calmed down. Riko continued to watch Satrio, who seemed to be frightened of something, but chose not to ask just yet, fearing it might worsen Satrio's fear. Satrio would share when he was ready.

Once Satrio was more composed, Dimas released his embrace and looked at him questioningly. Satrio, noticing Dimas’s gaze, said, "It seems like they’re disturbing me," with his body trembling from fear.

"Don't think about that now. You need to get better first," Riko calmed him, and Dimas nodded in agreement.

*

Satrio was only hospitalized for one day. He was allowed to go home since his condition had improved, though the doctor recommended he rest some more.

Dimas and Riko took three days off work. They had agreed to keep Satrio company and watch over him.

Night came, and the atmosphere in the official residence felt sinister following Satrio's experience. He still didn’t know why he had been disturbed two days earlier. He had never bothered "them."

"I’ll sleep in your room, okay, Dim?" Satrio asked permission. He was not yet ready to go back to his own room due to the trauma he felt.

"Yeah, you can sleep in my room for now, Sat," Dimas replied with an understanding smile. "You can sleep in my room too, Sat," Riko agreed, sympathetic to Satrio's current state.

Satrio nodded and thanked his friends. Then they retired to the bedroom to sleep. Soon after, Dimas heard Satrio’s soft snoring.

Dimas felt relieved that Satrio could sleep tonight. As for himself, Dimas was still confused and curious about the events that had occurred while they were in the official residence.

Dimas lay on his back, gazing at the ceiling, struggling to remember the dream that had filled his sleep. Yet, he vividly remembered a girl named Bening.

Eventually, Dimas decided to stop pondering and fell asleep to rejuvenate for tomorrow.

Dimas had been tossing and turning in bed for an hour because he seemed unable to fall asleep. Tired of trying, he eventually sat up.

*What really is happening? Why does everything seem so mysterious?* Dimas pondered internally\, thoroughly confused. He\, too\, had been disturbed like Satrio\, albeit without a physical and psychological attack.

Different people endure psychic pressures differently. Some are resilient under strain, while others are easily weakened when their psyche is assaulted.

Feeling bored, Dimas decided to leave the room. Perhaps a cold drink would cool his thoughts as well.

The clock struck midnight. Dimas was still wide awake, unsure what was happening to his body.

Dimas opted to sit in the living room, which offered a direct view of the outside through a glass window.

Once again, Dimas found himself mesmerized by the banyan tree growing lushly in front of the house. He sensed something within it, as if it harbored a dark secret.

Thump!

Startled, Dimas’s heart raced due to the noise from the kitchen, especially since he had been daydreaming. His heart felt as if it would leap out of his chest.

Dimas took several deep breaths to calm himself, then tiptoed to the kitchen to investigate the noise.

With a click, the light came on, but the room was empty except for a toppled chair. Rubbing his eyes, Dimas stood the chair up again.

Click.

The kitchen was dark once more, but now Dimas's heart raced at the sight of a woman's silhouette sitting in the very chair he had just righted.

Click. Click. Click. Click. Click.

Dimas turned the light on and off repeatedly. His vision stayed consistent. When the light was off, he saw the seated woman's silhouette, and when it was on, she vanished.

Click.

"Ahh!" Dimas shouted in horror, falling backward to the floor, his breath ragged and heart pounding erratically.

The apparition before him was very real and stumbling towards him. Retreating, Dimas moved back still seated on the floor.

Thud. Thud. Thud.
