Episode 9

After parking his car in the driveway, Riko and Dimas quickly walked into the house.

Crash!

Riko opened the door forcefully and found no sign of Satrio in the common areas. Then, Riko and Dimas headed towards Satrio's room, suspecting he might be asleep from medication.

Riko gently opened Satrio's room door, careful not to disturb his rest. Dimas followed close behind. However, when the door swung open, both Riko and Dimas were taken aback by the disorderly state of the room—items strewn all over.

Their gaze landed on Satrio, lying on the floor, his face and arms marred with bruises. Riko and Dimas dashed to Satrio's aid.

"Satrio! Wake up, Sat!" Riko called out in fear. He also cleared away the shattered lamp pieces beside Satrio, relieved that no glass had cut Satrio.

Yes, when the lamp was about to fall, Satrio had the strength to dodge, shifting his body to avoid being crushed. But afterward, Satrio passed out from the pain flooding his body, his head spinning, and his vision going dark.

Dimas, more composed, checked for Satrio's pulse and breathing, confirming he was still alive. "Satrio has fainted; we need to get him to a hospital now!" Dimas urged, his voice tinged with sadness but also relief that Satrio was still breathing.

They had no idea what had befallen Satrio, causing his distressing state. Without delay, Riko and Dimas carried Satrio to the car. Once Satrio was laid down in the back seat, Riko hurriedly drove towards the hospital to get Satrio medical attention.

Dimas, however, did not accompany them to the hospital because he needed to call the housekeeping staff in charge of cleaning the official residence. After making sure the car Riko was driving had disappeared, Dimas re-entered the house and contacted Mr. Wongso, the cleaner in charge.

Mr. Wongso came every other day to clean, and today was off-schedule since he had just cleaned the day before.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

The call connected, but there was no sign that Mr. Wongso would pick up. Feeling it was futile, Dimas decided it was better to go to Mr. Wongso's house in person, suspecting he might be occupied and unable to hear the phone.

After ensuring the door was locked, Dimas walked swiftly towards Mr. Wongso's residence, not far from where he lived. In just five minutes, Dimas arrived at Mr. Wongso's front door. He promptly knocked before entering.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Click.

"Ah, Dimas... What brings you here?" Mr. Wongso asked with a broad smile.

Dimas smiled back respectfully, nodding to Mr. Wongso. He then explained, "Mr. Wongso, I'm in need of assistance. Could you please come over to the house? It's in complete disarray."

Dimas noticed Mr. Wongso's hesitant expression, but after a moment, Mr. Wongso agreed to clean despite it being his off day.

"Thank you, Mr. Wongso. Let's head back together," Dimas expressed his gratitude.

Together, the men from different generations made their way back to the official residence.

"How could it get this messy?" Mr. Wongso wondered aloud, taken aback by the chaotic state of the room.

Dimas could only shake his head, equally clueless about what might have occurred. "I'm not sure either, Mr. Wongso. But when Riko and I got here, Satrio was already down, bruised all over," Dimas finally shared.

Mr. Wongso covered his mouth in disbelief, his mind racing to past events that had struck others who had lived here. He, too, had been like Dimas, Riko, and Satrio—a government office worker and a migrant.

Seeing Mr. Wongso lost in thought, Dimas roused him. "Don't wander off in thought. Are you considering something?" he prodded, urging Mr. Wongso to reveal his thoughts.

Mr. Wongso shook his head, attempting a strained smile. "Nothing, Dimas. Just thinking about what could have happened to Mr. Satrio," he lied.

Dimas eyed Mr. Wongso suspiciously, sensing something amiss. "Alright then, please clean up for now, Mr. Wongso. I need to join Riko at the hospital to watch over Satrio," Dimas said his goodbyes.

After receiving the go-ahead from Mr. Wongso, Dimas quickly booked a ride-share to follow Riko to the hospital.
