Episode 8

Satrio’s POV.

Currently, Satrio is feeling unwell due to the window in his room being left open the previous night. He's caught a draft and has decided not to go to his government office job. Riko and Dimas have just left for work. Both insisted on keeping him company and taking the day off as well.

Satrio certainly feels guilty at the thought of his friends taking time off work on his account. They even proposed taking turns to stay with him. Eventually, after much persuasion from Satrio to alleviate their concerns, Riko and Dimas reluctantly agreed to go to the office as planned.

Satrio is experiencing a headache. His stomach is also queasy, and he feels like vomiting. However, after taking a traditional herbal remedy for his ailment, his condition has improved compared to when he first woke up this morning.

Suddenly, Satrio’s throat feels parched. He attempts to check if there is a glass of water on his nightstand, but there is none. This means he must get out of bed and make his way to the kitchen.

Just as he reaches for a glass on his nightstand, it unexpectedly slides by itself and falls to the floor, shattering into pieces. The shards look completely destroyed. Satrio frowns in confusion – the glass wasn’t that high off the floor, so why did it break so thoroughly? He wonders but chooses not to dwell on it. He heads out to get a water bottle and a broom to sweep up the shattered glass from his room. Once in the kitchen, he grabs a bottle and fills it with water to the brim.

After securing the bottle, Satrio proceeds to the back room where the broom and dustpan are stored. Acquiring them, he returns to his room. What adds to Satrio’s confusion is the sight of his glass, seemingly intact, residing once more on his nightstand, despite having just broken it.

Satrio’s heart beats erratically, and his gaze sweeps cautiously around the room. Then, a woman's sobbing can be heard within his chamber, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end while he continues his vigilant survey.

Abruptly, something grabs his leg, causing Satrio to fall to the floor.

"Ow!" Satrio cries out in pain. Not long after, he feels his body being lifted into the air. Terrified by the turn of events, Satrio pleads to be set free, his already pale face from sickness turning even paler due to fright.

Hahahaha!!

Hahahaha!!

Eerie laughter resonates in Satrio’s ears. Sobbing uncontrollably, he remains suspended in mid-air. "Please, don’t do this, what have I done wrong?" he implores between tears.

Suddenly, the entity drops Satrio to the floor with immense force. He lies there, drained and powerless after being subjected to the rough contact twice.

Satrio shuts his eyes tight, overwhelmed with fear. He also hopes someone will come to his aid. "Someone, please help me!" he screams, hoping someone nearby might hear his call for help.

The entity drags his body roughly once again until it collides with his desk. Items from the surface fall to the floor, narrowly missing Satrio as he dodges them. Again, the malicious laughter echoes in his ears.

Satrio cries bitterly, fraught with fear and pain. He wants to scream for help, but he feels completely drained by the violent tossing.

His body is dragged to the center of the room, beneath the brightly lit overhead lamp. Panting, with his body shaking from pain and fear, Satrio's eyes remain tightly closed.

Attempting to compose himself, Satrio dares to open his eyes and views his now disheveled room. Bruises cover his body, as he laments his misfortune and regrets not consenting to his friends’ company. He takes this as a lesson learned.

"Dad... Mom... Dimas... Riko... Please help me...." Satrio whispers sorrowfully.

Satrio kicks himself for not heeding his parents, who had opposed his transfer to this city. He was too tempted by the substantial salary, neglecting his own well-being.

"Forgive me, Dad, Mom. I should have listened to you," Satrio sobs, overwhelmed with regret for accepting such a high-paying job. He would have preferred lower pay if it meant being safe.

As he is consumed by sadness and regret, the light fixture directly above starts to loosen and then,

CRASH!!!!

*

"Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling about Satrio, Rik?" Dimas says, feeling uneasy.

"I feel like I heard Satrio calling our names," Riko adds.

Riko and Dimas exchange a worried glance. Without hesitation, they rush out of the government office and head for the home they share.

Earlier, they had sought permission from their boss to visit Satrio under the pretense of his illness. Fortunately, their boss readily agreed, sparing them further delay.

"Hopefully, everything is alright with Satrio," Dimas prays. Riko echoes his sentiment, fearing that nothing untoward has befallen their friend.

"I'm scared that creature is bothering Satrio, Dim. Ever since we discussed 'them' on the front porch, they've been watching us as we spoke. But one seemed more prominent than the others and it possessed tremendous strength," Riko explains as he drives, focused on the road ahead.

"The presence you saw in the bathroom doesn't linger anymore, replaced by the one that disturbed us and Satrio earlier. Its owner must have retrieved it, perhaps switching it out for this new one," continues Riko.

Indeed, Dimas had shared with Riko and Satrio his encounters with the supernatural. He hadn't expected that discussing 'them' could attract their attention like a magnet, leading them to observe us.

Yes... Although Dimas can't see them, he can feel their presence. It is Riko who informs him that those they speak of also attend, silently witnessing our conversation.
