Hidden Intentions

“Suji!”

Suji immediately turned her head to the familiar voice that called her name. “Who was that? Who called me?” She thought.

“Suji!!”

A certain girl caught her eye. She was waving at her while smiling widely…

“Oh- It was that girl. What was her name again?”

“Suji! Why are you just staring at me? Hmm… you forgot my name didn’t you?” The girl said with a joking tone

“What? Uhm no…?”

The girl stared at her for a few seconds and laughed.

“You did! AHAHAHAHA what the hell suji?”

“Ah…sorry…” she apologized while bowing her head, too embarrassed to look at the girl.

“I’m not angry suji, I figured out that you would forget since we’re not close. My name is yoona” she said as she gave suji a big smile.

“Oh! Right! Sorry yoona, Im just really forgetful” suji said, still avoiding yoona’s eyes.

Yoona grabbed her by her shoulders and started to lean towards her.

“Don’t worry and don’t be awkward, after all we’re friends!” Yoona said-still smiling at suji.

“Uh-yeah”

“So uhm… didn’t you have a guy friend?” Yoona asked her with an obvious excitement.

Suji noticed it and started to think how yoona knew about her having a guy friend.

“Oh- I always see you together with some guy…and you call him hakkun something right?” Yoona continued.

“Oh…uhm yeah” suji replied in confusion.

“You…you’re not together today”

“Hakkun…he’s coming, just doing some errand for the teachers”

Yoona smiled widely after she heard what suji said. It was as if she was waiting for this moment her whole life. She can’t seem to hide the fact that she’s excited to meet him.

Yoona turned to suji once again and asked

“So…what kind of friend is that guy-hakkun?”

Suji was rather surprised with the question. She finds it weird that a person who wants to be her friend is curious about her friend. Even with the confusion, suji answered her.

“Hakkun is really nice…he never let anyone hurt me and he always takes me home everyday”

“What- are you dating?” Yoona asked.

This time, suji noticed the displeasure in yoona’s face even though she was smiling.

“No, we’re just friends…we’re just really close-uhm like siblings” suji replied.

The displeasure slowly fades in yoona’s face.

“But you know… why does he always take you home everyday? It’s not like you’re still a kid”

“Well…uhm” suji couldn’t answer.

She can’t tell her that it was because Mr.Pom harassed her once and that Hakkun didn’t want that to happen again. She have no courage to share what she experienced to other people other than hakkun. Suji started to sweat.

“What?”

Yoona started to get curious as suji was not answering her question.

“It’s uhm nothing” suji replied avoiding yoona’s eyes once again.

“Did…something happen to you?”

Suji was suprised. She immediately looked at yoona’s face with a terrified face. She was sweating heavily as if she just ran a mile.

“Something did happen. What is it? Did a teacher hara-”

“Sujiii!!!!”

A male voice interrupted yoona. Both of them looked at the boy running towards suji. It was Hakkun.

“Suji! I thought you went home all alone! You got me real worried” Hakkun said worriedly.

“Sorry Hakkun, I was just wondering” suji replied.

Hakkun looked at yoona and looked at suji again. His eyes are obviously asking her who’s the other girl.

“Oh! Uhm this is yoona, my friend”

“Friend?…oh. Hello! Nice to meet you, I’m Hakkun” he said smiling awkwardly.

“Hello, I’m yoona.” She smiled as she ran her fingers through her ear.

The next few minutes was filled with silence. They were all awkward with each other until yoona decided to speak.

“How about we go to-”

“Sorry, We have to go home now or we’ll be late for dinner”. Hakkun once again interrupted yoona.

Suji finds it weird again. Hakkun had never interrupted anyone when they’re talking but he interrupted her.

“Oh..is that so?” Yoona smiled awkwardly

“Yeah sorry” Hakkun said as he held suji’s hand

Suji was lost in her thoughts. She doesn’t know how to handle the situation so she chose not to say anything.

“Then…I’ll go home now too. Bye suji”

“Uhm-bye…sorry yoona” suji apologized in embarrassment

“Yeah, bye”

Hakkun turned to look at suji and asked her

“Why would you apologize? You didn’t do anything wrong”

Without giving suji a chance to reply. Hakkun started to walk holding her hand. Suji doesn’t know what’s wrong with Hakkun and she couldn’t bring herself to ask.

After riding the bus home, they continued to walk.

Hakkun once again turned to look at suji. He stopped walking and patted her head.

“I’m not angry suji…I’m just suggesting that you shouldn’t apologize especially if you’re not at fault…I don’t like seeing people look down at you” Hakkun said reassuring suji. He once again smiled and hugged her.

Suji smiled. She thought

“I wish I can have Hakkun forever. I think I can get through anything if I have him”
