Orethas Past part three

Things seemed good for a while, but surely It wouldn’t be the last

time I disappointed my family and my parents, they decided I would go

to a school that would be for the followers of the faith. I ended up

not seeing my friends again it was as if I was judged for any and

everything. I remember that the summer I was to go into the next grade

was rough. My family had kept me in activities to keep me busy. They

brought me to s school completely different than everything and

anything before. It was a hall of marbled floors and everything seemed

to be in pristine order. It was almost as if I entered a different

world almost. “Oretha you have to change..you must do what is

needed you must get a good education I am spending a lot of money on

this school for you to do well.” Walking through halls and

sets of doors and rooms till we walked into a small office,

Occasionally telling people who we were and why we were there.

“Hello, welcome to West Faith. They will see you in the room to

the left.” My father and I gave a proper greeting and I bowed beside

my father. “Snider Family we will see you now.” We were escorted

in and there were three people there lightly elevated above us. It was

as if time stood still, the room was very dimly lit and only a

small amount of light would crack in as we would look at each other.

“Hello, my name is Oretha Snider.” Greeting as they began to

explain who they were. “I am the principal of faith west, Beside on

my left is the school counselor and to my right is the vice

president.” The board of people who most would describe as pompous

and proud, you could tell that they were nicely dressed in ties and

the counselor was an elderly lady that was in a nice dress. I

could feel the intense pressure in the room rise, I knew I was in

for some questioning. “Oretha what do you think about west faith

right now?” I looked around and I knew from the look of things I

would have to act as eloquently as possible. “I have not been in

and experienced west faith long enough to have an opinion about it.

I think that the building and the interior are rather well put

together and the colors of the west faith banner are very bold and eye-catching” The banner was strategically placed with a cross in the

middle and the colors red white and black popped out for all to see.

“Oretha how would you describe yourself if you were in front of

judges.” I had to think for a moment there were a lot of ways this

could have been meant. “If I were to describe myself to someone, I

would say I am very loving, kind, understanding, soft, genuine. I

would say I am a young lady who believes in the faith and someone always willing to learn and grow.” I had felt like at this

moment I wanted to be honest with myself I knew I wasn't anything like

anyone else said.. at this moment I wanted to be just a bit freer and a bit more like myself. I couldn’t look at their faces and

I hated that my heart beat a million beats per minute. “What kind

of arts do you like? Are you into sports? How is your educational

experience thus far?”It was a bit of f rapid-fire moment as if

they wanted to see how well I would do under pressure, under

pretenses of overwhelming me with a multitude of questions. “ I

love to sing and I love music I am into the dramatics, but I am too shy

for the stage. I like to run and swim, I have done shot put as well.

I have a general public educational background.” To which it all

began to get quiet and I could feel them look to my father, and was

escorted to a private room. “Oretha, it is a pleasure to meet you

I am Judy. I am the counselor here. Let me show you to some of the

art rooms and to the field are, where students will eat lunch. The

school has so much to offer you.” I began to follow out a door that

lead us to the side of the office it was almost like magic was

playing tricks on my mind. I could even hear the pattering of her

shoes beside me as we walked on the marbled floor that matched the

colors of the school's banner. “Oretha, what nationality are you,

you have a very beautiful color to your skin.” I smiled and looked

around as we came upon chapel doors that were decorated with the

banners of the school. “Well my father is Aermani and my mother is

a woman from the sands of Medini.” The doors opened “Oh well, We

never have had someone here of the sands before, don’t worry you

will fit right in here everyone is welcomed to try to join us at west

faith.” Her arms opened as it looked like a gymnasium that was

turned into a makeshift gathering or service. “This is where

everyone gathers, it is also our sports center for indoor, so

basketball and those types of things. We also do service to honor

the father of our faith here.” I just followed and listened since

the incident I was already used to going to church and listening to

people talk like that. “No, I understand totally.” Her voice and

mine seemed to echo through and I felt it through my entire body. We

walked a bit further and out a set of doors that went down the hallway

that had several classrooms and even some places to use the

restroom. “This is where everyone eats. So Oretha how do you

feel about seeing the music room? “ I looked at her and smiled “Oh

I’d love to, I would love to one day learn to do more with music,

I love to sing.” Walking down another set of all-ways that turned

down a hall with a large dome. “Oh, this is where we do our

dramatic and our indoor performances and talent shows you know

smaller formed performances and functions.” I nodded as I followed

her to a room in the back with a plethora of musical decorations,

instruments everywhere.” It was magical for me it was like stepping

into a room with a lot of noises and vibrations. I loved how

instruments always sounded against my ears it was like notes dancing

and the hums and tunes would vibrate off my body in a way that it

would resonate within my body for a few moments even after. “This

is Gundal, he is our music teacher here, he also does the marching

band for the sports team. I stood before a man that had a gut that

almost looked like a child was about to bust out of him at any

second, “This is Otretha she is the next one to possibly join

the faith. She is interested in music, care to take her

around?”Looking at him I could tell that things were about to take

a turn for me maybe I could find something that would be enlightening

and allow me to express myself. Gundal took me around and showed me

all kinds of instruments.” these are the percussion instruments,

this is the basis of music, every song has a beat.”I could

practically see the notes in my mind flying around me and I began to

look at big round shiny metal instruments that had rings on the

inside and in the center a band for your hand that almost cupped

perfectly in your hand. “That is the cymbals, it would be a good

starter instrument for you.” I nodded “They look very loud, Could

I play them?” I picked them up and held those slightly fuzzy

leather hands straps around my hand. They were light but were bigger

than my face, picking them up I closed my eyes and felt my ears lift

as if I was cautious about how loud they were about to be. Suddenly

when my hands clamped them together there was ringing in my ears so

much so that I could feel the whole sound through my body it was

magnificent. It was like something sparked in me at that moment and I

wanted to learn more It was like my body was calling me just like

when I sang alone when taking walks or dancing when alone in my room.

“You know you can do tricks with those as well?” I looked at

Gundal. “You can how do you do them?” It was a little bit of

excitement in my soul awakening for something, I wanted to create

something. “Yeah like this, you hold them like this, and

you can change the sounds that they make by how you clamp them

together.” He began to do tricks and showed me all the ways to play

the cymbal. “You might even team up next to the quad-player.” he

even showed me how to play and perform while spinning them in the

air. To which he smiled and told Judy. “Oh I would love to have her

in the music program she is a quick learner, you know Marching band

starts next week. It would give her time to adjust to the school and

she will be able to add to our small numbers.” I would peer around

the room at this time and play the piano even though I didn't know

what notes they were yet. I began to play and hear how they went

together and what would sound nice together. I played a somber melody

that sounded as if it was soft and sweet and I played them on the

black keys that were there. To which they both stopped and looked at

me for a split second and began speaking in hushed tones. Which I

didn't mind because it was as if I was in my own space and moment

at that time, I was playing myself on the piano and it was beautiful and

it sounded sad. It is the moment that made me express all the feelings I

had about Hemper on the piano it was almost as if I was beginning to

let him out of my soul it was as if I was watching even my friends

began to walk away from me as I sat there in a new world that new….It

was new and I was beginning it all over again alone. It was time to

once again I played with instruments for what seemed hours it felt

great. I looked at the door and Judy was gone in the next second

Gundal began to take me around and show me all the instruments and

teach me how to play the basics of all of them. There was the

flute Sax Sousaphone Cymbals and bass drum, the list would seem

unending to me.
