Lunox - Twilight Origins Part II

Chapter IV

It has been one year since Lunox found the power of light in the cave, and Lunox is now seen as the little hero of the tribe instead of an ominous girl. During this year, her mother has taught her everything that she needs to know about the power of light. Her mother shared her past when she was in the biggest tribe of the north. They worship the Lord of Light. And one day, the elder of her tribe disagreed on starting a massive war against the biggest tribe of the south. But the Lord of Light had made his mind to do it. Because he believed that the order would only come back to Land of Dawn after defeating the Lord of Abyss. However, prophets from her mother’s tribe predicted that they would lose this war. This made the Lord of Light feel challenged and he decided to let the tribe of Lunox’s mother lead the charge with the whole army. At last, her mother became the last survivor of her family.

 Lunox tried to pull her mother out of this sad story. She told her mother that she had the same dream, ofter after she got back from the cave. She dreamed of the unique god, that he made a world of order and chaos. She couldn’t see the face of God. But she thought of the teachings from tribe’s shamans. That god should be the Unique God and he made the Land of Dawn out of order and chaos. Lunox also saw in the dream when the God waving his hands, the light and darkness was controlled by him. And in that dream, Lunox often felt terrible because of absorbing too much light and dark power. She cried, she struggled to get out of this dream. When she was trying to leave dream, everything became obscured all of sudden. She saw an amazing halo around her. With this halo, Lunox felt comfortable and familiar. She always woke up when she was trying to touch it.

After done listening to her, Lunox’s mother said maybe because you are tired, or maybe your destiny would need this ability to look back at past in the dream. And her mother continued that not everyone in the world has this ability. This ability is a gift from the Unique God for someone special, like the shaman of the tribe can predict and the tribe’s leader can control the element of fire. Lunox’s mother also let her girl keep this ability as a secret in case of unnecessary troubles. She never wanted her daughter to suffer from war and she was often trying to stop Lunox from making new breakthroughs with her powers. However, the curious Lunox didn’t agree. She practiced a lot in secret. And She found that she can not only attack with Starlight Pulse but also recover a bit after hitting a target. This effect surprised her.

 One day, a newly promoted hunter ordered some younger kids and Lunox to go find fruits and vegetables in mountains. Lunox took that order immediately. Because she knew that hunter hates her and her family for their difference from others in the tribe. She didn’t know if the hunter would do something extreme to her family. Those kids were always afraid of wandering beasts in the mountains until they knew the youngest mage in the tribe would also come. They became very assured and asked to get in deeper for more food. They found the wandering beasts they heard from rumors were actually aggressive monster rabbits. Lunox handled them with ease, at first, but with the appearance of more monster rabbits, she found she didn’t have more capability to protect the other kids. After tens of monster rabbits handle, kids grew worried because these beasts were coming in groups. Lunox started to feel tired so that she wanted to take them back to the tribe as soon as possible.

On their way back to the tribe, a black monster much bigger than an adult obstructed the way. Lunox let other kids run back to get some help and she stayed to delay the monster. After lots of attacks, Lunox could no longer fight. She decided to use the final spell that her mother taught her. This spell is called Brilliance. It can create a light shield. According to her mother, you can not use this spell unless you have the recognition of the Lord of Light or the Unique God. And of course, much more power is needed with this final spell.

Lunox was focusing on accumulating power as the black monster was dashing towards her. When the monster almost touched her, she succeeded in casting the spell. A light shield appeared which protected her from the monster. She saw the monster couldn’t get through the shield and for some reason, it was also suffering. When Lunox tried to figure out if her spell went wrong, she saw a sharp red arrow hit the monster. She looked back and she saw her father with some other hunters from the tribe.

That night, most of the people in the tribe were happily enjoying rabbit meat and vegetables. However, Lunox spent the whole night explaining to her parents why she and other kids went into the mountains. She also told her mother that she cast Brilliance successfully. Also, it seemed there is a relation between Starlight Pulse and Brilliance. Her dad told her that she would be able to cast Brilliance after she accumulated three Starlight Pulses. Her dad was willing and happy to share what he knew with his dear daughter. Lunox went to sleep early in order to get up earlier the next day and practice new spell. That night Lunox dreamed of a battle, the 2nd catastrophe that a large number of dark monsters attacked the tribe.

The next day, Lunox spent more time mastering Brilliance. In her best state, she could hold the shield for seconds when she could also damage her enemies bit by bit. She became a well-known and capable little mage. She was also generous and happy to help others. With the time passing by, all the other kids in the tribe started to respect her appearance and her family. They also started to admire her ability and her personality. When everyone in the tribe was living a peaceful life, countless dark monsters appeared in front of them. It’s the first time that Lunox’s dream got realized. Lunox was so surprised that she forgot to react.

Chapter V

In Lunox’s dream, the whole village was in flames and destroyed. She didn’t stop looking for her parents. Suddenly she felt some something burning on her skin.  The image became more clear. She heard a louder scream than in the nightmare. She saw this broken tribe and everything was the same as in the dream. The Dark Armies of the Lord of Abyss invaded this tribe again with an overwhelming number of soldiers. The army was crazy about killing citizens and destroying everyone’s homes. Lunox saw a familiar old man was protecting his wife and running away from their burning house. At this time, a monster in a black robe was waving his ax in the air to attack this old man. Lunox ran over there and cast Starlight Pulse to attack the monster. The dark monster noticed her and tried to fight back. But fortunately, Lunox was experienced enough from her father’s training to evade and attack back. Lunox shouted to that old couple and started accumulating power to cast Brilliance for shield protection and hurt the monster at the same time.

Brilliance succeeded in killing that dark monster, but more and more monsters were coming here for them. Lunox was surrounded by three dark warriors. When she was fighting them with the power of light, her parents attracted other soldiers’ attention and led them out of the village. They worried that people in the village would get more damage. Even in this situation, Lunox’s parents were still sorry about taking these monsters’ lives. When they reached the Enchanted forest, more dark warriors appeared and some dark shadows attacked them in stealth. Lunox just finished enemies around her. She saw her parents were trapped and attacked by countless enemies. Her parents were fighting together bravely but they gradually fell into a bad situation because of fatigue and the number of enemies. When Lunox arrived, two sharp steel weapons pierced her parents’ chests. Lunox saw this scene and realized everyone else in the village were killed as well. One of the monsters was grabbing some shining treasure. Lunox’s whole life flashed in her mind. Her birth, those misunderstandings, and adventures to the forest, Lunox couldn’t take this great grief. A never before seen power inside Lunox burst out and it destroyed every dark monster near them.

The invasion came to an end. Lunox ran to her parents but she didn’t notice a silent assassin was trying to attack her from behind. Her father sensed the danger and pushed Lunox away with his last breath. Orfax took the attack for his dear daughter and died. Lunox screamed out in grief. A different power came out of Lunox. Suddenly, something opposite to the power of light burst out of Lunox–The power of chaos. Lunox unleashed the chaos power and ruined her surroundings without limits. She looked at her dying mother with tears in her eyes. Lunox held her mother and put her together with her dad. She embraced her parents tightly and cried with her heart broken. But Lunox’s mother told her that the world was just like this, resentment, revenge, and grief would always be in the world. None of these but only a balanced love for every life in this land could lead world to peace. Lunox didn’t understand what her mother was trying to tell her, and she swore revenge upon both light and darkness.

 Chapter VI

Lunox’s parents both lost their lives during this tragic invasion which brought Lunox great pain. She began to question the reason for her existence and began to blame herself for everyone's deaths. Absentminded Lunox got punched in to a broken house by a hidden dark followers. And the rest of the dark army was trying to retreat with the Twilight Orb while the warriors of light stopped in front of them. As more soldiers of the Lord of Light showed themselves, the armies of darkness were ambushed with the goal of acquiring the Twilight Orb. Two armies started fighting against each other. It became a big war. More forces from both sides came from everywhere to join. Even the Lord of Light and the Lord of Abyss who were resting and restoring their power put on their armor and came here.

However, Lunox had no strength to stand up. She fainted. In her dream, she saw an ocean. In the ocean, her parents were calling her name on an isolated island far away from her. She tried looking for every possible way to reach the island. But behind her,  was the cruel invasion and the broken village. Lunox tried to wake up but a strange energy was leading her to someplace in the dream. A man stood up in the sky. He saw Lunox coming and told her that he is the Unique God–Her creator. All these sufferings were necessary for Lunox's path. It was terrible for Lunox but it was only a small part compared to her destiny. The Unique God told Lunox that she had both the power of light and darkness. And these two powers were from given to her by her parents, light from her mother and darkness from her dad. Lunox missed her parents so much that she begged the Unique God. She would give everything to trade her parents back. The Unique God waved his hand, and everyone’s fate in the land appeared in front of Lunox. Her parents’ destinies had been fulfilled but Lunox’s was not. God asked Lunox if she was willing to accept her fate for the Land of Dawn and her family. Lunox’s parents came in front of her and talked to her “My dear girl, you are the hope of world and you are the only one to balance the world. Lunox, accept it, for us, and for the world.” Lunox looked at the Unique God and her parents. She had mixed feelings. She wanted her parents back so much that losing them left her in deep sadness. And she was also a bit angry towards the Unique God that he just didn’t want to bring her parents back to life. She also understood her parents’ words and she was also willing to take her fate. Lunox was struggling about if she should accept her fate. Her anger made her start accumulating power and punching towards the God. When the punch was just about to hit God, Lunox stopped and said Yes crying.

The Unique God put his hand over Lunox’s head and told her “Everything in the Land of Dawn needs you. You are the first major gift I've given the world. You have the blessing of The Twilight Orb.” A halo combined with both order and chaos appeared around Lunox. After this, Lunox woke up. The buildings around her were falling down, but a ray of light and darkness knocked back the walls and bricks.

She walked in front of the Lord of Light and Lord of Abyss. With the halo around her shining even brighter, Lunox started using her power after the enlightenment of the Unique God. She started absorbing energy and power from both armies and divine lords. Soldiers gradually lost their ability. But two opposite energy were conflicting inside Lunox which brought her pain. She must hold on, if not this world wouldn’t get balanced and achieve peace. Lunox did it, she succeeded in absorbing all the power from the Lord of Light and Lord of Abyss and sealing it inside her, but she also used up all her power. Both lords lost their powers and they couldn’t do anything else but went back to their lands and waited for next return.

Lunox entered a long slumber. She was attracted by the sky. She flew into the Twilight Orb and waited for next time the Land of Dawn needed her again. With Lunox sleeping inside, the Twilight Orb dropped from the sky and into the Western Desert. This was the end of last war between Light and Darkness. Peace finally came to the Land of Dawn. But peace never lasts forever, war will always come again.
