Episode 9

(Aurora)

I woke up at 10 in the morning, it's already late, I was supposed to be working since 8, this can't be happening, I overslept.

I grabbed my phone and called the hospital, luckily a colleague will cover for me today, everyone knows what my mother and I are going through, and she offered to support me.

Then I got up and took a shower, stepping out wrapped in a towel and another around my hair. As I left the bathroom, I noticed a note and opened it.

***GOOD MORNING\, I HOPE YOU SLEPT WELL. IN THE LIVING ROOM\, MY DRIVER WILL LEAVE YOU CLOTHES AND BREAKFAST. I WON'T SEE YOU UNTIL TOMORROW AT THE WEDDING. HE WILL TAKE YOU WHEREVER YOU NEED TO GO AND HE WILL ALSO TAKE YOU TO OUR WEDDING.

ANDREW***

(Aurora)

I felt so nice that he took the time to write, even though it wasn't romantic, he took the time.

I went and had breakfast and then got dressed.

Since I was ready, I went to the hospital to see my mother.

As it was starting to get cold, I put on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. I tied my hair back and, since I don't usually wear a lot of makeup, I quickly finished getting ready. I made the bed and tidied everything up, then put on my sneakers and grabbed my purse before heading down to the car. The chauffeur drove me to the hospital, and although having a driver feels strange, I won't contradict Andrew.

I arrived at the hospital and quickly went to see my mother.

Aurora: Good morning, Mom. How are you feeling?

Mónica: I'm feeling much better, honey.

Oliver: Why aren't you wearing your uniform, Aurora?

Aurora: I asked for the day off, Dad. I need to talk to both of you.

Mónica: Tell us, dear.

Oliver: Is something wrong with the surgery?

Aurora: Thank God, no, Dad. Mom will recover soon.

Oliver: And how did they perform the surgery on your mother? Oh, I see, we can pay in installments, right?

Aurora: Well... um, we need to talk about that.

Oliver: Don't worry, daughter, we'll pay however we can. I'll go see the client today to try and sell the house.

Mónica: I'm sorry for being such a burden to you.

Aurora: Don't say that, Mom. The hospital will allow us to make monthly payments, as Dad mentioned, but I'll take care of it. We won't sell the house or anything. Leave it to me. Also, I want you both to listen carefully and please respect the decision I've made.

Oliver: What's going on?

Aurora: I'm getting married tomorrow.

Oliver: But Jacob hasn't said anything to me. Anyway, I'm happy for both of you.

Aurora: It's because he won't come since I'm not marrying him.

Mónica: What are you talking about, dear?

Aurora: Please let me finish speaking, and then I'll answer your questions.

Oliver: Fine, go ahead, Aurora.

Aurora: I met a man six months ago, and we started dating. We fell in love, and I accepted his marriage proposal. He's a really good man, and the truth is, things wouldn't work out with Jacob and me.

Oliver: This is crazy. My daughter is telling me that while she was in a relationship, she had another person on the side.

Mónica: Daughter, I understand that you and Jacob were together out of gratitude and friendship, but this isn't the way to handle things. Plus, he didn't come to face the situation, and you were with him while you didn't end things with Jacob. He's a good guy and didn't deserve to be played like this.

Aurora: Please don't judge me. I already spoke with Jacob, and my fiancé couldn't come because he's currently on a business trip. But understand that I love him and want to live my life with him.

Oliver: I won't attend. I don't agree.

Aurora: That's okay, Dad. I won't force you. Just remember that I love you both, and I would do anything for you.

Aurora resigned from her job and left the hospital. She asked the driver to take her to her friend's workplace.

Sofía: Friend, what brings you here?

Aurora: Sofía, I've accepted Andrew's proposal. I ended things with Jacob and spoke to my parents. I didn't tell them the truth because I can't, but they don't approve.

Sofía: Oh, friend, I'm so sorry.

Aurora: The wedding is tomorrow. Please don't leave me alone.

Sofía: Tomorrow? Don't worry, I'll be there for you.

Aurora: One more thing, no one should find out the reasons behind my marriage or the contract. Andrew and I are supposed to have been dating for six months, and we are truly in love.

Sofía: Don't worry, friend. You know you can count on me for anything.

Aurora: Thank you, I love you.

Sofía: I love you too.

The two girls talked for a while, and then the driver took Aurora home.

Katherine: Sister, they brought some boxes for you. I took them to your bedroom.

Aurora: Thank you, little sister.

Katherine: Are you okay?

Aurora: Yes, I want to let you know that I'll be leaving the house tomorrow because I'm getting married to a man I recently met. Please be good and help our parents. I'll visit them whenever I can.

Katherine: Please don't go.

Aurora: Don't worry, little sister. Everything will be fine.

Katherine: What should I wear to your wedding?

Aurora: Well, I'm not sure if you can come because of Mom... but if Dad can go, he'll take you to get a dress. The wedding is tomorrow afternoon, so there's still time.

Now, I'll leave. I need to rest...
