Secret Spies

Haa...

A beautiful Friday morning. The sweet breeze touching my face , soothes me like a day at the spa. The glistening sun , grass that's fresh because of the sprinklers...and chemical fertilizers. OH WHO AM I EVEN KIDDING. I'm just talking like this so the day goes by fast and I can enjoy my well deserved weekend. If only every day was as smooth as today.

Announcer : "Mia Howard , Please report to the principal's office immediately. Thank you".

Mia : "Great. Just my luck when I thought today was going to be wonderful".

When I stood up I could feel the eyes on me following my every movement till I left the classroom. I almost had a panic attack with that many people staring at me as if I had committed a crime and got caught for it. Seriously I dont even know why I'm getting called into the office. I can't name any possibilities that could land me in the principal's office...

Wait. Is it because I helped my friend copy my answers during the last Biology class test? Noo right. I mean nobody saw us right. RIGHT?? Wait did Joseph see me? He didn't throw me under the bus did he??? Come on now , I didn't do something illegal. I just helped a friend. There's even a saying that goes "A friend in need , is a friend indeed". Was that even a saying?

*sweating*

Mia : *muttering under her breath* "I don't even know what's going on but here goes nothing".

When I entered the principal's office , there was this tall dude wearing a suit and a pair of cool black shades with two armed body guards staring at me INSTEAD OF MY BALD HEADED PRINCIPAL. I stood there like a statue trying to not make any movements that could get me killed. The silence broke when the tall dude started talking.

Tall Dude : "Hello Mia , glad to finally meet you. Your brother used to mention alot about you".

Mia : "Wait , wait , wait....You know my brother? And how do you know my name? Who are you guys and what are you doing here? This better not be some kind of kidnapping attempt!".

Mia : *inner voice* "I'm actually grateful towards my parents for making go for that summer time self defence class down town".

Tall Dude : "Do we look like kidnappers to you?".

Mia : "Yes you DO look like some high-class alleyway kidnappers with that dashing suit and those super cool shades. But...WHO EVEN ARE YOU?".

Tall Dude : "Right. Where are my manners-".

Mia : "I don't think you are capable of having manners. Just saying. Take it as a 'Note to Self'. You may need it for future purposes".

Tall Dude : "Uh...Thank you(?) and AS I WAS SAYING BEFORE I GOT RUDELY INTERRUPT-".

Mia : "Yeah , I'm sorry about interrupting you. You know I'm usually a person who's honest and who wouldn't mind giving people tips on what they LACK. Emphasis on 'lack'. Thats just the way I....I interrupted you again didn't I? Sh*t I'm sorry. Continue please".

Tall Dude : "Hmm. So as I was saying , my name is Ja-".

Mia : "Hold on I'm getting a call...".

Tall Dude : "AHEM Miss Howard PLEASE let me talk a full sentence. I usually give people an earful when they interrupt me. The more they interrupt the worse the situation gets. I'm going easy on you because yo-".

Mia : "Okay I'm done with the call. What were you saying?".

Tall Dude : *grits teeth* "My name is JACK ROGER. I'm the so-".

Mia : "Alright Jack get to the point on why you are here right now. Ps. you still haven't answered my questions.

HOW do you know my name and my BROTHER?".

Jack : *sigh* "I can't answer those questions. Yet. But right now I want you to come with us and then perhaps you may get the answers you are looking for".

Mia : *laughs* "Do you really think I'm coming with you guys that easily. Do you really expect me to jump on to your ride and be like "Lets go for a ride boys"? Hah. Not happening".

Jack : "I'm sorry for doing this but it's for your own good and.....Also because it's Chief's orders".

*shoots a tranquilizer/dosed dart*

Mia : "What...are...yo...u talking abo--".

*THUD* Falls onto the floor

All can remember is some red dart flying towards me and then it went black. I think it was a tranquilizer(?) I'm only making this guess because it seemed more sensible than my other option , which was actually getting shot and waking up in heaven alive.

But I had a reason to think like that. After passing out for God knows how long , I woke up in a high tech limo. The interior of it SCREAMED ✨expensive✨. So I really thought I was dead. But then I guess I passed out again....

Agent : "Mia. Wake up...MIA? MIA!".

Mia : "Wha-what. Where am I. This is definitely NOT my home or my SWEET bedroom".

Agent : "Glad you are awake now. You've been passed out for ages".

Mia : "Okaaay. I have SO many questions. WHO are you? WHAT are you? WHERE am I? WHAT is this place and WHAT IS GOING ON???".

Agent : "Yes I know this doesn't make sense but please relax and try not to make a ruckus. Everything is going to be fine and I assure you that you are safe right now. Just take a deep bre-".

Mia : "You want me to RELAX? NOW? WHEN I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE ON EARTH I AM? Seriously I dont even know who you are?".

Agent : "Oh I'm sorry. Totally forgot about the introduction part. I'm Esther Jones. I guess you can call me Agent Jones".

Mia : "Okay Agent Jones , what am I doing here exactly?".

Agent Jones : "You are here as a replacement spy for your brother. I'm sorry for your loss by the way. He talked about you and Maddie alot. He adores you both so much. I guess you three were really close".

Mia : "Hold on. Are you implying that my brother was a SPY? And NO we were not that close. I barely even talked to him because he was soo busy with his "studies" and he wasn't at home mostly and I didn't know he mentioned so much about us. This makes me miss him even more. Even though we never held a proper conversation, he was still my brother whom I looked upto".

Agent Jones : "Yes , he was also the best agent in business. He was brave , humourous and most of all a great partner. We both worked together. We were best friends. I miss him very much as well. Some people even envied him but acted polite whenever he was around. He was actually aware of that but he didn't respond to any one of them. Not even rumours or slight threats thrown against him. It's sad that he isn't here with us anymore".

Some Old Guy : "Ahh. I can see that you are awake Miss Howard. Had a good nap? I sure hope so".

Agent Jones : "Good Afternoon Sir".

Some Old Guy : "I hope you got to know Agent Jones well. I'm Chief Roger , good to see you well Mia".

Mia : "Thanks and Roger...(?) As in related to Jack Roger somehow or am I completely off?".

Chief Roger : "Ah yes , he is my son. I didn't know you already met him. That's good".

Mia : "Ooh makes sense I guess. You guys are weirdly similar. And yes me and him had the quite "friendly" introduction".

Chief Roger: "Hmm , I hope he didn't do something that offended you Miss Howard. If he did , I deeply apologize for his behaviour. Anyways Miss Howard , WELCOME TO LOS".

Mia : "LO- what? What does that even stand for? 'Lonely Officers at Stake'? *chuckles*

Chief Roger : *sigh* "No Miss Howard , it doesn't stand for 'Lonely Officers at Stake'. It stands more professionaly for 'League of Spies'. And I rather not hear any more of these "jokes" of yours. Atleast not during this moment".

Mia : "Right. I'm sorry".

Chief Roger : "Now then , I hope you know by now that we actually brought you here to recruit you to our team as a spy ".

Mia : "Yeah I know. Agent Jones here said something along those lines".

Chief Roger : "Is that so? You look very much relaxed now. Is that a sign of affirmation for recruiting you to our team Miss Howard?".

Mia : "Uh what? NO I don't agree to this plan of yours and I'm definitely not relaxed. Not even one bit. I'm scared *sh*tless* now. I'm just not showing my fear".

Chief Roger : "I'm sorry for doing this Miss Howard. You don't have much choice , we really need you. There is a mystery for YOU to solve and it's about your brother. We don't think your brother's death was any unfortunate accident. We believe that he was murdered. We don't know who would do this to your brother or what their motive is. So we need your help. And since we are mortal enemies to many anonymous gangs. We are always being watched and targeted. As you already know your brother was the most renowned agent , many targeted him. I believe without a doubt that you and your family might be in danger. They must think that you know a thing or two".

Mia : *scoffs* "You think I would comply with this "agreement" just because you said your short speech on why I'm brought here. You just made matters worse than it already was. I was doing quite FINE without knowing that many "gangs" are after me and my family for what my brother and your company did".

Chief Roger : "Miss Howard....".

Agent Jones : "Mia , please listen to him. It's dangerous for you and your family to live out there with no protection after what happened with your brother. We can protect you and your family. And you are capable of many doing things physically and mentally. You just don't know how powerful you are and how much potential you have. So please conside-".

Mia : "NO! IM NOT DOING THIS. LET ME GO".

Agent Jones : "But Mia..."

Mia : "I SAID LET ME GO. NOW!".

Chief Roger : *sigh* "Very well then but if you ever change your mind , here's our contact info. You can only reach out to us through this and this info only. So don't lose it".

Mia : "I don't think I would ever contact you but I'll keep it as a souvenir".

Chief Roger : "I'm quite disappointed that you have declined this offer. I was hoping you would understand the circumstances of this case but we can't force people into this dangerous field. I hope you think this over atleast once Miss Howard. There's more to this situation than you know. Well GUARDS , please escort Miss Howard to the exit. Thank you".

Mia : "I'll be going now. Bye. And Thank you for the...um... hospitality. Pleasure to have met you both".

Agent Jones : "...."

Mia : "Not the one with goodbyes huh? Okay then , I will just lea-".

*the guards blindfolds Mia*

Mia : "Wha-What are you doing?" *struggles* "LEAVE ME...!"

*Chief Roger walks away*

Agent Jones : "This is to protect our identities and our whereabouts. Good day Miss Howard"

*the guards push Mia into a black car*

*after a ride that seemed very long*

Mia : "Ow. Ow. Ow. Owww. Hmph...God damn y'all don't know how to handle a young woman. THIS HURTS YOU KNOW".

*the car drives away*

Mia : "Uh...guys? Guys?...Where am I now? Am I on the floor right now?".
