[5] The day we met

“I am late for work.” I looked at my clock, freaked out. “Ohh, no.”  I didn’t have enough time to shower, so I just changed my clothes. When I was done changing and brushing my teeth, I headed out of the house. “Dad is not here.” “He is probably out.”

I did not have a car or bike, so I went to the train. I am right on time. Not only that, but I was able to make it to the train. “Phew.” I wiped my sweaty face. “Made it on time.” I was gasping for air.

I grew up poor. My mother died when she gave birth to me. My father loved her very much. My father started to drink and do drugs after my mom died. He would even abuse me.

Now I am going to change it all. I am going to make tons of money. When I have enough, I’ll leave that place. I said in my mind.

“We are now here at the destination.” The train stops. When the door opened, I rushed out fast, so I could get there on time. Work starts in four minutes. I was running so fast.

“I am here now.” I was breathing so heavily. One minute late. Damn it! I went to the front desk. “Hello, who are you?” The woman stared at me. “I am Y/N, the new worker here.”  “Oh, you, go to room 4.” “Okay!” I went to room four. When I opened the door, all the people were staring at me. Why are they staring at me?

I ignored their stares and went to my desk, which has my name on it. When I looked at the people, I noticed they were wearing fancy clothing. I guess they're rich.

I work as a writer for this company. Basically, I just have to write articles about this company.

“You are Y/N, aren't you? ” The person said to me, I looked at him and nodded. “My name is Devin.” “Ohh okay.” I ignored him and focused on my work.

At 12 o'clock, it was lunch. I am putting my stuff away. I was then interrupted. “Aiko, since you are new, you want me to show you around the place.” Devin was behind me. “Sure.” I got up from my chair and we both headed out.

Devin is showing me around the place. “Here is room…” I was confused. The building is so big. “I know you are confused. Don’t worry, you will get the hang of it. ”

After he was done showing me around the place, we both went to the cafeteria to eat. We were now at the cafeteria. I didn’t bring any food with me. I gave him a gloomy expression on my face. “That’s okay. They give out free food in the cafeteria.” He cheered me up. “Most people don’t bring food because the cafeteria food is delicious.” “Ohh okay.”

After Devin and I were done getting our food, we headed to the table to eat. “It smells delicious.” My stomach is grumbling. “Aaha.” Devin is laughing at me. “What’s so funny?” I am mad. “Ohh nothing.” He changes to a poker face.

“I need to use the restroom.” I got up. “The restroom is at the far right in the cafeteria.” “Thank you.” I am in a hurry. While walking towards the restroom, I bumped into someone. The guy was tall, so I looked up. He is a beautiful man. My eyes were glowing. “I’m sorry!” I kept on bowing my head to him. Everyone stared at us. Why though? When I was done apologizing to him, I headed to the restroom.

A/N: That's how Aiden and Aiko first met. I won't go into further details of what happened to them after that. I want to focus on them in the present.
