Episode 14

Demir decided to visit his parents' home since it had been a while since he last saw them. Their house was set a fair distance from the city, so it took him hours to get there, but he finally arrived to a warm welcome from his mother, who cheerfully opened the door and ushered him inside. Stepping into his childhood home flooded him with memories, like the familiar scent of cooking that filled the house, his mother's exquisite cuisine. His mother invited him to sit down while she went to fetch his father from the library.

Upon learning of his son's surprise visit, his father was overjoyed, as they hadn't seen each other for quite some time. He rushed to the kitchen where Demir was making short work of a sandwich his mother had saved in the refrigerator.

"Demir," his father called.

"Dad!" Demir exclaimed, smiling broadly as he quickly moved forward to embrace him. After a long hug, his father gestured towards the table, indicating for him to sit down.

"Dad, I've missed you all so much; I've missed this house terribly."

"Son, you know you're always welcome here. Your mother and I were thinking, as quiet as it is living here, maybe we could get an apartment in the city so we could spend more time together," his father suggested while sipping his tea.

"Dad, this is the best place for you; the city is chaotic and there’s too much danger. I couldn’t forgive myself if something happened to you there."

"What could happen, son? Besides, it’s very lonely for your mother and me here."

"Yes, I understand, but I'm scared of what could happen in the city."

"You shouldn't worry about what happened to your sister. You know, perhaps it was fate; I just wish they hadn’t been so cruel to her because she was an angel and didn’t deserve all that hate, that evil," his father said, tears welling up in his eyes.

Demir took his father's hand.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect my sister, Dad. I wish I had been there for her, but I failed, and it’s something that will haunt me forever."

"Son, don't feel guilty about this. Maybe this world wasn't meant for someone as bright as her. Once more, we witness the kind of monsters that exist in this world."

"Alright, Dad, I'd rather not talk about this anymore. It really upsets me."

"Okay, son, let's change the subject."

His father stood up from the chair and reached for a card on top of the fridge.

"I don't know if I've told you, but in two weeks your cousin is getting married, and we're invited, and so are you. I hope you won't miss it," his father said, as he handed the card to Demir.

"Wow, that's great news! I never thought that crazy guy would settle down. Of course, I'll be there; I'm so happy for him," Demir said, in a noticeably lighter mood, genuinely uplifted by the news.

After a wonderful family day, Demir decided to stay overnight at his parents and planned to leave after lunch the next day.

When it was time to leave, Demir said his goodbyes to his parents and climbed into his car, ready to head back to the city.

Meanwhile, Santiago was plotting Larissa's grand comeback.

Santiago met up with Larissa in the morning and invited her for a coffee, which she accepted with pleasure.

"This is a beautiful place," said Larissa.

"Yes, it's nice, but not as beautiful as you."

Blushing, Larissa tried to avert her gaze, but Santiago took her hand.

"Don't be embarrassed. I don't think I've told you, but I'm really in love with you, and I'd like us to try a relationship," Santiago said, looking intently into her eyes.

"You mean a lot to me, I've told you, but I don't want to hurt you."

"You'll never hurt me," Santiago said, standing up, leaning closer, and catching her eyes, and before she knew it, Santiago kissed Larissa. Larissa tried to enjoy the moment, which was unexpectedly pleasant and free from the fear she had anticipated. Santiago finally pulled away.

"I love you, Larissa," he said, settling back into his seat.

Larissa, at a loss for words, managed to say, "I think I might too! And I might be willing to try with you, but you need to understand my situation and that it might take me longer than other girls to be 'normal'."

"I will wait for you, Larissa. I know we can overcome this together," he assured her.

"I hope so, Santiago. I will try because I want our relationship to work," she said.

After their lengthy conversation, Santiago took Larissa back to her apartment and began making calls to set up her concerts.
