Episode 4

My name is Iddo Verro, I am the head of one of the clans that make up the mafia in Italy. I am 36 years old. I hide this whole business behind the facade of a company dealing in cars, technology, and the sale of elite horses. A bit of everything to make money laundering easier by having more markets to operate in.

A few months ago, I started doing business with Vicenzo Leggio and Giuseppe Graviano: a few tons of cocaine that we need to distribute and put into circulation, and a rather large shipment of weapons that must enter the black market for sale.

That's where I was headed today. Vicenzo has a very remote estate, with several hectares, which makes it easier to hide such merchandise; he has a lot of land where he dedicates himself to sowing and cultivating, and I think animals, or at least that's what I thought I saw on the way. He's not a guy I know very well; he seems like a rather cold, serious person, and at least when it comes to business, he's meticulous. I don't know much about his life, only that he has a wife and children, and nothing more. We hide all this under the facade of horses; we prepare and sell them for both racetrack racing and for elite polo players.

Graviano and I arrived almost at the same time. I know him a bit better; I've done business with him before, so there are no problems in that regard. As a person, I have to say we are polar opposites. We greeted each other and went in. As we passed, the housekeeper received us, and we went into the office where Vicenzo was waiting for us. We greeted each other, and he offered us something to drink. I chose coffee; I like things serious when it comes to business.

When the drinks arrived, Vicenzo exploded because the young woman bringing the tray forgot some ice. For a few ice cubes, he almost gouged her eyes out. I felt sorry for the poor girl and came to her defense, only because the situation made me uncomfortable, to say the least. The girl didn't know where to hide; I swear she was trembling like a sheet hung out on a windy day. I knew the guy was to be feared, but I didn't think his workers suffered so much from him.

The girl left and came back in as if she already had the ice waiting for her at the door; she wasn't gone long at all. Was her fear that great?

I didn't get a good look at her; she stayed behind the whole time, her head down, her voice barely audible for what was necessary and nothing more. Something tells me she's not going to have a good time once we leave.

The meeting continued without further incident. As we were leaving, I thought I saw her in the garden near a tomato patch, but to be honest, I wasn't sure since I never got a good look at her.

The business was just beginning, and I would have time to return to this place. I was saying goodbye to Graviano when he suggested going to a bar for some girls. I didn't really feel like it, but the night was young, and so was I, so I accepted.

Once at the bar, it didn't take us long to find companions. I ended my night in a hotel with a well-curved blonde.

Upon returning to my house, I found that Cosimo, my friend and right-hand man, was there. Carmina, my housekeeper, had already prepared his room. Without further ado, I headed to mine to rest for what was left of the night.

The next day, I got a call from Vicenzo informing me that one of the shipments had arrived, and he wanted us all to conduct the tests together to avoid problems. I gave him the okay and prepared to head to the place again.
