Backstory

The Bacola Empire was one of the most successful rule humanity had ever seen. There were major breakthroughs for humanity and it was a period of unhindered growth. Under Emperor Raxle, humanity had entered the golden growth era. Raxle was the first emperor of unified territory of humanity. But as all good things come to an end, the successor were not as powerful as Raxle and the accidental discovery of the demon realm triggered their eventual downfall.

When the demon realm was discovered, the humans were excited for the potential of a new world full of resources was unrivalled. Even if the risks were high, the benefits were higher. With the main focus on higher benefits, then Emperor Rimalus led countless human troops to scout the area. But no one knew back then what series of disastrous events it would trigger.

The force of humanity which was led to initially scout the area was a major 150,000 elite troops. These troops ventured into the demon realms but never returned. A rescue group with 500,000 elite soldiers followed them after a month of waiting. And when even these troops didn't return after three months, the empire was already running low on the elite troops. They even let the imperial guard join in to make a last ditch effort to rescue the elite soldiers or at least get an idea as to what happened or what danger they encountered. They managed to put together a 150,000 soldiers team to secure information about what happened in the demon realm.

This didn't work well either but at least a dozen people escaped from the demon realm. They encountered a demonic monster which could be regarded as a giant octopus but it's appearance was more in-line with that of a giant squid. And the soldiers were wiped out fighting that creature. A terrifying creature which could wipe out elite human soldiers was only the weakest demonic beast.

The soldiers who returned were treated as heroes. But the Empire was already lacking in elite soldiers. Emperor Regius who succeeded Emperor Rimalus did his best to manage the empire which was lacking it's previous strength.

Each generation of emperor tried to bring back the strength of the Empire to what it was during it's glory days under Emperor Raxle. It was impossible originally but due to the discovery of the immortal realm, it was made possible.

The immortal world just like the demon realm was a great opportunity but humanity had learnt a bitter lesson with the losses they suffered during the exploration of the demon realm.

This time, Emperor Regius only sent a small force of 10 elite soldiers to scout the Immortal realm. And they were promised huge benefits for the high risks associated. The benefits received made the risks well worth their lives.

This time god seemed to bless humanity. For humans encounter humans in the immortal realms. They were all humans except for the fact that these humans had supernatural abilities and magic. The immortal realm was a boon to humanity, the reason why it came to be known as the immortal realm was because the magical abilities as well as the supernatural environment, made it possible for people to live unnaturally long lives.

The super humans from that realm later came to be known as sorcerers, magicians or cultivator. Later even more classifications were made.

These people were also curious about humans and they also liked being worshipped by these ordinary people. They began to take disciples or teach the normal humans about the supernatural. Humanity became much stronger then. Also as the immortal realm was small, the super humans wanted to expand out and the normal humans were cooperative to allow to gain more knowledge about the supernatural.

The more powerful humanity grew, the more influence the super human sects, cults and organizations begin to have. Some large school or sects became on par with the imperial family. The XVI Emperor, Raen wanted to limit the influence these super human sects had as they were directly competing against the empire for power.

Raen trained more diligently than any other emperor so far, also training his own troops. He trained not only in imperial affairs but swordmanship and cultivation of magical abilities as well.

The Bacola Empire was built on top of the already existing ancient royal family of Bacola. The unrivalled super power with more than 6000 years of history was the stepping stone of the unified Bacola Empire. The Royal Family of Bacola had produced several top-notch geniuses in history and was unrivalled. Even in supernatural abilities which were alien to humans, the royal bloodline of the Bacola family was unrivalled. Everyone possessed the talent which surpassed even the geniuses from the Immortal realm. The Bacola Imperial Family was only able to resist the influence of the super humans due to this.

Even among all the geniuses produced by the Bacola Family, Emperor XIV Raen was unparalleled. He was a genius in every field. He feared that the power of the imperial family would be affected by the super human sects and schools if they continued to grow as they have.

So he purposed leaked the information about the demon realm and garnared support from the sects to explore the demon realm. Raen led the exploration team with 150 elite imperial troops which he had diligently trained himself and other 10,000 elite troops trained by other trainers and instructors. The super human sects lent their strongest disciples and 90% of their strength to take over the demon realm.

A month after, a weird dimensional vortex split open. It was when the three realms, the demon, the immortal and the normal where humans lived collapsed together to form one realm. The maps became useless as all the realms merged together. The land became vast. The lands were taken over by demonic beasts which culled the population of humanity. Not only that but monsters from the Immortal realm also wrecked havoc. Lots of lives were lost as a result.

The people inside the realms were transported to separate places and some directly died when they were sent to the dimensional vortex.

The only people who survived were Emperor Raen and his 150 elite troops who came back hoarding what seemed endless treasures with them. A large part was kept for the empire while the remaining was equally distributed to the super natural sects to pacify the loss of their talents. Some sects were destroyed by the dimensional vortex, those treasures were kept by the imperial family. While it was a mess, Raen took over the imperial family and brought an end to the chaos.

But Raen had changed when he found several demonic treasures. The demonic swords granted him unparalleled strength making him undefeatable. He became merciless by the day. Eliminating all potential threats and only spending time polishing his demon sword. The higher the class a treasure is, the more powerful it is. In fact, some possess a spirit entity or even a sealed existence in them which can affect the wielder overtime and even completely take over the personality. Raen was Raen no more, he was taken over by the entity Essagan sealed inside the demon sword of the same name.

Essagan was an emperor level existence, it would dominate everything except the Rea, which was another demon sword. There were multiple demon swords. Essagan had a male entity sealed within while Rea was a female entity. The female entity was also an emperor level existence but it was more powerful because it could also heal the wielder's wounds and injuries for every life it slashed away.

Among the countless treasures hoarded by the Imperial family, there were seven other demon swords. It was a known fact that one person unless he is accepted or acknowledged by the spirit weapons or treasures couldn't use it. This applied even more to the emperor level treasure which were far superior to spirit grade treasures.

Emperor XIV, Raen had already choosen Essagan and this naturally made him scare away the other demonic swords. Raen himself was obsessed with Essagan. He spent hour after hour polishing the blade with blood of criminals as well as monsters and demon beasts. Raen had already lost his mind and was already a shell of his former self.

If the emperor is like that, the other also took advantage to pillage, kill and loot. The empire was already on the brink of destruction. The emperor took no action and turned a blind eyes to the suffering of the people while he just sat on his throne polishing his sword.

Raen had a son with his wife, Empress Safina. Empress Safina was very perceptive, even among her peers. Raen had only one official wife, the Empress Safina. He had a concubine who he had sent far away to not affect the inheritance. Empress Safina had already noticed the changes when he returned from the expendition. She was afraid, she felt that it was somebody else with Raen's looks. She was even more horrified that, that somebody wasn't even human.

She hoped to escape from the Imperial Castle with her son. But a riot broke out in the capital that day and a coup was to take place. Unfortunately, the rioters caught a hold of Empress Safina as she was trying to flee the castle. She lost her life and at her last breath she called out to her husband, the emperor XVI, Raen.

That night, the entire capital was engulfed in flames. The sky turned red and there was smoke everywhere. The emperor had fused with Essagan, his discomfort at losing his wife resonated with Essagan who called forth the true entity sealed within it. It was Bahamut one of the mightiest evil dragons to have ever existed.

Demon Sword Easagan was only a demon sword to host the soul of the Evil Dragon Bahamut. It had fed on the emotions of Emperor Raen but his last bit of consciousness felt despair when he couldn't protect his wife. And that is what resonated with the soul of Bahamut unleashing all the agony felt by Raen on the capital. The entire captial was charred black that night. The royal Bacola bloodline was lost that day. The son and heir to the throne has been missing ever since. No one knows if he is even alive. That wasn't the only setback to humanity, the appearance of a superior being like Bahamut caused the lower level organisms like demon beasts and monsters to panic causing them to run berserk. The next couple of years that followed culled the population to tenth of a fraction of what it initially was before the fall of the Bacola Empire. Humans were pushed into corners to survive among ferocious monsters and dangerous demonic beasts.

But people have been trying to track down the bloodline and the extreme loyalist faction has been trying to revive the Bacola empire fighting back against the current Salvius Kingdom. The Salvius Family was a mere third rate family under the Bacola Empire but it rose to fame after the downfall of the Bacola Empire. The Bacola Empire was split into small territories. Even so, the loyalists are working hard to find the bloodline and heirs of the Bacola bloodline to revive the Empire and ultimately, regain humanity's strength. While the Salvius Kingdom carries major influence, it's in no way anywhere near to the level of Bacola Empire. While everyone despises Emperor XVI Raen but they can't help but admire his peerless-ness. When only he returned alongside his trained elite soldiers and took control of the chaos. Even if they don't want to admit it, they wish that the Emperor's heir could be found and that he managed to survive the fire in the capital.
