Some Past Memories

How today’s meeting will end up. Will Sean notice me? He wasn’t like that before I still remember how kind and generous he was back than. He would take notice of every single thing around him. Who ever needed help he always said yes. It was kind of cute too. One time I even made it up that I got hurt and he helped me and dropped me home. But now he feel so distant. Moly says it’s my illusion, he is still the same it’s just we are grownups now everyone changes a little. I am becoming curious day by day it’s me or something else. What is making him so silent and distant?

if I could say he has perfect life. A happy family, loving and caring parents. A kind and cute sister Sheri. It’s so easy to see how they love and care about each other. He is intelligent and top of his class student. I don’t know what makes him so sad and quite.

Oh it’s drive me crazy sometimes why I am so dumb. I can’t even figure out what troubles he have. Why I am so opposite of him in every single thing. What if he really hates me deep down in his heart and pretend to be normal in front of me for the sake of our childhood friendship. Actually that’s the reason that I never even try to confess my feelings to him. Because I kind of know that he will say no.

Well if we knew you are waiting for us we would have left home early. We brought some snacks and drinks to just for the courtesy and than Moly whispered in Zeen’s ear “be confident”.

I am doing good how are you it’s so nice to see you Moly. Hey Zeen how are you doing and they both hugged.

Hey guys you have never met my cousin Joan. He is in military he came over in holidays here. And it’s Sean as you guys already know him.

Sean looked up for a minute and said hi to both of them and he again start working on his computer.

Aaron looked at us and than toward Sean and he said, common man we are here to have fun after such long time all of us are together.

Not me. I see them every day. How about you go ahead and have some fun chatting. I need 20 more minutes to finish this assignment.

If I know I would made it 6:30 or 7 O’Clock man so you wouldn’t be that busy now.

Leave him Aaron. He is always like that his studies are more important than his friends. Moly said.

Joan looked at Moly and said so what you do.

I mean we both are students. We don’t have any jobs like you do. We are just enjoying our winter break.

Well so you do something, being student is also no easy.

Yeah sure. This fall semester was so boring and hard we both take twelve units most of the time we were busy writing essays and working on presentations.

Yes it is really hard specially for average students like you. Sean replied.

We wish we were as smart as you are in studies we would be helpful to so many people around us. Moly replied.

You wish. I already helped you so many times look how ungrateful you are. Sean replied while putting his computer away.

You can do better than that we know. If you are not busy avoiding us all the time. Moly said.

Well unfortunately I am not that free as you two. I have a lot of responsibility and my studies. Sean replied.

Ok guys stop bickering we are here to have fun. Let’s talk about some old and new stuff. I was away for such a long time. I was only in touch with Sean so tell me all what you guys did what your plans are in future. Aaron said.

I have joined the arts school I am gonna learn a lot of new things gonna make new friends. It will be so fun. Sherry said.

And you Zeen what’s your plans.

Oh me yeah I am gonna just finish my bachelor’s degree and find a good job that’s it.

Hmm can’t you be a little ambiguous why not say you gonna do what ever Moly gonna do just going to follow her like a baby. Common grow up a litttle. Sean said.

At this moment Zeen felt so embarrassed that everyone felt that in the room.

You are so decent to Sean. Say something rude to him tell him it’s none of your business. Aron said while he was trying to light the situation.

But Zeen said it’s ok. I don’t mind.

This make the situation lighter. At this moment suddenly Moly asked Joan what do you like Mr. Joan do you have a girlfriend.

Not yet but I like confident and sensible people. Joan replied.

Oh I mean. Before she finished her sentence Joan said yes I am single. I have been busy finishing my civil engineering degree. I have one more year left than I will get promotion and hope a good life partner too. With this answer Moly got embarrassed she try to explain her self well I was just trying to make a conversation while everyone was smiling while looking at her she got a little angry. Joan without hesitating continued the conversation and said, how about you. Do you have a boyfriend.

Haha. Moly laughed and said no I am also busy in my studies you know. I don’t have time for those things.

Good to know. Joan said.

Shery whispered in Moly’s ear I think he is interested in you. He usually don’t talk like that.

Who cares. Moly looked at Joan and give a mean smile and she start talking with shery about old days.

I was left alone I didn’t know what to do. So I peek toward where Sean and Aaron was preparing drinks. To my embarrassment they both looked at me at the same time. Sean was seriouse but Aaron gave a gentle smile. I also smiled a little but next thing I saw Sean was looking at Aaron while he was smiling toward me. I got so puzzled and flushed. What the hell is going on I don’t understand the situation I looked at Moly she was so happy and busy talking with shery. Wao she totally forgot she came with me at least sometimes look at me what I am going through. I looked at Joan he was looking at Moly interestingly and than he looked at me and asked are you ok.

Yeah I am fine. Zeen said.

You don’t look comfortable. Joan said

Oh she is still the same she was when we were kids shy and sweet all the time. Aaron said while handling the drinks to shery and Moly.

Well she didn’t grew up can’t you see she is still a kid. Sean said while handing the drinks to Joan and me. When he was handing the drinks to me he looked directly in my eyes. I felt so cold to my bones and my heart suddenly beating fast. I tried to take the glass from him and try to avoid looking in his eyes my hand touched his hand and drink fell down from my hand.

Hey Sean stop making fun of her. Moly shouted.

I said I am sorry. Sean said it’s ok and he sit down to pick the drink he was so close to me. He was sitting in a position like he is proposing to me but he was mad and he said well it’s not me she dropped the drink and I am not making fun of her. Be careful ok

I said sorry again and left for the restroom. I start crying I was so embarrassed. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me. We know each other from childhood but we are so distant. I even can’t talk with him. Why I feel like that. Is it me or it’s him who makes the situation so complicated. It must be me. Everything is wrong with me I deserve to be treated like that. I don’t know how much he hates me because of this. I don’t know what’s happening outside everybody must be blaming him for making me nervous and he would be feeling more frustrated.

Zeen hey Zeen are you alright. Moly knocked at the bathroom door.

Yeah I am fine. Everything is fine I just needed to use the bathroom. I am almost done. I will be out in a minute.

Ok. Just breath Zeen it was almost three weeks I didn’t see him. May be I was too much missing him even though it doesn’t make any sense may be I was hoping he will be happy when he sees us but I only see him sad and mad for no reason and he was extra mean today. I don’t know what I did wrong or he is trouble over something. I don’t know why is he so serious about his studies otherwise who takes class in winter break. It’s hardly 21 days to take the time out so we can start fresh for spring semester. I wish I could ask him all those questions. Hmmm. I should be more relaxed or it least act like one I don’t want to destroy the evening. Breath Zeen breath. I think Now I am ready to go out.

Hey how are you feeling now. Aaron asked.

Oh I am okay it’s nothing I just needed to use the restroom.

Oh ok than I thought it’s because of Sean you know sometimes he becomes so mean but doesn’t meant it.

I know thank you for asking. Here is your drink and we ordered some pizza too. Aron handed over the drink to me and said we made him to make another one for you thank goodness it fell on floor not on your clothes.

Moly held my hands in her hands she looked at me with curiosity and I smiled so she know I am doing fine. We all talked with each other eat some pizza and everyone made a plan to meet at Sean’s father’s beach house on weekend because everyone wanted to have some more fun before winter break ends. They plan to make some barbecue and stuff like that. Everyone seemed happy but Sean wasn’t. He was just listening and answering yes or no only.

Joan was unusually interested in Moly and Moly was trying her best to ignore him.

Moly was right Aaron’s most focuse was on me all that time he was asking me questions here and there to Make a conversation but my focus was on Sean. It was almost 9 o’clock Moly said. We think we should be Leaving now.

Well we will be leaving early so be ready on Saturday at 6 am ok. Aron said.

That’s too early shery said can we leave at nine.

Well if we were staying overnight than it would be ok but we only going for one day. We have to come back before night so we should be early. Aron said.

But it’s too cold in the morning. Moly said.

Sean is the one who is not agreeing to staying overnight. If we can go there for one night and two days we can have a lot of fun and you girls can do some shopping. Aaron said.

Well I can quit going and you can have all the fun you want. Sean said.

Stop saying that dude we have only this winter break. We talked about it in the phone too remember to have all this fun with everyone and Joan is also here he is leaving next week there is no other time. I don’t know when we will see him again. And think about shery she is also leaving for her art school. Aaron said

Yeah this winter was unusually boring we deserve this break. Zeen was also so board right Zeen. Moly said.

Yeah you guys are lucky. I am alone at home most of the time last week even moly was out with her family for Christmas. My mom is so busy too busy season so I didn’t get any chance this year. Zeen said

Ok let’s see what I can do. Sean said.

Oh yeah Sean we gonna make this vacation the best.

Guys we are getting late. Zeen said.

While we were leaving Sean gets up and said let me drop you guys it’s dark outside now. Oh thank you it get scary a little around this time better to be safe than sorry. I am coming too Aaron said.

In the way Aaron keep talking with me about my studies and planning for next week. He was all out like we gonna do this and that Moly and Sean were quietly walking behind us. That was an unusual silence. May be it’s me or something happened that I am not aware of first they dropped me and they we’re going drop Moly next. By guys have goodnight.

Mom was home I told her about our meeting she was happy that I was having fun. I go to bed thinking about what happened all day. It was a very long day and May be a good one.
