Phone call

Another day has passed, I'm writing on my desk when the phone rings so loud that alert the attention of everybody inside the room, my phone seldom rung. I grabbed it excitedly.

Hello, what's new? I asked to the person on the other line. It was Jerry calling me about the script.

How are you doing Tara darling. I have a good news to you. Producers love your story. You have to come over and talk about your pay. He said happily.

That's a good news indeed. I will visit you tomorrow early in the morning.

Why don't you come over today. It's only 3, I will be at the office until 5. What do you think? Should I wait for you?

I'm not ready Jerry, I haven't even showered. I explainex to him.

I will wait, the producers are here. Tomorrow    they will not be around, today is the best time.

I put down the phone and started to prepare myself. After showering I asked my brother to drive me to Jerry's office. He agreed, grabbed his keys and went to the car even Andrei wants to come too, they stayed too much at home, they long for human interaction.

I'm curious what your working place look like Tara, Andrei said. They are wearing casual clothes since I'm just wearing Tshirt and long jeans. We entered a big building . The place is grand and well decorated, the entirety of the building leaves quite an empression to visitors new at this place. Celebreties are around as well making Andrei and Drake stunned with delight. I opened the door at Jerry's office, Lisa one of the rising star of her generation greeted me.

Tara youre here, I heard you are doing a new project with Boss Jerry. Don't forget to include me, she gave me a kiss and she accompany me towards Jerry's office.

Drake is coughing lightly so I would introduce them with Lisa.

Talent roles is decided by Jerry. I just deliver the story, get my pay then that's it for me.

Nice to meet you, do you want to come inside my office. We talk some other time Lisa. Jerry sent Lisa away. She should not be around the meeting in case Jerry is betting for another actress to do the role of the leading lady. She smiled at us widely sliding her way to get a role on my story.

Inside Jerry's office are 2 person waiting for me. Anabelle Diaz an old rich woman, who already produced alot of blockbuster movies and Roberta Marquez her friend. These two produced hundreds of movies and concerts earning millions on this industry. Andrei and Drake stayed in front of the door.

Maybe we can stay outside and meet other artist in the building Drake said, feeling awkward meeting the people inside Jerry's office.

Yes that would be better, you will not get lost, the building is not bigger than the mall. Jerry agreed.

No, Jerry I want them to be part of the movie, I'm hoping that my brother and his friend can get a role on this movie, they are currently unemployed right now so hopefully this movie can help.

I can't promise you that. We are not sure about the income yet but we are sure about the expenses. We estimated 20 Million budget for this, 2 M for you, 2 M for Jerry, the rest will go to talents and sets and costumes. This movie is going to be big, with big casts    We can't add more money in the line. Anabelle explained to me.

This is the biggest project I will be doing, I see a big future of it. 3 M is not so big, I'm sure you can extend another million on your budget.

Honey, we already worked together 2 Million is your talent fee we didn't expect you will ask for more. How about, if we happened to have extra money after the taping then we will give it all to you. But we place on the contract 2 million, the extra money is just a bonus. Roberta suggest.

I can't take it I'm sorry, I see big things on this project I can't believe Jerry is not asking for a raise, but for me I want it 3, if not i will sell the story to somebody else.

Ms. Anabelle you are earning millions on my works. I only get small portion of it. Don't throw me that money shade coz you get more money on every story I make. I deserve a raise if I don't get it to this movie then I will give it to somebody else.

The argument is heating up so Jerry came in the middle. Hold it ladies, how about I look for more investor on this movie so I can get a raise too. Let's talk again some other time when I get another investor so we all get what we want.

My brother suddenly butt in.    I want to invest, we can put in another 10 Million, me and my buddy here Andrei is planning on investing to a business so I think this is it. How about we buy the other 30% of the rights. That would be 30 % to the two ladies then the other 10% will be divided to Jerry and Tara. How about that, Drake proposed.

That's better, though our income will be cut smaller. But this way we can cater to Tara's concern and we can give bonus to Jerry too. Roberta agreed.

If it's ok to Roberta then I will agree on this. Anabelle finally get pacified with the suggestion of Drake. I'm actually amazed Drake brought himself up for this matter.

Then problem is solved, me and Tara will get a bonus, I am happy how this meeting went, I didn't expect it but I'm happy about it. I will call all parties on the signing of contract, by then I will present the lead roles as well. Give me a week. Ready your money. I will call you again. Have a nice day!. I kissed the two ladies good bye so is Jerry then left the building with 2 good looking bodyguards behind me.

 At the car we are all silent, I looked at my brother amazed by his courage,    I'm so shocked you got yourself involved on this.

Yeah, my knees are shaking for all the money you are talking about, I'm scared you put my money as well. I'm not even sure yet if its a good thing. Andrei finally break his silence.

Our money will surely grow, imagine their face when Tara said she will give her story to somebody else. They get so mad, they can't believe Tara can reject them. They want your story so much. I am so amazed how Tara talked to this old people. You never used this tone to me. Drake said with a smirk. Imagine I was begging for 250 000 cut on my previous company while Tara here just ask for a million so easily she didn't even falter. They are the ones shaking in front of you begging you to give them your story.

I know, so you better give me more respect since I'm richer than you. I answered Drake.

You get millions on just one story you write. Wow that's big. I thought your writing is not so serious. Like 50k a month or something. Andrei is drowning over the digits of my salary. Since he can never see on my image the money I'm earning.

I can make plenty of stories a year but 2 or 3 can only be movies. Some other stories are trashed most of the time. I answered this way, I'm not a person to boast over my money and besides my money is sometimes my brothers money as well. We help provide to our parents back to the province. They are building our dream castle back there. Drake holds most of Tara's money for investment.

You don't look like a millionaire Tara, You earned so much of my respect today, Andrei reached on me and pet me on my head just like my brother usually do. I wagged his hand away politely enough for him to understand that I don't like it.

Yeah whatever, now you should understand when I'm lazying around the house. Don't order me around. I told them.

Should we celebrate today? Drake suggested.

We shouted in agreement, Yes!

We passed by the convenient store to buy some food and alcohol. We drink and dance at home. We made a good deal today.

My brother is so happy, We are going to be rich soon! he claimed. Soon he is down with all the alcohol he took.

Andrei brought him to his bed. He went back to the kitchen to help me clean our mess. He is drunk as well laughing and smiling weirdly. I dont like to stay on the kitchen with him. Even so I feel this way I need to leave politely.

I think we better do this tommorrow morning, I suggested.

He continue cleaning even though I told him not to do it that night, he just smile at me. Go to sleep Tara, I can do this myself, he sent me away sincerely.

I'm about to leave him alone when I heard something breaks. I turned around, I saw drops of blood on the floor. I came closer to removed Andrei on that place. I sit him on the sofa while I clean the broken pieces of glass.

I told you, we better do it tomorrow when we are more sober. I lectured Andrei then clean his wound. I can smell his alcoholic breath in an arm distance, he smiled at me drunkly.

It's nothing. It doesn't even hurt, he said. I asked him to stay still since he is scattering the blood as he walk around. It feels awkward touching his warm skin. His bare legs are so muscular. I get to observe them while I kneel, putting his bandages on his wounded foot.

You better sleep and take some rest Andrei.

Let me help you go to your room. I offered sincerely.

I will just stay here at the couch for the night. Drake covers the whole bed, and he is a hugger, you know.

Then    let me get you a pillow and a blanket. I went back for his pillow and blanket, I helped him be comfortable then say, Good night. Don't worry about the dishes, I will do it tomorrow.

Alright, goodnight! He answered sleepily.

It is so weird to live in a house with men around especially Andrei is not my brother. Sexual tension is always there. Maybe Andrei treat me like a sister, but me I feel awkward around him.
