Episode 4

"Please have a seat, Miss Wilson," he asked as I closed the office door. I did as he said and sat in front of him. "Now then, I apologize for what happened earlier in the bathroom and for the words I said about your appearance," he stared at me intensely, causing nerves to rise in the pit of my stomach. "But I appreciate honesty, Miss Wilson. Your previous attire was not suitable for working in my company, and you look much better without makeup," I swallowed hard. "Forgive me for asking something so personal, but didn't you look at yourself in the mirror before leaving your house?" I had the faint impression that he was suppressing a smile. "Don't take it the wrong way, but I am a highly important fashion designer in the industry; I cannot afford to have an employee who not only works for me but also gives a bad image to my company. Do you understand, Miss Wilson?"

"I understand perfectly, Mr. Cooper. Believe me, my intention is not to tarnish your company with my appearance; I am fully aware of your importance," I smiled wryly. "What I do not allow, and what goes beyond professionalism, are insults. There are ways to say things without needing to be so..." I raised an eyebrow and bit my lower lip.

"So what?" he whispered.

"So rude, Mr. Cooper. That's the word," he chuckled lightly, adjusting his tie.

"Good. Shall we start over then?" I nodded, feeling slightly relieved. I thought he would continue mocking me or bring up the issue of my flat chest. "In a week, we are launching our thirtieth collection for plus-size women, which means you need to accompany me to the event. Both you and the other assistants will be in charge of overseeing each of the models, ensuring that nothing goes wrong. All expenses are covered, including your round-trip flight ticket. Remember to go with Mariela for her to take your measurements for the dress you'll be wearing that day. I will ask you to be punctual at the airport, where you'll be traveling with the other employees who will attend the hotel. The hotel is also fully paid for, and you have a three-day stay there. It will be a long weekend, and I hope to count on your good performance, Miss Wilson."

"Of course, Mr. Cooper. I won't let you down. I'll do an excellent job," I smiled.

"I hope so," he stood up and walked towards a stack of papers on a desk next to his. "For now, organize each document by date."

I wiped the smile off my face, and a malicious one spread across his.

"Yes, sir," I got up and walked towards him. "By date."

He nodded, and I started organizing each piece of paper. This man is too disorganized. How does he manage to find any document he needs urgently? I suppose I'll have to use the same method I used at the production company, so that no document gets lost. As I organized paper by paper in each of the marked folders, the heat overwhelmed me. Taking off my vest and rolling up my blouse sleeves to my elbows, I sat on the floor for more comfort. I was so engrossed that I forgot I was in my boss's office.

"Miss Wilson, what are you doing there?" I jumped at the sound of his voice. "Why don't you take a seat in one of the chairs?"

I looked around, and indeed, I was in another uncomfortable position once again. In addition to Gabriela and Mr. Cooper, seeing me as a weirdo.

"I'm sorry, I didn't notice the chairs," I tugged my skirt to stand up. "I was too focused."

"We noticed that," Gabriela smiled, and embarrassment spread across my face. "I just came to say goodbye, Jane. I left my phone number on your desk in case you need help with anything. You can call me anytime, well, except at night."

I watched as Mr. Cooper stared at Gabriela. His green eyes lit up when he saw her charming smile. Does the boss like Gabriela? I wondered. Gabriela hugged me and left the office, giving the man a quick hug. The discomfort was more than evident on their faces.

"Miss Wilson, you may leave my office. Tomorrow you're done with it," the man suddenly regained seriousness.

"Yes, of course. I wish you a good night, Mr. Cooper," I picked up the vest from my hands and he stared at me. "See you tomorrow."

"Until tomorrow," he murmured, and I left the office with trembling legs. His gaze was too intense.

As soon as I arrived at the apartment, I changed and became myself again. It's not that I don't like wearing dresses, it's just that in the countryside, comfortable clothes are more appropriate. My sister has work tonight, which means it's my turn to take care of my chubby and handsome nephew. After heating his vegetable cream, I dedicated myself to feeding him. I would like to be a mother in the future. My dreams plummeted when I found out about Connor's betrayal. All his promises turned into fleeting illusions that he destroyed in a split second. He was my first love, the one I admired from afar, and just by looking at him, my stomach was overwhelmed with emotions. I still remember our first kiss and how poorly I did it, but his lips taught mine.

"Why am I thinking about that? If I keep going like this, I'll fall back into depression," I planted a loud kiss on Martin's cheek and picked him up to change his clothes. "Every day you're getting bigger, my little treasure. If I don't get married, I'll stay with you, my chubby one."

The baby giggled at my words, and I laughed. My siblings have been a great help since I left my parents' house because they desperately wanted to see me married to Connor, even knowing he had cheated on me. If it weren't for them and this chubby little chick, I wouldn't be a happy and strong woman now.
