Episode 2

A New Beginning

After crossing the portal, I arrived at a place unknown to me. It seems it's already night time.

There is a lot of noise; I believe this is the land of humans. I scanned the place with my eyes, and all I see is forest. Therefore, I decide to move forward, and after a while, I reached a place that looks like a street.

"Miss, what are you doing alone at this hour? Are you lost?" someone asks me in a kind voice, seeing me wandering around.

I turned to see who it is, and I see a sweet old lady.

"Well, let's just say I'm a little lost," I say with shame.

"Oh, I see you are not from around here, and by your scent, I know you're not human," says the kind lady.

"Uh... I... well, the thing is..." I try to speak, but the lady doesn't let me finish what I'm going to say.

"Child, I may be old, but I'm not blind. Besides, I'm an old witch and can see that you are weak and need to heal many wounds," she says, and such a thing takes me by surprise.

"No, ma'am, it's better if I go..." I say and feel my body contract from the wounds that haven't fully healed yet. My body falls to the cold ground, and little by little, darkness envelops me.

I don't know how long I've been passed out when I feel my body numb. Upon opening my eyes, I see the same lady.

"Girl, you are awake…" Those were the words that finally woke me up.

"Ma'am, where am I?" I ask.

"You are in my house."

"When did I arrive here?"

"You have been unconscious for a week, and I have been taking care of you. Don't ask so many questions, you sound like a detective."

What I hear leaves me surprised. How can I sleep for so long? I say I only let myself be carried away by the darkness and thought it would only last a few hours, but well, it's over now, it doesn't matter.

"Ma'am, I must go and continue on my way."

"Child, I'm not asking you to leave. Rather, I live here alone, and as you can see, I am lonelier than an abandoned cat. Wouldn't you like to live in this poor old woman's house and keep her company?" says the lady with a sad face.

I really don't know how to face this. Who is going to reject a person who took care of you without giving anything in return? I think no one.

"Okay, ma'am, but only for a while."

"Well, I know I'm old, but my name is Carmen. Nice to meet you."

"My name is Jazmin Salvatierra. Nice to meet you, ma'am."

"Child, you can call me Grandma; it's more comfortable for both of us. What do you say?" she says with a smile.

"Okay, Grandma, I'm hungry. Can you give me something to eat?" I say embarrassed, so she doesn't think I'm taking advantage of her kindness.

"Of course, dear, I can give you all the food you want," she replies cheerfully.

Carmen leaves the room, and after a while, she arrives with a tray full of delicious dishes, including a plate of freshly cut strawberries, I can tell by the color.

I take the tray, and she helps me get out of bed and sit in a chair with a small table, and without further ado, I start eating as if I had never eaten before.

"Grandma, the food is delicious," I say, gaining more confidence, because this lady seems like a good person. Since I don't have a family, I will call her Grandma, and that way, I know I have someone important to me.

"Thank you, dear. After you eat, rest so you can recover faster. I need to talk to you about some things here," Carmen says.

Carmen leaves Jazmin in the room and continues doing housework.

The next day, Jazmin woke up to a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen and decided to get up and see what Carmen was doing.

"Good morning, Grandma."

"Dear, you're already up."

"Yes. Can I help you with anything?"

"No, I'm done. You better sit down; we are going to have breakfast soon," says Carmen, handing her a plate of freshly made pancakes with pineapple jam.

"Grandma, these are the best pancakes I've ever tasted," she says after the first bite.

"I'm glad you like them, dear."

Breakfast was very cheerful, as Carmen, for her age, is a very friendly and energetic person.

"Well, Grandma, what is it that you wanted to tell me?"

"First, I want you to know that here in the human world, you have to hide who you are if you don't want crazy scientists coming in and doing experiments on you," she says, and that makes me feel afraid.

"Okay, Grandma."

"Well, the other thing is that you have to learn to live as a normal human, without using magic. Well, use it sometimes, only if the situation warrants it. I will teach you how to hide your scent, how to use your white witch powers, and I will train you to be stronger," Carmen says as if she were talking about the weather. The young woman had no choice but to accept everything since she is weak at the moment, and needs to be strong so that no one can harm her.

"Yes, Grandma, whenever you want, we'll start training."

"Well, let's get changed then. We'll start today," she says, and they both go to change.

Jazmin doesn't know how, but in the room where she was, there are clothes her size and many things she hadn't paid attention to.

**

Time flew by, and Jazmin has been training day and night for a month. Apparently, her skills as a wolf and a white witch were very surprising, so much so that she managed to hide her scent as a wolf and learned to use wound healing magic. But of course, that's just the beginning of a great adventure.
